Me finally having the patience and ability to beat Celeste for the first time after six years yesterday: I’m happy to finally have beaten it and can’t wait to see what the developers do next. Me after seeing this video: Aw s**t here we go again.
This is beautiful for a game made in a single week!. Despite I never played Celeste before I adore this. We don't see Indie Game Devs creating 3d versions of their 2d projects, Maddie Makes Games did it!...
this is pretty neat. the only problem is that this is the MOST un-N64 looking thing ive seen calling itself a N64-like. it certainly has the Mario64 soundfont which is unexpected. if anything this feels more like a high quality DS game.
I agree completely. Polygon count might be a tad too high. They also are missing the classic “fog” that denotes distance. Aspect ratio would be incorrect, but I’m not sure about resolution lol.
@@Nikori Aspect ratio I disagree with since 7 or so retail games have anamorphic widescreen, and some others have letter box widescreen. Then you have gameshark codes to implement widescreen and also rom hacks is another. That's all on original stock hardware. But your other points I completely agree on. Resolution would be 240p or 480i.
actually makes me hopefull we'll get a full celeste 3d game. there are SO many little details, or just polish of mechanics. that's a shitton of effort for "just" an anniversary the base is all there
This is like watching a younger sibling fail over and over at stuff whilst you get angry and more backseating wanting to take over the controller. 10/10 nostalgia.
This reminds me of the 3D Voxel style, celeste 3d remake from cody cant eat this, and he got permission to release that game from the celeste devs, so we got a taste of what celeste would be in 3d, and now its official. i hope this becomes a real game. or i hope someone makes it into an n64 rom for real
I knew my generation was awesome but I didn’t know they were this awesome. Mad respect for the devs at Matt makes games. They know what fans need. We all could learn from this.
I haven't never get interested of Celeste 2D action platformer game because it looks too hard for me but it's so nice there is now Celeste 64 3D Playformer. Which Platforms this game is, I believe this is for a Pc. I really will taste play this Celeste 64 what's like Celeste's version of Super Mario 64. I love this defienitily that cute character model WOW! 😮❤
I loved Celeste. Meant so much more when I found out creator was trans too. This is incredible! Never thought I’d see something like this. It must make it a lot harder though. I felt part of what made celeste a fair challenge was the ability to see and study the screen/puzzle before attempting. Still this looks really cool! Thanks for shouting this out, I might never have heard of it otherwise. Definitely giving Mario vibes, music even sounds a little like Mario 64
yeah the baps in the Special Stage seem a bit inspired by Mario 64, but the main tracks are Lena Raines handiwork (who also is trans btw). I think it's cool that the B-Sides Rhythmblocks don't start until you move, just like in Celeste. Also Spoiler: Maddy and Alex (Theo's Sister) are a thing now :D
@@CathrineMacNiel oh my gosh, thanks so much for sharing this info! You made me want to look up more about the creators now! I’m a huge fan of the original soundtrack and b-sides, and didn’t realize the musician was also trans! Makes sense and makes the game that much more cohesive and meaningful. Saw some people in the comments on this video dissing the game for “not having enemies or bosses”….think they missed the point. The game for me is about challenging yourself and overcoming seemingly impossible struggles to emerge as a better person, more capable and able to engage with life. And if they think it’s an easy platformer….we’ll maybe they have assist mode on lol Thanks again for your positive comment!
@@elsiebartlett6808 Yeah Celeste was always about climbing a mountain/overcoming the challenge/coming to terms with your ~ other side ~ (imagine its animated). And of course eating Strawberry Pie! Sure thing, we have to stick together in those trying times :)
We are living in an era of gaming where alot of games are being made again on atari and 32 and 64bit systems. I can't wait for more to come!
Give me more 64 bit games!

I don't think this one was made with N64 specs in mind...
well, most modern computers are 64-bit systems, with the exception of extremely outdated computers that still somehow run windows 10.
it Will be Nice to see an 3d game of ice climber
How the HELL is Celeste 6 years old already? Time is a myth
Nah, thats stess and possible depression causing that...
Something something covid
Lunchtime doubly so
In fact it is 9 years. It also lived 3 years before as Pico-8 game.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is also 6 years old. Tripped me out
Well there's something you don't see everyday....
Same
Yeah
if you have a life yeah, but some people who are into fangames watch these types of games everyday
Or every week for that matter.

They really backed themselves into a corner on this one. What will they do for the 64th anniversary of the game now?!
You BECOME madeline
Games released on anniversaries always suck. Just ask Sonic Team.
Celeste 128
An arcade Pacman version, where the fruit in the middle is always a strawberry
VR celeste???
It's cool seeing the 5th gen of gaming getting a lot of throwback type indie games.
What?
Celeste is 3D now :o

As soon as I play the original game a few days ago this game comes out 😭
I love the character model.
As if Celeste wasn't hard enough on its own, now they had to add anothee entire dimension to it
This is 100% inspired by CodyCantEatThis
Did they get smooth mcgroove for the soundtrack on the bonus levels
It looks amazing! Never thought Celeste gameplay would translate to 3D so well!

Huh i remember a guy made a 3d version of Celeste's first level. I wonder if they got the idea from that
3D platformer mentioned 👁👁
I'm not done with the original game yet. A less hard 3d version sounds fun.
I need this on my Switch.
Same here

For a self-published free mini-game, is that likely to happen?

Its so cool that they put every mechanic into this game; Also, Trans can double jump!
There's a celeste mod in a hat in time on pc for celeste
this kinda reminds me of the stuff Siactro does with Toree where they just upload random little free games to itch sometimes.
Well ain’t this a really nice surprise! I always welcome retro styled games!

The cassette section's music made me think of Smooth McGroove.
