50 years ago. Don't tell me nobody saw this coming. Just imagine where we'd be now if we as a nation continued the R&D of this. We'd be in the catbird seat economically and environmentally.
They did it doesn’t work as well as oil and gas
President Jimmy Carter was ahead of his time !
Facts!!
Well said...
Even John Quincy Adams was too. He wanted to do roads, etc.
If we'd listened to President Carter, we'd be in so much better shape as a nation and as a species. He was prescient. What a fine, caring man and president.
He was also the first world leader (not just US president, but world leader) to acknowledge global warming as a serious environmental issue.
He was the best president that we had in my lifetime. I was born in 1968.
This was a few years after the great oil shortage. President Carter saw the future and worked to free us from big oil. In the next election, Americans had the choice between a USN nuclear engineer with a solid vision for our energy future, and a B-movie mouthpiece for big oil who was already showing signs of dementia. reagan tore those solar panels off the White House as a "gesture." We chose popular over intelligent. And we have continued to double down on that mistake ever since.
Ahead of his time.....Ahead of his time.
Carter is one of the most underrated Presidents
Jimmy Carter is the best human being to occupy the White House in my life time. Ronald Reagan is the worst.
Reagan was bad, as was W. Bush. The worst, far and away: Trump.
Precisely!
Trump is worse than reagan in a lot of ways.
I wouldn't say Reagan was the worst by far (hello Trump and Bush Jr.!) But Carter is absolutely the best!
@@SupportTheArts-yo8ox I think trump was easily the worst stand alone but reagan started the movement that bush and trump built on. Maybe we call them all the worst potus.
Thank you President CARTER!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
The man is a visionary, too advanced for the masses to comprehend.
Highly educated, nuclear sub commander
Yes, extremely heroic, too.
Ahead of his time
He's by far the greatest President in my life time...
One of thd best president ever. Republicans stole his deserverd second term.
Hands-down he was a very respectable man he was a very good president way before my time I was born in 97
Actually he had a bad approval rating, it wasn't just Republicans, a lot of Americans failed to see all the good he did and focused on how he wasn't as good for the economy
@shadowyzephyr the economy was one of the best in America's history under Carter.
Joe biden economy is a close 2nd to carters.
That's why we need to ensure a biden 2024 victory ✌️ 🙌.
@@shadowyzephyryeah, he was a Farmer not a Capalist
Wow 1979 solar! I would love to see that. I bet they were the shonkyest panels by todays standards.
Good on you Carter 👍
I think he means Benjamin Harrison not William Henry Harrison
Jimmy Carter - visionary- erects solar panels. The first thing Regan did was pull them down. This fact illustrates a good president, focused on the future and a bad closed minded one.
To the Oil Companies, this was a declaration of war.
If we had followed up on Carter's vision, we would have avoided the endless Oil Wars 2 Bushes.
Reagan took them down.
Time to bring them back
With this new invention, the peanuts will never go sour.
And they didn’t work and got replaced , like Carter
Wrong they worked... Regan won, and he was in bed with the energy companies so he removed them. Your name says it all....poorly educated, the kind dUmp likes.
Also Carter had a better Economy than dUmp.
Jimmy who ???
