- In 2017, St Lucia Stars' Rahkeem Cornwall smashed an incredible 78 runs against Barbados Tridents during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). However, the West Indies cricketer was forced to retire early after being hit on the chest by Kieron Pollard's delivery. If I can remember, it was pollard who deliberately bowled a wide ball and handed the opponent team the win when lewis was just 1 run short of a century. So wether rakheem was actually hurt or not that's the subject of another debate but Pollard is the last guy to give him lesson on spirit of cricket tbh.

Due to his weight the momentum is too much that makes him hit everytime a boundary without much effort.
But so does Chris Gayle. He is an extremely reluctant runner as he very rarely runs 2 and even while running he doesn't show any interest to sprint, he only does jogging at normal speed. Always prefers to score boundaries instead.

Pollard doing what he did does not make what Cornwall did here right.Two wrongs do not make a right.His batting deteriorated during the inning due to his lack of fitness and that is unacceptable for a cricketer in this short version of the game and then realising that it's costing his team the game he retires.This is wrong and because someone has done wrong in the past does not mean that can not point out wrong in others as when pollard did his nonsense he got his licks as well

We need to appreciate how rahkeem is playing and should encourage all body type of humans to play cricket
This is a very wrong statement bro. I appreciate very much that Rakheem is trying very hard despite his body size, but you also have to understand that you can't allow any body size to play any form of cricket. T20 maybe fine but what about tests where they really test your physcial and mental ability and skills including stamina , endurance etc. That's why there is a certain fitness criteria for every cricketer to pass in order to play.

@@memaratha5641 What's the point they still lost the series with the full strength team against a South African team in transition, struggling badly to replace Jack Kallis, Graeme Smith, Du Plessis, Hashim Amla & ABD. Even Dean Elgar the only world class test batsman in the team, is close to retirement yet there is nobody who can replace him. The only reason they are still a decent team is because of world class bowling Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Chris Morris & Anrich Nortje.
Since when could a batsman *not* retire at any time of his choosing, "Retired Out" (as opposed to "Retired Hurt" which allowed for him to come back in at the fall of a wicket)? Not seeing the controversy here. Whether it's a strategic move or not isn't the issue.
Anyway, also relieved to see this is not one about him retiring from the sport.
