- This is a profile of the SCB, or school community based special education program at James Hubert Blake high school in Montgomery County, Maryland. A team of teachers, administrators and specialists come together each day to support and teach these students.
Being a special ed student all my life it turned me into one. I remember the day I told my school's special education teachers " I'm going to be a special eduation teacher it may take me longer than most but this is my career" from that day they did their best to prepare me for my career and college admissions. It's taken me 2 years to become a sophmore but I'm a step closer. This career was ment for me and it's my calling. What better person than one that understands their world?

I’m an Ed student and In IEP. I love being being one because it’s who I am. My teachers are amazing and being in High school is so fun. It’s hard finding my career but I hope I can find one.

I was in special ed all because my thought I had a problem with speech. I finally got out of the class when I was in 7th grade because I was given some test and the teachers realized I didin't need the class because I had a good reading comprehension and an average IQ. I was placed in a ICT class. Now I'm in highschool taking regular classes and getting A's and B's.

This teacher is so patient and good. I can't believe how calm she is for her first year. It is great that the school offers so much support. She is so nice and positive with these kids. I hope I can do the same.
The teachers like her,seem to be sent behalf of God. This much patience is awesome, and I liked her creativity and energy. She knows what to do with each individual.
I would have treated em like wild animals at the zoo except that i actually feel for animals and i have tons of empathy for them and i am planning to work with animals very soon

when I was in fourth grade I was put into special ed because of aspergers that class was hell I had no one to talk to everyone was either autistic or physically disabled

When I was in fourth grade I had something similar to a special education class but I would go to a part-time in school days because I needed help with my math and I dealt with the loss of my mother. When my mother died. the school took it as if nothing happened and I would get in trouble for crying in class! This happened when I was in kindergarten and it happened all the way up until fourth grade. Then I started getting home-schooled
When I was in special education, I felt a deep depression in my heart which is "Segregation".
Also the other kids from general population pity you and look down on you because now they think you’re dumb, including my crush who thinks I’m weird now and she avoids me as much as possible.

Same bro, I have a high IQ and I was still put in there. Probably because of anger management.
I finally got out of SPED at the age of 13 but then later I kept having PTSD from it because how they always grab me and punishing me for telling them to stop treating me like crap and for correcting them too much. I don’t consider to have autism because I worried someone will control me if I do have it just like when someone claims you as crazy against you, then like doctors or police or any other workers can do anything to you for an example. My friend who used to be in my regular high school class tried to help me to make me forget about what happened when I was at SPED system but I just couldn’t forget. I remember how I hated when special ed teachers forced me to sing with other SPED students and forced me to watch Little kids show. Also remembered that I was so pissed when they took my book called Divergent because they told it’s “inappropriate” for me to read it. I told my friend that I was about to kill myself because of those past. He felt sad and worried for me so he took me to a temple with eastern religious people to learn about dealing with past, forgiveness, compassion, and learn how to be in peace. People were very nice there and they got free tea and coffee there. Right now I’m still learning from the temple

What a lovely teacher who sees each child as an individual who can reach goals. She's so caring and committed to her students. I expect by now she has done really well and leading others in a school.

I've worked with special education students now as a peer tutor for a couple of years and it's really inspired me to become a special education teacher. The teachers all try to accompany the needs of their students and find plans that work for the students. I think a vast majority of teachers actually try to help their students and help them succeed.
I have an interview in January as a NYC teaching fellow candidate for Special Education-Bilingual. I am so in awe of Emily's calm, cool, yet engaging demeanor. You're an inspiration!

I have to keep my special education program and my autism a secret from everyone because I am well aware of the stigma against autism and the bad treatment people commit. I hate the label. It’s a target for mockery, teasing, harassment, and belittling. People won’t want to be with you because of ur autism or disability. It’s how they are. It doesn’t matter if you behave “normally” if they find out you are disabled, then you are going to have a bad time at school. I was afraid of that, so I hid it. I knew if I blew my cover, my friends would leave and no one would go near me or talk to me again. I also won’t make friends ever again. I had to be sneaky and slick. Luckily, I never blew my cover. It’s sad and hard living with autism and the label of autistic. you have extra challenges and barriers to overcome. You will be met with stereotypes if they find out. You will be ridiculed and harassed. Life treats you worse than it does to a neurotypical person. Think of it as life but at a higher difficulty level.
It’s pretty hard to hide your status as a autistic, sped boy plus you don’t really have to worry much about the stigma. It’s not as bad as you think it is and many people or groups of people are still willing to accept you as a friend and treat you compassionately. Even moreso if you properly explain your situation. And even for those that do not accept you for being sped they are usually bad influences.
My grandson is participating in the special Ed program because he had a heart transplant and a stroke. He’s doing well! I appreciate his teacher sooo much! This was very touching ❤️😍
Bless this teacher and all she does. I work in SPED as a paraeducator and it’s not easy all. It takes hard work and dedication. Love this video ❤️

this is really touching. she’s is so patient with them and i can tell that she enjoys what she does. these kids are human being just like us and i’m glad that she sees that and treats them as such❤
I remember my parents and teachers thought I was special ed because I hated learning and all I liked to do was fool around. I then matured around 7 grade and then I started to focus on school. I took all regular classes and. I graduated with a 2.8 gpa
I help out in one of the few special education classes at my school (Walt Whitman HS, also in Montgomery County) and I love it! The kids are the sweetest and working with them makes my day so much better.

You have to love our teachers, giving every day what they have, sometimes having half days here and there but overall they’re champions! They need to be paid better for what they do for our children. It truly is a gift to be able to work with kids

I enjoyed watching this clip. This teacher was so pleasant and patient with all the children even during her crazy morning. It is great that the school staff offers her so much support and feedback. Being a Spec. Ed teacher is not easy at all but the end result from seeing the smiles on the students faces is a big reward to show how hard work does pay off.
Special education is the worst.... I’m being forced into it again for the second year and I honestly don’t even know why! All my grades are A’s and there’s an occasional B but that’s probably it! I’m pretty smart tbh and I know tons of other kids who would better fit in this than me! I feel like I’m only being put in this because I don’t talk enough but literally not talking enough has NOTHING to do with learning problems! Heck, I probably learn better because I actually bother to listen to the teacher other than talk all class long! I was pretty depressed before but SPED made it so much worse! During the time when I had it, I was probably at my lowest point in life and cut everyday I went home! I wanted to die so bad! I’m surprised I’m still alive to this day typing this! I’m still pretty traumatized by last year and am so not interested in doing a second year! It made my self esteem even lower than it already was which is pretty hard to do since it’s already so low lol.
I also feel like a teacher told the school to put me in SPED. That teacher HATED me! The school has done numerous tests on me like math, reading and speech tests and I did fine! Actually I did really well on the math one so I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing in SPED lol..... This whole thing stresses me out so much and I just needed to rant about it somewhere...... SPED is awful and should be removed or only put students that actually NEED it and not just whoever they want just because a teacher said to....

Dear Itz, you need an advocate. It is obvious to me you need to be in the least restrictive environment, and I can tell by your writing this is not in SPED. I am studying to be a sped teacher. You need to have your parents withdraw you and remove their consent form the current IEP recommendations and call for a new IEP team meeting and request this right away. They have to honor your decision by law. You have rights. Students with severe disabilities can be in full inclusion. You are obviously not intellectually disabled. Fight for yourself and demand to be placed back in general with accommodations. It is their legal right to remove consent. Once you are 18 you can remove yourself from the program and be placed in gen ed but don't wait. Demand to be placed back in gen ed.
Itz M Did you talk to your mom and dad? You should get a counselor away from school. Sometimes people don't get it, but a counselor is there for YOU. Keep your head up, and help the other people if you can. 😃Ask what you need to work on. etc

They said that i will never live a normal, successful livelihood. Well screw that! In my sophomore year I finally got out , My senior year I got my driver's licensure, worked a full time job, wrestled and was on the swim team, and got absolutely ripped. I am now going through air force MEPS to become an airman and a pilot. THE TIDE HAS TURNED, NOW.

@@itsvenombro3058 ironically they made me one. The teachers I had prepared me as best as they could now thanks to them I'm one step closer to the teaching program which I'm excited for. Sure I may be a sophmore now but I'm getting there.
This was such a great video to watch and it was even better to watch this teacher's methods on interacting with the students in her classroom. You can clearly see the compassion that she has for what she does and for this particular group of students. Most teachers would not be able to go through the same routine that she does everyday. It definitely does take a special person to work with students who have special needs.
I have a mild intellectual dissability and high functioning autism and I go to a special school I went to normal school struggled a lot and I felt dumb and I got teased a lot for not being able to do maths like the other kids my age but I was happy I had an awesome teacher who said this to me you are not dumb your special u have a gift not a lot of people have you have the power to see and perceive the world differently in a way no one else can see

Sheva Hercules. What an amazing teacher. She was great considering it was her first year. I love her quote." Teach them what they can do and not what they can't do". The life skills she was teaching them were great and one day they will become functional adults.
I remember the first time I realized that I was not in a normal place. I was confused and angry. They didn’t tell me about my autism until I was 12. I felt anger and confusion, as well as sadness combined to one complex emotion. I still remember that to this day.
This has been my life for 27 years as a special ed teacher. No wonder I am tired lol! It is different seeing it from the out side.

@@FlyingEagleAM Thank You! Teaching Special Education has been my dream job / Career since I was 15 years old. Now, I am 21 and still it's my dream job and career.
I'm in a special education credentialing program and I started out wanting to help students with learning difficulties, but over the years as an undergrad and a grad student that the tasks involved is easier said than done and I tend to get very set in my daily routines and I've had to take time off from my program to pass the CSET test. I sometime worry bout surviving in this type of eduction like classroom. Because even though I struggled with learning disabilities, I look at students like these and instinctively wonder "we have to raise them up with their cognitive and academic ability, how in the world am I going to do that" because it's a never ending challenge. I am familiar with lesson plans and IEPs but I've never built one from the ground up. Hopefully I can start student teaching this fall, but the thought of going into it scares me to death because have a lot weighing on my shoulders gong into it. All I want is happiness for myself, my future students and their families and the rest of the faculty.
Please God watch over me.
If you're in special ed like IEP, the classes they put you in Will hold you back and won't prepare you for Any sort of further education outside of high school like College. I have friends who were IEP and they're working very menial jobs and I feel so sorry for them.

There's no way out of it, either. I ALWAYS had high grades but I was in it from 2008 (kindergarten) to 2016. (end of 7th grade.)
As an 8th grade kid now, I was TOLD that I was leaving the Special Education classroom as a test run, but I kept complaining and complaining until I got what I wanted; full time general ed. Or so i thought; turns out that BOTH of the things that made me "special" (PT and OT) AND my iep actually FOLLOWED ME into this General Ed classroom that I love to death and now I miss 1st period every Monday and Tuesday because of them. For some reason, my IEP can't be opened UNTIL MAY OF 2017, meaning this is going to follow me FOR A VERY LONG TIME. POSSIBLY INTO HIGH SCHOOL.

I dont mean literally held back, I mean that people will always expect less of you, your less value, and it's a constant battle of trying to prove to them that you have no disability...because they wont believe you.

What an amazing program. I was not familiar with SCB programs. Teaching life skills is such an important part of learning for these students. The young teacher is amazing. Her enthusiasm and patience are genuine and you can tell she truly loves her job. The day of a SE teacher can be exhausting but is most often rewarding.
She just takes over like a mom 😭 so aware of every kid gives me chills. That’s hard to do with just one kid let alone a whole class ❤️
No doubt that is an overwhelming job. She’s like ive gotta go feed Maya! But at the same time a million things probably circling in her head but to focus and stay stable and calm and compassionate in that moment… and push other stuff aside, that’s stuff nurses do, plus she’s a teacher and developing a program and herself. Just blows my mind. People see a sweet lady but it takes a special person not only smart but lots of love and vision. And perseverance and positivity. If everyone had a little of this vision and ability to see what good can come if you apply yourself in other peoples’ lives and believe the world would be a better place.
I really enjoyed seeing this clip it reminds me so much of 2 of my schools that I went to in the late 80's early 90's, I love how the teachers and staff are compassionate about focussing on the students and providing lots of positivity and praise for them. I really like this lady and the clip she truly cares about these students and they all look so very happy.:)
I agree with KinsgstonSchool. These students are very lucky to have such a devoted teacher. I have a daughter with Special Needs and would be thrilled if she had a teacher like this that truly cares about, and loves her students. She fills their days with quality time and useful activities.
Please take care of yourself and find time for you, so you don't burn out.

Carla Linton. When I was in School. I was in Speacial Education Program and I had low Self-esteem because I was in Speacial Education Program. And when I Graduated from high school. I got a Special Education Diploma.

It was a pleasure hearing about the hard work that you accomplish as a special education teacher.
I’m thankful every day for my twin sister to have access to special ed. She’s got autism and epilepsy. I thank them for aiding her and helping her progress emotionally. She has made some amazing friends and she’s been making great strides academically. It has taken a lot off me and my mothers shoulders. And for making her happy, I am forever grateful!

I want to be a special need's teacher, but I'm worried about my emotions when I'm feline with it. I sometimes cry when I see them, not because I feel bad for them, but because they manage to stay happy through it all.
How can I become a successful special needs teacher? Are there any tricks to becoming a good one?
Just be nice and treat them normal. If someone is high functioning, DO NOT TREAT THEM LIKE AN IDIOT. I’m not in a special class but I had to go with the special kids on a school trip and the teacher talked to me like I’m five. Basically treat them like “normal people unless they can’t handle it.
It takes a special heart and a lot of patience and understanding. You’ll see a lot of things but the joy of seeing a child grow and blossom is so satisfying.
@@FirstnameLastname-ek6tz don't treat anyone "like an idiot" in general, thats what i've learned when getting my B.A. in teaching. Talk to everyone as if they can understand you and what you're saying. Look at them while speaking, not their assistant. Helps every student feel included.
heres a tip and advice: if u guys are studying/wanting to be a special ed teacher then its great to also volunteer or be in special ed programs like autism/special ed programs near u or special ed camps or events, its very educational and they always need helpers and volunteers and most of the time everyone is great and nice and the kids/adults who have special needs are very nice too and loving :D

Me, too! I just started my Master's Program to go into sped. I am so excited that I finally found my niche! I love these kids!
PS... I do not mind a bit spending the $24,000.00 it is going to take to get me through college to do this! I know it is what I love doing and where I am supposed to be!
Please do not treat them like shit , I had Mid Ed they treated me like shit , and at the end year in high school as 10 grader I look them in the eyes and said " Fuck you , since I was able to get an A plus in chemistry in MYP."

I just recently started thinking about how I feel when I talk to or work with a developmentally disabled/ special needs peer in my school and I have been wondering if that's something I could see myself doing professionally later in my life. This video was a really big help and a good look into what it's like to have this kind of job. I'm going to talk to some of the Special Education Teachers at my school tomorrow and I just wanted to say kudos to the person that made this video and to the wonderful woman teaching!!

+emily luedtke This is my third year teaching a similar type classroom for 4th and 5th graders. I also was a first year teacher starting a band new program in my school. Are you still teaching in the same classroom?
I've been to what's called FLS (short for Functioning Life Skills) during my elementary school years where I live. I had the most wonderful teachers. I was even lucky to go and visit my regular classrooms a couple hours at a time. (Mostly before lunch; sometimes afterwards depending on the grade I was in.) I then decided not to go there anymore as I got into Jr High and High school because I'm far more advanced than the kids older than me. My mother even said that I've been doing the 1:1 aide system since the 4th grade. Nowadays since I graduated in 2013, anytime I visit a public school, I feel like I don't belong in the special education classes. I felt like I belong with the other kids in a regular class. The good times I had in my years was during lunch, I'd sit and observe the kids and teachers to see how they enjoy their lunches.
I’m a SPED Instructional Assistant. I love my kids. And love watching them grow. They come so far by this time of the year. My question is, does this teacher have an assistant or aide? Maybe they weren’t in the video🤷🏽♀️ It gets pretty busy in these classrooms. 😌

Johnna, I too, am pursuing my career to become a special education teacher. I cannot think of any greater or more beautiful thing that working with my students for their success. I love the students I work with, now. They make me love my job so much, I am a para right now for a teacher in a Life Skills class. We go out into the community, work, and have a great time! We do Special Olympics games, have proms or dances, and also do Job Olympics. Our kids are never bored. :0)

Omg I love this video so much. As a special ed student, this teacher warmed my heart. She makes sure her students are okay and encourages them a lot. She had lots on her plate but she’s able to take them on like a pro. She has inspired me to become a special ed teacher when I’m a bit older. The principal was absolutely right when she said “there’s a special place in heaven for people who teach special education”

It is great that schools have this for children in need... I was put in this only because I'm deaf, so I got bored quickly and eventually, the school let me sit in the front row of normal classes (so I could lipread) and found an interpreter... I was happy for that!

Thank you so much for this video. Ever since I was in third grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My Mother, grandma and multiple uncles are all teachers. If you had asked me 3 years ago if I would want to pursue a career in Special Education I would I turned you down flat. Now it is all I can dream of. I am a high school junior; I plan on becoming a Special Education Teacher Assistant and then, ultimately moving up to either an inclusion specialist or a Special Ed. classroom teacher. Thank you so much for your grat example and passion for inspiring kids. It motivates so many people, people that you don't know are paying attention.

Sorry to break this to you, but no they wont...they treat them like little kids until the moment they graduate, and end up going into society with so poor education that it makes things like getting a job really hard. They could be functional, sure, but with curriculum like THIS? Treatment like THIS? It's nice, but they're in high school. Not pre-k. They are not letting them grow up. It's not because of how they are...it's about how this system will fail them.

So at the moment of my high school, here in Quebec I’m part of this program that they’re speaking about. And from my point of view, I’ve been so intelligent over my past years of school, till out of no where, which in particular they bring me in this class for one obvious reason telling me that I wasn’t doing good grades. I told them to at least give me a hand full of chances to redeem myself in this situation where I felt out of place in my school. Since when I was in that classroom, goodbye for having a normal life spend for your job career and future environment that’d you’re gonna think it will be perfect, which in reality it’s not the best thing ever. Getting bullied over one, and that was mostly because I was part of that class.
Each one of us REGARDLESS... are here with PURPOSE. It's a calm, genuine, loving Teacher( parent, granparent, caregiver, etc.)to stirp up the purpose WITHIN. Keep up the good work... 1 Cor.15:58. Thank for sharing.

But they are not good I am an Iraqi and they put me there because I was a shy girl and a need little help in reading and it didn't help me I hate it but now am out of and I am getting good grades
I had a rough time in the special needs program. I was there because I actually have autism, but I’ve gone a long way. All I have trouble with is social skills, my IQ, however isn’t below average. I was belittled, harassed, and talked down to as if I was retarded…I asked to be let out but they never did, i did have regular education classes tho. That’s still true to this day, I have always felt inferior to other kids because of the program and my disability. I wanted to die because of all of this. They didn’t help much in middle school and high school. I’m in high school now and that’s still true. I am quiet, but not dumb. I think I should be taken off special education and instead see a therapist in the school or outside of the school who can help with my social skills. They taught me easy stuff and stuff I learned beforehand. I felt like I was in kindergarten again and i felt insulted. It always was stupid easy, and still is, but that’s a problem because I am not learning new stuff. Colleges will deny me because of special education…great.
Have you talked to your parent(s)/guardian about this? They can pull you out of IEP
I understand it has been a year and I do not know if you still feel this way, but I agree with this outlook. From what I have seen that class is exactly like how you describe it. I also saw your other comment and 100% understand that as well. Just glad to know there are people out there who share my exact perspective on this topic, even if it is random.
I really liked watching this video clip! This particular is a awesome teacher. She is so great with her students. I also liked her goal for her students. She wants everyone to learn that people with disabilities are just like everyone else. I just realized how time consuming and difficult a special education teachers job is.

The majority of special ed teachers based on my personal experience we're very good very nice and extremely helpful. I feel that you all are an excellent contribution to the education system.
This is wonderful as I too want to be a special education teacher because I know it's my calling from the higher source; as Im patient and it is in my heart and soul to educate our special children from heaven.

I like that the sped teacher asks her students questions, and keeps going. I'm a substitute teacher who's subbed for sped classes. The students I encounter are mostly nonverbal and some need help with motor skills. So, I sometimes am not sure of expect students to do. So when she said, she hopes that people will have expectations beyond limits in regards to the students, that's a powerful hope. That's pushing me to think I can hold students up to expectations and keep trying.
I had a IEP in middle school until senior year in HS but I was put in a regular classroom and just got extra help.
I was in special Ed. The system is somewhat corrupted. It is a numbers game. There are incentives for the child study team to classify as many children as they can to be in need of an IEP. This leads to many false positives and students that do not actually need to be in the program end up being academically crippled. This often leads to less opportunities in the future to go to a university or earn more as they progressively fall behind compare to their peers. I do not support the special education system. It is a broken system.
I hope these babies are doing well in life ❤ they should all be 30 something’s by now

I was in Special Ed and it was a bit crazy at times. Got out in 4th grade.
Then moved. Kids were worse actually in the new school than they were in special Ed.
Finally in 10th grade the English teacher said special Ed kids are better than us.

My family adopted 15 handicapped children over the course of 30 years, there for I grew up with it ( I'm 20). I'm considering switching my major from nursing to being a special needs educator. This video had me in tears because I have such a love for these kinds of kids.

Please work to help teach whatever the general ed teachers are teaching if someone has a meltdown dont work around it work with it. And please dont just take the teacher's side in an altercation judge by you're heart not you're job do this and i promise you your special ed children will succeed. I dont want to see another life ruined by a 504,bip or IEP

One of my biggest criticisms of education systems that they don't actually spread awareness of disabilities of some of there students and everyone can get well educated and maybe give them the decency of of being a human.

Don’t any of y’all think that it’s stressing to be in a special education program when some of your friends have a bit more disabilities than yourself does & the administration doesn’t care about your friends but just yourself, especially when recovering from autism.
When I started Pre-K in Late 2009, I started as a normal student, but I didn’t know what to do then because I was only 4, so I was put in Special Education in Early 2010, but I still managed to get to Kindergarten. I was in Special Education all of the 2010-2011 school year as a kindergartener, & I was lacking to speak, so the administration held me back, & I was clearly the oldest student in a classroom, but the administration took me out of special education for my repeat on kindergarten, & I managed to get to 1st grade without special education, & I honestly think special education was never the answer anyways. Then I started to interact with more students in school, & I was doing okay as a true normal student until Late 2017 when I started middle school because the administration put me in special education for no reason. I have one friend who has more disabilities than I do, & the administration of my middle school didn’t care about my friend but just myself way too much. I didn’t realise I had special education in Late 2017, but when 2018 arrived, I realised it was special education I had, which was why the special education teacher’s assistant was in all of my classes to watch the students in special education. When I realised I was in special ed, I told the staff in special ed that I didn’t want to be in their program anymore because I didn’t belong in that program. In 7th grade, the special ed teacher didn’t care about me very much than in 6th grade, & I had a girlfriend in November 2018. When some of my friends realised I had special ed in 6th grade, they decided to make fun of me by snatching my lunch box away, & I was so pissed that I really need to act more mature in Early 2019 to get out of special ed completely, especially get good marks. Before starting 8th grade, I took the bridge program to take Algebra I before starting high school, I took Algebra I in 8th grade, & I did cross country as my athletic sport from September to October 2019. I thought being in Algebra I before starting high school & cross country would give me a break from special ed as I was completely a normal student from 26 August 2019 to 5 February 2020, I was much happier in autumn last year, but when December arrived, I started to have anxiety about the midterm exam on Algebra I, but I passed the exam, this I stay in Algebra I for next semester, but the week after taking the midterm exam on Algebra I, I started to have anxiety & stress over 2020 arriving as I fear 2020 will be worse than 2019, & COVID was around in December 2019, but not in USA, & I made a 65 in one class for the 3rd cycle, but I made a 77 in that class I made 65 in the 3rd cycle for the 1st semester. When 2020 arrived, I was all stressed out, & feeling depressed on how old I’m getting, then on the 2nd day of 2020, I decided to talk in a British accent to make me feel better, & I was like that almost all of 2020, especially when I’m in school, most students didn’t mind me talking in a different accent. I felt very mature, & intelligent in January this year until the 6th day of February this year when the special ed teacher starts to bother me again, & the special ed teacher & that one administrator started to talk about my past when I wanted to move on because we have to move with time, we cannot just be behind time talking about the past, we have to keep moving with time until death. The special ed teacher decided to switch my timetable for me to have a level 2 class when I was improving my behaviour, my marks, & my contact with others, but he didn’t believe me, so I was all stressed out again, the worse to come in March, the devil virus started to hit my place & the city had to shutdown, in Spring of this year online school wasn’t very bad for me until May when the special ed teacher was complaining about my 54 in my elective. I always knew special education was stressful. I had 2 friends who averaged 65 & 63 in one class for the 3rd cycle & averaged lower than I did for the semester, & the administration didn’t care about some of my friends, which was super unfair because they did poorly in the level 3 classes like I did, but only cared about me & not my friends. Now, I’m stuck being watched by the special ed teacher in high school now since I’m in high school, & I don’t think it makes sense that I’m taking geometry in 9th grade, & I need to have a special ed teacher watching me, but some of my friends are in Algebra I for 9th grade, & some of my friends have more disabilities than I do, & the administration just doesn’t care about them but just me. I fear I’ll still have the special ed teacher stalk me for 10th grade, but hopefully when I’m a junior & senior, I can be a completely normal student again, & I can be mature, intelligent, & free again. 2020, & school system, give us a break.

I used to be in special ed when I was in 6th grade because of how impulsive I used to be because of my ADHD. At that time I was made fun of by some people because of the class I was in and that made me want to get out of that class. In 7th I was put in a normal class and I was doing very well in that class and got good grades, and joke around with my teachers. I have no idea why I was in a sped class.
I have watched this video many times. and what she is doing is awesome. I am a 037 ( Soon to be 038 year old) Woman with autism ( Plus OCD and Learning disabilities) - I also have a master's degree in Special education ( actually have 02 other college degrees too which include an associate's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology- I would also love to go back someday and earn a Ph.d) - I am looking to be an aide in a special education classroom - my ideal would be working with Transition age and young adults. maybe someday, If I work really hard I can be special educator too.
I may be a special education kid....but I wish all the special education kids the best luck, I want to tell them that I am there for them and I will try and try to help them and see that there is a future for them...hope they can keep on and have so much hope and I hope the teachers will be there for there students
