The Mekhela drape comes from Assam. And did you know that Sualkuchi is known as the 'Silk Heaven of India'? #ManishaMalik #Mekhela_Sador #Assam #IndianFashion
Mekhla sador is not just a tradition ; it's a beautiful expression of cultural heritage and craftsmanship ; it's a symbol of Pride ,❤ identity and the timeless elegance of Assamese tradition... Love the way she explained...🎉😊
Such designers are impuring the traditional dress and dress style of Assam ..its sad to see,at first this seemed creative ..now seeing many people taking it as something and naming it like whatever they want to..is sad to watch
Sanjukta's design lacks the subtleness and class of Assamese Mekhela sador. Assamese is a very mild community, and all their designs, tastes, and dress colour preferences are subtle. It's a pity how we have to see in the name of Sanjukta's designs, bollywoodifying, killing the authentic look of this gorgeous attire.
fun fact : traditionally the bridal attire of assam is white with golden thread work, white symbolizing love and purity and golden symbolizes regality and divinity. Although sometimes rosegold or other such coloured threads are used nowadays yet the pastel theme is constant traditionally even before it became a mainstream trend
White sari with golden threadbborder is also the traditional Kerala kasavu sari as well. The more traditional thing is the neryath which is also a two piece. How similiar
Kerala women also traditionally wear 2 piece saree called set and mundu. Olden days everyone wear that, On weddings also we used to wear set and mundu , very similar to Assamese Mekhla. Only difference is in Kerala it’s white and gold border. It’s so easy to wear, no pleats needed.
Our Assamese bride also wears dat during main marriage hawaan..mekhela sador in white n borders n flowers in golden colour. Originally it was white but wt time colours came in.
Yes .an off white colored...and it has golden borders...now there are silver, bronze, and many colors, designs...the beauty of it is that it can be worn on any occasions, marriage, temples, any pujas, any festivals..it looks elegant..

Thanks for making this video. ❤️ Mekhela chador is a common traditional attire of Assam. It comes in multiple types of fabric. My mother and grandmother make handloom mekhela chador. A lot of friends of mine in Mumbai tried this because it is very easy to wear & carry, also looks beautiful.
In andhra we were langa voni, pretty much same thing!! Especially the way worn in light pink and then white before tabu was shown. That is exactly how langa voni is worn!!
I would definitely going to buy this when I have to wear saree , first they are gorgeous looking and second I can drape it easily❤❤❤❤. I think it's been added in my wishlist to buy it after I able to purchase pure Banarasi silk saree😅😅😅. Want more such videos specially dresses from different regions which are hand woven.

The way you introduced mekhela sador in your video is not doing justice to this traditional attire of Assamese women. This is a prestigious attire that belongs to Assam. And plz don't mention mekhela sador merely as a replacement of saree. Probably you made yourself familiar with sador mekhela only by looking some celebrities opting for this dress.

Thank you for giving sador mekhela recognition through your video. Feeling proud as an Assamese. Sador mekhela is one of the most gorgeous traditional attire.
The mekhela pleats stays on the right side... This is what makes mekhela makes difference with saree... And the sador is a separate sheet which you can wear according to your style.... Mekhela sador is a very beautiful dress of Assam ❤

You don’t need to downvote saree just cuz you are proud of Mekhla chador, both are beautiful in their own ways.
Not in Assam northeast all tribe use mekhala
She is not trying to demean Saree, it's a fact that Assamese women wear Sador mekhela in everyday life. While we wear saree occassionally.
Sanjukta Dutta, an Indian designer, adds a modern twist to the traditional Mekhela Chador, by blending its elegance with contemporary style.

This is so similar to settu mundu of kerala, which is also two piece.
Mekhela Chador ❤
PRIDE OF EVERY ASSAMESE WOMAN ☺️♥️♥️❤
I am from Assam and mekhela sador
is my traditional dress ❤
In kerala its called 'set mundu '. Instead of wearing saree we often use this.
Set mundu nd mekhela sador is different. The only similarity is both of them are in two pieces.
Both are different. I have worn set mundu. Mekhela is a skirt, Mundu is dhoti like.
Its mekhela sador traditional dress of Assam
In southern parts of India we wear a skirt and then drape a piece of cloth as shown in the video. We call it dhavani or half saree
