OMG!!! I saw Led Zeppelin there in 1969, and then later that night they were all falling-down drunk down the street at the Rainbow. Amazing it still looks much the same inside. I caught a whiskey flask that night that was thrown from the stage - still have it. You guys have presented so many great videos, but this is gonna always be one of my favorites. I have to attach a THANKS to this one - it is really special!
I would have loved to have been at that show, but I was 8 years old at the time. 🙂
@@BillHaynal I was 17, but that was not such a big issue at the time 😉
Very cool story,thanks for sharing.
Bad ass story to tell. I love led zeppelin born in 85 but grew up listening to classic 🎸 🤘
Awesome story! You’re very fortunate to have seen them perform!
A thousand points for mentioning Cream. Sadly more and more forgotten every year.
They only existed a short time, Eric Clapton disbanded them
It blows my mind that venues like this for music don’t exist any more . As a classic rock and heavy metal fan there’s nothing I would love more than to watch bands play in venues like this
The Whisky still exists-its open every day,
@@jimmypage1517 ow really by watching this video it makes it seem Like they got an exclusive look behind the doors of the venue like it’s been closed down 😂
In SoCal. back then there were 10,000 places like that.. no 'record' music anywhere.
Existe sim.
@@DemonStarCraftsI agree they made it look like that🙄
fun fact: matthew mcconaughey got his alright, alright, alright from one of jim morrison’s live performances. in between sets, he says alright like 5-6 times!
I've been on that stage so much. Tore the roof off that place dozens of times with huge metal bands. Some of the best shows I ever played were there. Better than arenas sometimes. Those more intimate shows can really pump!!
Please tell about it? Who are you?)))
Mystery
Are you trying to say that you are famous? Who the heck are you , son ???
Its the Ghost of Jim Morrison AKA the Lizzard Troll King
I was a roadie for a big regional band for a year and the coolest shows were always the smaller clubs. As you say much more intimate. The connection you get in those just don't happen in large venues like arenas.
@@nochistar A quick google suggests this might be Tony from Needlemouth
Oh fantastique! I just saw a picture the other day with 3 of the Beatles meeting Jayne Mansfield @ The Whisky. Thanks for the special premiere!
Awesome! I spent most of twenties here, troubadour, Roxy and the Rainbow. So many amazing bands and memories.
You guys are the best. ❤ 🎃
Afterwards, we would usually end up at
Barney’s beanery!👍
The glory days of the strip are so iconic.
Been playing there for more than 20 years almost all my life and it never gets old. Never thought I would sell out that venue with my band but we did in 2019! Will never forget it
You should advertise your band here, stick the name of your guy's band up! 🤘
@@buzzin-hornet Fire Tiger is the group UA-cam us! 80s retro pop rock kind of vibe
@@tylerrenga I’ll check it out when I have time and I’ll get back to you when I have! 👊🏼
What time is it, its Grimm Life Time the best time. Love the hat Jessica
This place is so iconic. I've been a metal fan since I was a teenager. My favourite band is LA Guns. Their album Tales From the Strip features The Whisky on the cover. I've seen videos of them playing there. And its not just them. So many bands I've ever loved were there. Idk, I don't think I'd ever have the words to fully express just how rad and amazing this place is.
Tracii is such a badass player.
TRACII & PHIL !!
My Favorite as Well !
Cheers Mate
🇺🇸
Wow! You guys have outdone yourselves again with another amazing video tour. I am a huge Doors fan, but, I have never seen such a thorough tour of the inside of the Whisky. 🚪🎸🎤🎃👻
Man, that stage is hallowed ground. You were walking through many legendary ghosts brother. What an honor.
You forgot to mention the mighty Zeppelin! When they came to America the whiskey a go-go was one of the first concerts! And Alice Cooper was their supporting act!
I’ve seen a couple great shows at The Whisky over the years. Goldfinger in 1997 and Cold in 2011 Wish I could go back in time to see the Doors here when they were just coming up. Just imagine seeing early Led Zeppelin there too!! It’s such a special intimate venue with so much history and mystique. Once again, always fascinating! Happy Halloween 🎃💚 🖤
I knew you guys would hit this out of the park!!! You are such a GREAT storyteller! The Wisky has always been on my bucket list! Even more so now! Thank you both for another fantastic Grimm adventure!
Wonderful video. So much history. You both seem at home there! Jessica can move! ❤
I couldn’t get her to stop dancing lol. She was having a blast
Like me Michael, you're a lucky bloke. We both have a couple of spunky girls 😊
I played The Whiskey back in 2012, it was something else. The respect ALL our bands had for the history was uncanny. NO drinking, no smoking inside, no "VIP" rope... Great place.
No drinking?
@@Bobbyreindeer In the sense of, don't mess up your set or act like Motley Crue in the green room....
@@CEO_FADeDOh I thought you meant they didn’t serve drinks!
@@Bobbyreindeer Na, that's a biiiiiiig money maker.
I used to play the whisky all the time. I’d even go upstairs to the office to get my presale tix and one time the mgr there asked me if I’d play drums for and go on tour with Dustin “screech” diamond’s band. I agreed and he came to my moms house in Carson and we rehearsed one time but the tour never happened, but it was surreal to have him in my garage jamming with me lol
Michael and Jessica, you've excelled yourself yet again with another great video. What a venue, a place of legends and music history. And extra marks as well for the Doctor Who reference.
Yes! I've been needing my GrimmLife fix.
the doors are one of the bands I wish I could have seen live. what a great band .seeing them in whisky a go go man that would've been special
Wow! Not only was this an insightful posting, the comments of people’s personal memories, and stories, of the Whisky, is well worth reading. So many people have so much respect, for Rock n’ Roll history.
I had the pleasure of playing at the Whisky on September 23. I had a celebrity guest onstage with me. Your video tour was spot on and much appreciated
This posted under the wrong account (mea culpa !). I meant to post this on my Katdaddy 55 channel. If anyone is interested, there is clip from the show on my Katdaddy 55 UA-cam channel
What a Great Club! I never been inside before, I walked around outside of it a few times! Thanks for the grand tour Grimmlove ❤️🔥🔥🔥
Amazing! @ 20:32 yes! That is Ratt ❤
Everyone has a story here. I saw Ratt/stephen pearcy play here a few years back, I wanted to meet him so bad! i made upstairs backstage thanks to a crew member ( I worked at a different venue in Pomona so i pulled strings) @ 19:02 you’re standing in the room we were in!! So I approached Stephen pearcy, i kid you not he was chatting with Sabastian Bach and asked him for a photo ❤got a hug and made my way out. Best memory at the Whisky Go Go.
Those humble little venues are some of the absolute best places for death metal shows.
This video is amazing! Jessica is looking extremely spooky. The Grimms Rock!!!
Walking this piece of history was pretty wild indeed.
Watching it now. As soon as I saw the notification for it, I put it right on. I'm a huge fan of Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, and many more. This is exciting! Love you guys!
Thank you for this magnificent video. I myself have only great memories of Whiskey A Go Go, be it Judas Priest, The 69 Eyes or Doyle. Now you guys have archived it forever. And Jessica's outfit is beautiful. The perfect Salem witch. I look forward to seeing you soon. 3 months to go. Cheers Laurent
Loved this video, LOVE The Doors and most importantly LOVE everything you guys do! Thank you for taking us along your adventures🎃🎃🎃
Love love love this video! Spent a fair amount of time there… love seeing you guys and your excitement and I love how respectful you are!! Thank you!
What an amazing video! Jessica looking beautiful as always. Much respect to both of you.
Thank you Chuck. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is sensational, love this, thank you Michael & Jessica ☺️👌🏼👍🏼🥰
Man, I love this channel so much! The energy and vibe between the two of you is amazing. Keep up the great work guys, I absolutely adore this channel!
This was great, really enjoyed the behind the scenes look at this legendary rock club. Jim Morrison, what a guy lol I can't imagine what it must have been like there during the club's hay day in the 60s and 70's. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into this part of rocks amazing history.
Wow, what an excellent episode! A fantastic tour of the entire Whisky. I hope it stands forever. Thank you both for a time capsule moment & sharing it with us.
This was incredible!!! Amazing that you could walk through there where so many legendary bands have gone. I was surprised at how big it actually is in there!
I have been following for along time and never comment but I have to thank y’all for your awesome and intense research to keep legends alive. Your master story telling of this place literally had me with goosebumps the whole time. I could feel the energy there thru your stories and baby ghouls dancing, so great!!! Thank you both soo much!! Especially in this time of chaos y’all allow us to just step back in time if only for a moment! Thank you Michael and Jessica!!
Thank you so much for this video! Excellent job, thank you for moving slowly and taking your time so we can all let it sink in. That stage shot was amazing! I'm so grateful they gave you access to all those hidden rooms. I didn't know you could just go there for drinks, I'll have to check it out next time I'm in the area. Well done!
Another bucket list item for me now! Happy Halloween 🎃
It's amazing how you guys continue to make great content! Thanks for the videos. A year ago your videos really helped me keep my mind through a tough time. Thanks for taking us to all these places many of us would not be able to see! Happy Halloween!
Wow!!! Michael you and Jessica really out did yourselves with this one! The history of the Whisky is so vast and just down right interesting. I know it's hard to fit so much history into a 30 minute video. But you did a great job!!! Thank you for the rockin history lesson!
That was an awesome video, i live in Montreal, Canada and it's always been my dream to go there, the history that comes with it, so many bands that i love played there, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, RATT, Motley Crue, Guns 'N' Roses, Motorhead and the list goes on and on. Thank you for all the great work you guys do, i discovered your channel during the pandemic and i was going through some really tough health problems and you guys helped me alot!!! Keep up the good work!! 🤘😎🤘
The Doors definitely left their mark at the Whisky.
The Doors are one of my favorites, loved the story you told and picture you showed of them, great video
I love how your being all professional Michael and Jessica is making flip flop noises dancing. I love her 💚💚
Great video. One year ago, my 17 year old son and I made the drive from Vegas to see the Whisky. We are both big Doors fans. Unfortunately we got there in the afternoon and it was closed. As we were about to leave an employee walked out of the band load door. We told him we drove down from Las Vegas and he brought us inside and gave us a full tour of the building! We took great pictures and bought some t shirts. You can really feel the history and presence of the rock legends inside there. Unforgettable experience for my boy and I.
Thanks for sharing this visit, love how you told your story, well done
Incredible place and video my friends. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
The best!!! Thanks for sharing this visit!! Just as the area was really taking off...my dad moved us from Santa Monica to up north. I DID come back with a band in 1968 and played Gazzarri's there. Always wished to play here too...never did. So thanks for the tour.
Omggggg this is one of the best! You both should have your own rock band! And you can call your fans the Grimmlins! 👻🎃🦇💚 bootifully spooky amazing video besties!!!
Trust me…if we can sell records playing spoons and kazoo we would lol
@@grimmlifecollective I can be very good on the spoons!!! Or triangle!!! Let’s do it! Let’s form a band! Lol

Thank you so much Michael and Jessica for once again out doing yourselves again ❤❤❤❤❤
Dude such a magical place wish I was born in that era
What a great tour of The Whisky. There was a short-lived Whisky A-Go-Go in San Francisco and The Doors played there too.
You have become on of my favorite channels. I loved the show In Search Of when I was a kid. The way you narrate and tell stories is definitely in the same class as Leonard Nimoy did on In Search Of.
That was a great show 👻
I was at the Whiskey back in the 80’s watching local hair metal bands. But what was memorable was in 2003 or 2004, my Ex boyfriends band played there and I was a dancer for their band. So, yes, I got to see the last band room you went to and dance on stage. It was surreal to say the least. I was so nervous. But what a rush it was. I miss living in LA. But Sunset Strip is not what it used to be. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome video. It gave me goosebumps and brought back memories. 🖤🐈⬛🖤🦇🖤⚰️🖤🧛🏻♀️🖤🕷️🖤🌹🖤
I am into all sorts of music, primarily alternative - rock, metal, goth etc but of everything I’ve listened to thus far, The Doors have been most significant and profound to me. I know every note, every lyric and there isn’t a time that I listen to a song by them and not experience complete spiritual bliss. I just love them. Love, love, love them. 🙂
Never would i ever think to see you guys do a Video like this, It's on my Bucket list to go to Whiskey a Go Go. Edit: I love Jessicas Outfit, She is so pretty in that!
Super awesome thanks for the tour
Coming all the way from Edinburgh in Scotland to visit this place. Love the video and all the work you put in to bring them to us
Amazing tour! I so want to go there!
I can honestly say I had the privilege of playing there back in 2005 with my band and I will never forget it! Thank you for doing this tour grimmlife!! 🙌👏🔥
I really appreciate your in depth telling of The Whisky. Thank you
I was just reading Pamela Des Barres' book and she talks about this place all the time, what a coincidence!!
Ah yes you are the chosen one, the world revolves around you
Every moment on your musical history tour was magical!!!! Had no idea go go dancers originated there! Seems like so much music and life changed from like 1964 to 67,, more freedom in so many ways!!! 👍😎🎵🎸🎃🐈⬛🎶
when you walked on that stage brought huge goosebumbs THANK YOU!!!!!
Awesome tour! Thanks, guys! :)
Spent many Friday and Saturday nights in there back in the late 1960's . . . !!! Thanks for the tour . . . best show I ever saw there was Arthur Lee and Love. Legendary show. Saw many of the local bands like the Doors, Iron Butterfly, etc.
This video is really cool like a trip back in time, thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. This is awesome! I love your show.
WOW you guys have out done yourselves. Love this video. Thanks again for taking us with you.
Another amazing video! Love your channel and content. Your subscribers are very thankful for all your hard work to give us great content.
Imagine the memories in that building.what a place to be in the day.🌟🌟🤪
Another awesome video! Thanks for great content.
That must have been a cool experience to see that. Lot of music history! Thanks for the tour of the place
Love it when you guys do Rock n Roll / Metal themed videos on location.
Jessica is in a class of her own. Absolutely delightful 🙂
I believe the white rabbit reference , IMO, would refer to the Jefferson Airplane song Also, Nirvana played there and Soundgarden as well, which are two bands I luv. The Doors are my all-time favorite band. I have all their music downloaded. Thanks for an amazing and informative vlog I went to the Whisky A Go Go when I was in HS. Can’t tell you much about who was playing or what happened because, well, you know just because.😂😂😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
Nirvana never played Whisky A Go-Go, mate. They played The Roxy. Soundgarden played there, though.
DUDE!!!
Awesome vlog, I loved it, one of my favorites, can you even imagine the people walking through the doors there and continue too.........Awesome work please keep it up!
Once again Grimmys, you totally kill it in another great video!! Thanks for such great content!!!
I love the joy you truly feel and radiate through to us!!
Fantastic video! Luv it! A close family member of mine played the Whisky back in the day. Cool vibe in there 👍😎🥃
It's really moving and so amazing, I never thought I would see the the inside of the Whisky!! As a huge fan of The Doors, I really appreciate it :) Thank you!!!
Brilliant!!Thanks for doing this guy's 👍👍
Man this video was awesome. Without the Grimmlife, I would not know as much about mysic history and movie as I do now. I really would love to sit down with Michael for a day and learn alot about HIStory ( like the plug? ). I always look forward to their videos and the Grimms have a fan for life. Jessica looked majestic as usual. Happy Halloween 🎃.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words.
Always. Not gonna lie, the Grimms are my favorite UA-camrs and always I'm in anticipation for the next video. Since my family will probably not make it to the places that the Grimms go to, with their videos its like we're there.
Great video. So fascinating! Thank you!
Awesome video , thanks guys 😊
Fabulous, as always Michael and Jessica take us to places we will never be able to see.
Hail yourselves, love you both, this was epic 🖤
This and the Coo Coo's nest in OC were many in my family's old stomping grounds back in the day, very cool video I am thrilled you guys got to experience it. Great memories for so many. I just love your channel.
