Hey Pond People! What did you think of our week at AquaLand? Let us hear what your favorite topper for an AquaBasin is! I didn't even mention how great they look topped with a pondless waterfalls! Tune in next week to see us build the worlds MOST powerful wetland filter system inside of an above-ground swimming pool!!!

Looking forward to the wetland filter video. Faux basalts have potential… It’d be awesome if y’all would expand the more contemporary artistic toppers for aquabasins, maybe like a stacked slate (rectangular) column or other more modern pieces. Specially, since we are kind of going in that direction with rec ponds. I’d say no railing, and also those stacked slate spheres that are almost completely underwater looks amazing!

One day I will have some ponds and a rec-pond built by them. I know when I get my wedding chapel done I will have a pond built for it.

“Send water to the wetland 100% debris free” is something us koi-first pond enthusiasts have long cited as reservations about Aquascape ecosystem skimmer to wetland (that gets annual cleanout) pond design. I’d love to see the aesthetics of your pond designs but with bottom drains and a skimmer that run through a mechanical filter like a drum or evolution aqua type filter (pretty much standard in Europe) prior to a discharge into the bottom of a wetland.

So loved this comment. I have been thinking about getting a koi pond for many years now. The Aquascape system looks so amazing but without bottom drains I have always been concerned. Hoping one day this will evolve because I love the look of a natural pond so much better than the tradition koi pond look.
Right now currently we can’t have the best of both worlds but I am hoping this change will be coming VERY soon.

@@dpistone10 In fairness to them, they have a lot of success with their "ecosystem" approach which relies on nutrient export by plants, tremendous surface area, etc. But the fact that all the solid waste more or less stays in the pond to be broken down can't possibly be as good as most of the particulate waste getting removed before breaking down. It's why I was so surprised to hear Brian emphasize their efforts (and implied benefits) to mechanically filter their koi holding "ponds" before sending to the wetland. IMHO aquascape's first priority is a natural look... very often their ponds have koi compromises. It won't be my wallet, but I really hope some day there's a 4+ foot deep pond that doesn't have tons of gravel in the pond as a nutrient trap, has both skimmer and bottom drain going to a drum, bead, or nexus type filter that gets flushed daily, then to a wetland and their exquisite rockwork/falls, etc. In some cases, I fear their iongen product is both a bandaid for excess nutrients and a revenue tactic. My own formal koi pond goes to a nexus that automatically flushes 2x daily. That's removes the vast majority of sold waste before breaking down, and with an auto-top-off results in about a 5% water change daily. Two very different approaches that I've never seen combined.

@@josh.kaptur agree with everything you have said 100%. Koi are very compromised to predators with shelving or any place predators can stand to capture the koi. As we all know if you want to keep these amazing koi from Japan that are extremely expensive why would you possibly want them eaten?
If you are not keep expensive koi the Aquascape Ecosystem works very well and looks so amazing. They have the hands up on looking natural.
I am going to try and design two long waterfalls with Aquascapes best natural filter but then go into a traditional koi pond with bottom drains and Nexus or Drum filters for the koi pond. Designing a pond that will be a minimum of 30,000 gallons. So I am guessing that I am kind of weird, I want the best of both worlds. Extremely challenging but I am sure it can be done if planned properly.
Would love to hear your thoughts?💭
