You'll still need to proofread it though. It comes out a comedy or a tragedy. Sometimes the transcription is hysterical. Other times, it's a bunch of garbage.
Not a fan of the new Stream experience, I actually find it harder to find specific recordings, I alway see a bunch of recordings recommended from across my organization, but I only want to see recordings for a specific Team I’m a member of and sorted by date. Though, I guess I need to get onboard with the new Stream, and hope that it becomes easier to configure how videos are organized. It’s all just a bit too chaotic at the moment.
A very simple explanation provided in a way that I could understand it. Love the speed of delivery and covering simple concepts like what the buttons do as other tutorials just assume you have the previous knowledge. Will have to check out the other videos.
The org I work for manages all of our videos via Classic Stream. This video helps add context to the upcoming changes. We are not switching anytime soon but it is good to see what's next.
My team needs to create instructional videos. So far, the team wants to utilize Ariculate Rise. Can you explain the differences between Stream and Articulate Rise?
We are delving into stream and plan to move all of our content to stream/sharepoint for the company. My first thought was that we should be using the new stream but I find it lacking (despite it having been introduced almost two years ago). Documentation is sparse. For example, try to find how to enable transcription in new stream; nothing on the MS documentation but lots for the classic. After an exhaustive search, apparently there is no transcript feature except for Teams meetings videos. What happened to channels? We want to have separate channels for meetings, training, etc. And this all needs to be managed by a team, not one individual. Also from MS: "The "Stream" web part only works for Stream (Classic) content, it does not work with videos from OneDrive or SharePoint" - without the stream web part, we're missing the playback speed, search transcriptions, closed captioning buttons when we add the videos in a SharePoint page. Stream classic looks great and exactly what we need but now I am apprehensive to adopt it when MS will force a migration to an inferior product. So my question is, am I missing something or is the new version indeed missing a bunch of functionality Classic has?
I really wish you would have covered some of the 'gotchas' by switching over to the new stream. I support a team of around 70 instructors and there are many pain points with the new stream / teams experience. I'll try and cover what I mean as briefly as possible. When recordings are made from Teams meetings, (ie. not scheduled from an MS Teams channel): 1. The person who starts the recording becomes the recording owner, meaning the organizer of the meeting has no ownership over the recording. This is problematic when students start recordings. 2. If auto record is turned on in the meeting options ... then without strict lobby settings, the first person to join the meeting triggers the recording and becomes the recording owner. 3. Sharing recordings from the Teams' post by default has a permission set where the link only works for those who attended the meeting - most users aren't familiar with adjusting link permissions. There are loads more pain points - but most of it stems from the storage pattern and permissioning. Thanks for sharing all these helpful app updates, but for the new Stream, I don't feel like its all sunshine and roses.
Thanks for the great video. Unfortunately, the "Recommended" section in 365 is often irrelevant content-wise, and it cannot be hidden or otherwise disabled. It's another example of companies in love with their algorithms force-feeding you that stuff.

There isn't a way to do that with Stream (on SharePoint) yet. Classic has trim head and tail. Clipchamp is a web video editor that Microsoft acquired and will be working on bringing it to M365 as fast as they can.
Kevin, thank you for your clear explanation. I have another question: when sharing your video, you can start the fragment from a specific point by adding ?=st(sec) on the url. Can you also end the fragment at a certain point?
Kevin, I have a feeling that Powerpoint is using Stream technology, am I right? For example, if you want to play a native video from the files section of Teams, it does NOT stream the video and is choppy. OTOH, all you have to do is embed that same video into a Powerpoint slide, then play it from the same files tab in Teams, and it streams perfectly. So, what do you think is happening there?
@@KevinStratvert yes. Maybe. But I do know that this is the ONLY way to show smooth video within Teams. So although you said you can upload a video to Teams, people should understand that those videos won't play smoothly if "streaming" from Teams. Doug can you file a support ticket? Videos played from the files tab in Teams are running through the new streaming we added to SharePoint and OneDrive from the Stream team. Nice video kevin!! Hey well I had a question, has microsoft ever tried to enter the youtube market I mean do they have any plans for making something similar to youtube?
They had a consumer video service in the past similar to UA-cam, but it struggled to gain traction. They’re now mainly focused on video in the enterprise space.
Thanks for the video. Can you still embed MS Forms into the video like in classic Stream? That was useful for putting a knowledge check into a recorded lesson.
You can copy a link to share with everyone. You can also add to a Sharepoint site that everyone has access to. I believe you can also promote a page / video via sharepoint so it appears in people’s recommended and news feeds.

I'm trying to look for it in MANY ways through standard options within sharepoint, Stream, Outlook, but without success... do you know if it's possible, and if it is, how do you do it? Thanks! :)
It's all well and good, but I don't see any option in the new interface or the docs about embedding links when you share. This feature is baked right into the old stream console when you share a video. I rely heavily on this for embedding videos on other platforms. I even tried spoofing the in bed URL using the snippet from the old console with the video link that you get when you share a video from the new console and it just straight up does not work, in fact the URL that is generated in the new stream share option it's just like sharing from anywhere else in OneDrive for SharePoint, it's like three times as long as the link that's embedded in the share / embed video option on the old stream platform.

Frankly, it sounds like a huge mess compared to the classic Stream experience. Instead of having the training-videos that are recorded by multiple colleagues on one place, it is spread over various onedrive-accounts and various different document libraries on Sharepoint. It is basically impossible to manage where the videos are actually stored. How do you easily organize videos of similar kind? In classic stream I used channels for that. One major drawback to the reason I don't use Strem is I can't share video to people outside my organization, I am a career coach so only one of me, but I have to use UA-cam still to seed private videos for that one cleint

I see only drawbacks and zero benefits compared to classic stream for the moment. Let's hope it will improve over time.
Can I upload the video on to youtube?
New Stream seems a bit barren for content organization. All I get is a long list of videos that were shared or recently viewed by me.
My Teams recording meetings are showing up in OneDrive but not in Stream. Anyone know why?
nice video
Kevin Koocie Kompany (KKK) are really good at integrating the newest features!
Why is streams limited to 15min screen recording??
One major drawback to the reason I don't use Strem is I can't share video to people outside my organization, I am a career coach so only one of me, but I have to use UA-cam still to seed private videos for that one cleint
Do you have a tutorial for seniors? My grandma is getting her first laptop ever and knows zero computer knowledge
I've long called Teams a chat front end to Sharepoint.
