I only ever saw 2 Fargo trucks in my lifetime. Both were in a place called Scadden, Western Australia. 1 was yellow and black which looked very good, the other was a dark blue. Both were probably 10 ton trucks and both were flatbed trucks. As children, me and my sister climbed up onto the back of the yellow and black one and found an oil gun and a grease gun so we started shooting each other. We had a ball, not thinking about the best clothes we had on were hand made by our wonderful Mum and that we were dressed up ready to go to a ball in the Grass Patch Community Hall. It hurt Dad as much as it hurt Mum, yet Mum convinced Dad that we should still go to the Ball. I don't know how Mum got those clothes clean again, but she did, and we went. We never climbed up on that truck again.

Fargo trucks were fairly common in Canada, sold by the Plymouth dealers. Chrysler in Canada had a lot of model duplication, with slightly different styling characteristics, between the Dodge and Plymouth lines.

I appreciate the information, I'd actually been looking into this as I've found a 1952 Fargo truck in my possession that I'm looking to restore (when I barely even know anything about vehicles but I want to do it anyway because it's cool lul). It seems that a lot of the backstory and history is a bit difficult to find out there for this line of trucks, so I very much appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to keep its history in mind as I slowly work this thing back to beautiful condition.

I'm am surprised that at age 65 that I've never heard of a Fargo truck. I really liked the model with the wood paneling.
This is a very interesting video. Thank you.

In the early 70's in Oak Flats, N.S.W., I saw an old flat-bed truck, behind a bank, looked like it was abandoned. Went in and asked who it belonged to, the manager gave me the details of some builders that had left it .
Got in touch, and they said "Take it away, you can have it". Got my dad to reluctantly tow it home for me, put gas in it, charged the battery, swung the starting handle and it fired up straightaway. On the front grill it said Fargo, I had never heard of this before. Although being a truck-driver myself.
Estimated it to be made in the 40's, and would carry 2 tons. But all this time later I cannot remember what happened to it. Then, a year ago, saw an article like this, and all was explained, and I got U-tube to show me pictures of all the 40's models, and there it was. Brought back memories of Australia, .....foolishly, we moved back to the U.K., and got stuck here.!

Still see the occasional Fargo truck here in Western Australia. Mainly at classic car events.

Interesting episode, especially the info on Australian production. I'm not really sure when the Fargo name disappeared over here but I've never seen a post 1970 Fargo in Australia. Between the cab sharing deals with International and local content legislation you could almost make an entire video devoted solely to Aussie Chrysler truck production and its uniqueness.

Fargo Trucks were sold in the former Republic of Vietnam. We would convoy past the Fargo dealership in 1969-1970 in Plieku. Saw many on the roads.

The overseas market still is our line with different names.. we have never been anything but a child nation as young as we are.. in the over seas market the names where what they were used to and trusted, even if all was the same..

The Fargo truck shown in the Indian ad at 3:11 is originally a Dodge produced at the Kew, Surrey UK facility, they could be bought with either a Dodge petrol (gasoline) engine or a Perkins P6 diesel. Check out the classic British movie 'Hell Drivers.'

My grandfather owned a Ford dealership in Manitoba in the 50’s. He has a used Fargo pickup truck on his lot next to his house. Us kids used to climb all over it as we loved that truck. It had pins on chains to lock the tailgate in the up position. I believe it was a light green color.

stumbled across your channel and this Fargo post. I'd never heard of Fargo trucks before; I was curious and did a little research.
Many believe, because Chevy has told them so, so often, that Chevy invented the "SUV" by coming out with the 1935 Chevrolet Carryall Suburban. In truth Chrysler's Fargo truck division came out with the Fargo Packet Clipper six years earlier, in 1929. The Packet Clipper, was marketed as an SUV in every modern sense of the term with the arguable exception that it was not 4wd or AWD.
So, I've learned that the Suburban was Chevy's first SUV but, it was not THE first SUV.

Saw my first Fargo truck today, leading me to search for info about the brand, A bright yellow restored pickup.. I've seen many old Dodge, International and Commer trucks resting peacefully in farm fields around Australia, but was intrigued to learn of the Fargo brand.

I bought an old scrap '54 Fargo Van, fixed it up and drove it from 1969 to '79 in the Lennoxville Quebec area. Mainly it hauled rock bands around, one musician from California liked it, and went home to start a custom van shop. My $20 van had something to with the van custom craze that began in that era.
