    Hobart is a company that's most known for making restaurant dishwashers and commercial kitchen equipment now.

    I have a 1965 vintage Sears Roto-Rack dishwasher that heats to 145 Fahrenheit.. I consider it better than my KitchenAid portable that was made in the mid 1980s. My built-in Whirlpool from 2009 rarely gets used, because my 50 year old Roto-Rack continues to perform to my specifications. Better, in fact, than the two newer units in my collection!

    If I had a dishwasher that ran a complete cycle in 9 1/2 minutes, I'd die of happiness. I've been fascinated by the Youngstown Kitchens Jet Tower Dishwasher ever since hearing about it a few years ago.

      You probably can used online or something. My sister loves the 50’s and 60’s retro stuff too. Only thing she doesn’t have is a dish washer from then lol she has a portable counter top dish washer it works just as well.

    Pity this design didn’t catch on. I like it.

      Oh, it DID catch on; in fact, there were many, MANY early dishwashers of similar design, and in fact, MOST were top loading, not front loading. We got our first one in 1968 or 69, a "coppertone," or dark brown, GE. It was on wheels and you pulled it over to the sink to load it. I think Electra-sol was the prevailing brand of detergent until Cascade came out.

    Isn't it funny dishwashers came out in the fifties but never really became a staple that everyone has

    Dishwasher companies must not have thought of the drying cycle yet.

      To be fair, it’s called a “dish-washer” not a “dish-dryer”

      With water that hot it didn't need a heater to dry. They could flash dry opening the lid.

      Actually, the Thor that came out 10 years prior to this had a dryer component and it would also wash your clothes. Look it up the Thor auto magic.

    How I see it. I want a really good Dishwasher. I can use it for pots and pans and large gathering of friends or Family. I can wash most things by hand cause I don't mind doing it. I'm thinking of getting a counter top dishwasher to take care of baby items like bottles and other items that need a good cleaning.

      Most/all dishwashers ARE really good, provided you... follow the directions? That said, a countertop is always severely compromised in one thousand different ways and will lead to disappointment.
      Just use your actual dishwasher and read the manual.

    What, if any, detergent or soap was used in the earliest automatic dishwashers? Seems to me you would have a suds-lock problem with the early detergents and soap film from the soap products then made

    • @jamescarrington5521
      @jamescarrington5521 2 роки тому +3

      Dishwashers have ALWAYS used a no or low suds detergent, no soap, and up until very recently, were chlorine bleach-based; now, most detergents are enzyme-based.

    • @davidpar2
      @davidpar2 2 роки тому +4

      Original detergents didn’t suds up; that was the result of an additive used when top loading automatic clothes washers became popular in the 50s.

      they also didn't have the technology to manufacture them. Automatic washing machines weren't available till the late 70s and even then they were based on licenses from Italy from brands such as Ariston
