Thank you. Yeah definitely learn from my mistakes for sure. I’m actually at a Tesla supercharger right now filming a comparison video because my Ford adapter finally came in. The funny thing is speaking of mistakes. I dropped it on the ground the first time I tried to use it. It’s OK though, but I just thought it was funny. I’m not doing these videos cause I’m perfect or anything :-)

Another great video bro! So what I do is pre plan my own route and find chargers as you are doing but I’ll find a close charger that’s in the trucks nav and then when we get close I just head to the charger I want to use. I do that so that the truck will precondition (if it’s needed). I wish that ford would add a way to tell the truck to pre condition manually.

I always use the Tesla route planner before I take a long trip. I then make a document with all the charger addresses. Then just navigate to that address. Going from San Antonio to Southern Calif on I-10 there is only one place in either west Texas or New Mexico that I cannot use Tesla chargers.

That’s a great idea too! Are you able to use the trip planner if you don’t own a Tesla?

Did you not have to charge between Amarillo and Ft. Worth? That’s a pretty long haul! Figured you would stop in Vernon or something.

I did actually charge in Vernon. Good catch. The problem I ran into there was that it was dark and I didn’t get good footage on my video so I had to cut that part out, sorry :-(

I have not been able to get Apple Maps to recognize Tesla superchargers. So I have been using the Ford route planner as my default trip mapping program. I do use the Tesla app and get the address for the station. I drive the Lighting to Florida and to Hilton Head SC.

Mine will recognize Tesla chargers, but not every time. There is a setting you can try to adjust in Apple Maps once it’s connected to the truck, but I don’t remember off hand what it is.
That’s a good scenic drive for you from Florida to Hilton Head. Are you on I 95 most of the time?

If you have an iPhone you can add your Electrify America membership to your wallet and just use the nfc tap to activate the charger as well.

I think its cool my wife is totally against me getting a EV . I'd have to win the lottery to get one at this point she wont even rent one to try it out .

There’s some pretty good deals on them right now. Plus all that money you save on gas and maintenance. It’s more than worth it in my opinion if you charge at home.

Ford Lightning trucks tend to require many more stops to charge than an ICE Ford truck would require. The time to charge is much much longer. Over 1,500 miles you are looking at about 11 or so EV charges of 40-60 minutes each, and slowing to 65 miles per hour instead of the 75 you'd be doing in an ICE truck. The ICE truck will require 4-5 fills at under 10 minutes each. A 26 hour ICE trip will take over 40 hours with the Ford EV. Yet you don't discuss this much, huh?

Guess we're willing to give up a little convenience to be greener and help with the transition away from fossil fuels.

I’ve traveled a lot in mine, and My experience is yes it takes a little longer, but if you plan correctly you can actually take about the same time. Because really it’s only about 25 minutes to get to 80% and you can stop and eat and stretch your legs. Then get back on the road and you are good. So the extra time hasn’t really bothered me.

Yeah, it definitely takes longer for occasional long trips. But for my more common local driving, it charges while parked in my driveway … no fueling trips or waiting … It’s just always ready. That’s about 4X cheaper than gas for my old V8, yet it’s a 580 HP muscle-truck that can pull 60 mph in 4 seconds. So for me, the EV wins. 😊

No because that’s not the point. Electric trucks work for some but not all in certain instances. Drive what you want. We have choice now

It's funny how people who complain about spending extra minutes charging an EV have no problem spending 26 long hours, or two long days driving to a destination.
They'll spend money on hotels, gasoline, wear and tear on their vehicle and extra time driving, with time spent on the road buying food and making bathroom stops along the way.
If you're in such a hurry to get somewhere while driving 26 hours, it's lot smarter to take a jet and get there in a few hours, and then rent a vehicle at the destination.
Driving long distances is a waste of time, money and vehicle wear and tear.
How many 3,000 mile road trips do most people make every year? One to none?
      Take a jet.
Most of the scenery from US freeways isn't amazing.
No wonder so many people are poor and struggling in America. They can't do math and they have no critical thinking skills.
