My wife (Dawn) and I park hosted at Mineral Wells State Park for a few years and we can honestly say we had a blast taking care of the bird blinds and helping Ranger Dave with bird watching and other projects and my favourite thing to help Ranger Dave with was the cave tours. The staff are awesome to work with and left us with life long memories. This park needs to be on everyone's bucket list it is truly a hidden jim of what out doors is all about.
Notice the gap in the rocks at about 7 seconds into the video. As a small child, the family went for a walk around the lake. The gap scared me so bad I didn't want to cross over it. Years later at church camp there at the lake, we went for a hike along the same route as when I was little. When we got to the gap, for just a second the fear came back. I'm 73 now and happy I was able to find the place again. Thanks for the video.
If you want to do some backpacking and camping go to the Primitive Camping Trail and hike out to the primitive campsite. When you arrive follow the road to Cross Timbers Maroon trail to see some amazing views. I would recommend to go in the fall to see the leaves change color on the hills
Great video! We love visiting Texas State Parks! We live in West Texas so Parks for us are spread out a bit farther. Always worth the drive! Check out one of the more recent trips I took in the video below. ua-cam.com/video/rw_LxURhzt8/v-deo.htmlsi=VKZhn0ZYonPQ7TkE
