I like Jay, he's delightful! I hope he comes back in with more things to sell. I'd love to be friends with him and and I would enjoy his stories. I buy old instruments too, but the ones I don't keep I donate to schoolchildren. I still have my clarinet my parents bought me when I was eight, never learned to play it well, but I can honk out a passable "When I'm 64". I better start practicing that song, as I'll be 64 in a year and some change.
I looked up my old clarinet online, and was touched when I found it's a top quality horn for a student, made in France of ebony wood, not plastic. My parents paid good money to get me a quality instrument, but it's not worth much now because brass and woodwind student horns are so ubiquitous. I loaned it to a friend's daughter who played it in marching band and she returned it in good condition with all new pads 3 years later. I'm glad I was able to give her the opportunity and so proud of her!
My 31 year old son would love that 12 string. He plays guitar, but no longer has one and I haven't found him a replacement that I can afford yet. My son has schizophrenia, and playing music really helps him focus his mind. I think he would love to meet Jay. Too bad we are so far away.
I don't think Jay was trying to rip Pete off. When you look at these well made older instruments it's hard to believe they don't sell for much, but that's the market. I could help him list things on eBay, I used to get good prices for junk. I sold a stuffed vintage Dino the dinosaur toy I paid a quarter for, it sold by auction for $67! I felt a little guilty about that, but the buyer was thrilled as it completed his set of 1964 Flintstones toys. I've sold some weird stuff in the past, always amazed at what people would pay for things, like old used concert t-shirts.

You always wait for them to say a price, and then you have to always say a lower price, spread some love, these people are bringing in the things for you to buy ,and then for you to sale to make money, you poor mouth everything, until you buy it ,and then it's the best thing since sliced bread,

Yes, that Flugelhorn was most likely worth more than the banjo, I looked it up and that brand is quality instrument. They actually have sold for more than $1000. I think Pete will at least break even on the banjo, but the real value is in this video! I enjoyed "meeting" Jay and I hope he comes back soon! He's a delightful man. I was really hoping he'd play that banjo, though. He's talented and I'd love to hear him talk about his life experiences. I wonder how many instruments he can play?
I really don't think he was being dishonest. Those were pretty good quality instruments he had, it's just that student band instruments are so ubiquitous that they can be bought for cheap.

My generator came useful ten days after moving into my house because the power company shut the power off for 22 hours and we were the only ones in the neighborhood with power and lights! It also came into use again when the power was off for four days and I put it in one of the outbuildings to deaden the noise and I ran my two story house the whole time and I barely used a gallon every ten hours! It’s a cheap, harbor freight 400 watt predator generator and it never failed me. I had to modify the petcock because the point broke off when removing the fuel line to drain it but I threaded it with a tap and crewed in a 1/4” brass fitting and it hasn’t been a problem since. I just run some fresh gas through it with the float bowl removed to flush it out and then connect it and fill with fresh gas and it started every time with the first pull. I was surprised that harbor freight had such a good generator. I usually stick to hand tools like wrenches and hammers and the like but for a power tool, recommend it. I normally don’t recommend power tools from them because they always broke down but that generator had me rubbing my head!😅

Unless you live in a country, or you are a framer who needs to run tools for the day or two before the panel wall is built and the meter and single outlet is installed, buying a generators is a colossal waste. Food is not going to spoil in a couple hours. Heck, even overnight. You could leave everthing in your fridge on the counter overnight and it's not gonna spoil. And it would take nearly that long for the stuff in your freezer just to melt, much less spoil.

I love Your content Pete, (also Ruby and Honey are quite the HIT!!! I find your channel extremely entertaining, humanity is so strange it’s funny how most people think their items are worth a mint and assume You’re in business not to make any money!! I’m in Maryland I wish You were closer. Great Shop and Great Channell. I notice You don’t do loans like a pawn shop, do you just buy and sell? Are loans too much of a pain? That Cat Honey has an amazing personality. I had a similar Cat that I had to put down, only time my Wife saw me cry, she was balling her head off 😭 if you’re not a Cat person you cant understand the relationship

My parrot loves seeing those birds! Deagan, my snarky little Senegal parrot wasn't a fan of the saxophone. He screamed his beak off when Jay was playing that. Poor Deagan, probably having flashbacks of the last time he painfully endured my honking on my clarinet.

You missed a big score on the flugelhorn. That's the best most sought-after brand. It's in good condition, and all horns from this brand of that age sell for a minimum of 1000 dollars. I'm willing to bet that one was between 1750 and 2500! Have a bit more patience and look online for items you have no knowledge about. Excuse yourself to the restroom and check on your phone. You could have both made out happy.

Never pull a record (LP) out of it's sleeve using the finger and thumb on the records edge. It wrecks the record by depositing grease into the starting track no matter how clean your hands are. Always nice for me to watch your content.
