Glad to see you protecting the rest of the woods from damage the best you can, Steve. I couldn't stay and watch the carnage where you were before. It was like clearcut after that machine cutting. Thanks for posting. Wedge use would be a good topic for videos.
It's all about what the Forester and or landowner want. There's a place for production crews who move a lot of wood but might not do the cleanest job, and there's a place for guys like Stevie who take the utmost pride in being a good steward leaving things better then they found them. Takes all kinds of kinds
Good job Steve. I've got some of the long ones and the barbed ones. Take care and be careful out there and have a blessed day and I'll see you on your next vidja.
No fiber pull close to ground good control of drop. At first I thought you was trying to keep off a fence line. Good job watching you is like watching someone play pool oak in the corner of the logger road.
Picked up a jack for those days my joints ain't up for the wedging..28 ton Borntrager..but then again wedges are lighter in the pocket I know..I keep it nearby now.
Red head is K&H . It definitely takes all kinds to get’em on the ground. For me it always seems like the only time a wedge shoots out is when it’s the worst possible time. That’s why I always set 2 no matter what.
Hey billow, what do you recommend far is wedging really hard trees like Hye-jin Locust because hedging Logan seem to launch wedges out 2030 feet I do not hold a wedge do you think I like those Barb I deserve the best ones?
Old Skool carried a whole 5 gallon bucket of wedges. I don't think I have ever seen anyone use the amount of wedges he beats in. It was moving but I thought you were gonna have to double up on this one but she down!👍
Ur wasting energy not given tree time to settle 1 2 wait 1 2 wait I'm no pro yet but I've noticed when I wedge if I hit few times wait it goes easier. I'm sane way carry backpack full of different wedges
Iv been logging for 12 years and know that when I hit a wedge and its solid theres no time to wait. Once you start lifting a heavy leaner you dont want to wait, you will lose your forward drive and will wedge hard the whole way. Thanks for your comment
Yeah leaners definitely don't want to wait you're right about that... I use sledge hammer to drive wedges so when I've got trees leaning or just equal on weight in the top n just want to stand there I can drive them fast n hard when it starts moving
I know you've been logging for awhile a lot longer then me I've just got few yrs in logging but got like 8 yrs in cutting yard trees which usually suck ass to wedge over cuz tops so big n spread open I stood for 45 Mins driving wedges on Black Walnut during summer cuz it was leaning over Rd n tord power lines u couldn't get a pencil up my ass with a jackhammer my butthole was so puckered

Using multiple wedges to distribute the load makes them go over easier for sure.

No better test for your stamina than pounding wedges in a stubborn tree lol
They get me huffing every time
Thata boy
Is your new job all hand cutting Stevie
Yes and maybe some hauling but not much if I do
Red head is K&H I think. Hey can we get a story of how you started cutting trees?
Iv thought about the cutting video details but it would be long

I am a boatbuilder in Maine . makes me sick to think of a tree like that turned into veneer. thats good boat lumber that does not grow here.

Seriously I'd pay to watch u cut so I could learn more
@@indianafirewood7958 come hang out with me some time and watch
Get as geeky as you want. Not all of your subs are loggers.
