Guys, please buy wagons instead of boring SUVs. For instance, this A4 drives way better than a Q5 with the same amount of practicality. So I really don't see why the heck not. My next car will be A4 or A6 all road depends on my budget.
Just got back from the dealer comparing the A4 Allroad vs the Q5; it's no contest, the Allroad is SO much more fun. 248hp in the Q5 is adequate but nothing amazing. This engine in the Allroad is a BLAST, and it handles so much better.
The A4 Allroad is a great car. It handles, just the right size, performs better than any overrated SUV. However, it still needs better wheel design options and the arm-rest needs to be elevated for comfort, the wood trim on the instrumentation needs to be open pored, not the 'fake' eighties wood trim. This car performs well as a daily driver, actually it surpasses expectations!
This video did it for me. I have driven both the A4 and the A6 allroad. It was very obvious to me that the A6 was a large, heavy car...far less engaging to drive than the A4. The A4 is the wagon for the "driving enthusiast". The A6 is serene! Great car if you need the room of an SUV but don't want an SUV. I LOVE the A4 ALLROAD. I like feeling more in touch with the road. I'm considering a wagon for my next car. I got my first SUV last time and it's just not as fun to drive as a sedan. It's great for storage, but I miss the handling of my old sedan.

SUV/CUV is the evolution of the Station Wagon at least in the market they address (Soccer moms). Wagon to the minivan and now the stuff we have now. Still better than the 90s Minivan fad. Not sure if you're old enough to remember but they were saying sedans were dead then. Short of an RS6, few wagons look sicker than a nicely optioned allroad. Wagons drive like Cars too unlike Vans or SUVs so they are truly the best of both worlds.
I'm actually a fan of the brown wood on the interior. I think it adds a nice contrast and it does feel classic luxury to me, which I love. But I definitely agree with you on the cargo nets. I never like when manufacturers put hard plastic on the back of the seats. It looks and feels cheap to me and is very harsh. Just make it soft on the back! Because if you're in a tight squeeze, it's torture to have your knees hitting hard plastic.
Love the comment about the 80's seafood shacks! I have read in other places the A4 Allroad feels like a car but has the height of a crossover. Great review!
