Hey y'all! Happy Sunday!! We hope you enjoyed this visit to Mineral Wells and Lake Mineral Wells State Park! This is the last video from our trip with Grammy Kay last summer. We had a fantastic time traveling with her! ❤️ We'd love to hear your stories from here. Please leave us a comment. If you've missed any of our recent travel videos, you can watch them here: ua-cam.com/video/dGbdv4DNt6g/v-deo.html . And how about those stuffed jalapenos in yesterday's video?!? ua-cam.com/video/mpRdWDjJo-A/v-deo.html They were so good!! 😁
I know this video is almost 2 years old, but I just HAD to leave a comment. :) I grew up near MW at Possum Kingdom Lake. And when I say grew up there, I wasn't a weekender, I lived on the lake my whole childhood and went to school in nearby Graford. MW was a hangout for everyone from all those small towns around there. I go through there often and have friends who still live there. MW will ALWAYS be a part of my heart! Thank you for showcasing it!
I grew up in Mineral Wells and first started fishing the lake before it was a state park. During my 40 plus years here, I have been blessed to visit the lake at least 1000 times. In the 1980s I was fortunate enough to have seen a mountain lion on two different occasions. The first in 1985 and the second in 1989 but I have not seen one since then. Growing up there I kind of take the lake and the town for granted so it is nice to see my little town through someone else's eyes. Thank you for doing this story.
We're happy that you enjoyed it. We really enjoy the area and look forward to exploring more in the future. What a great area to live in! We wonder if the mountain lions are still around there? Good to know for our next trip... we'd like to hike at least part of the trailway.
Thanks forc the trip to Mineral Wells. I was stationed at Fort Walters for a short time in 1968. Might check out the campground when we go through Texas spring 2021. 😳
I live here. We often drive the 2 miles for weekend camping. I’ve made a couple of videos about it. I got to go inside the Baker. Renovation is not complete but still going on in 2023.
We loved Lake Mineral Wells SP. We rode our bikes on the trail all the way to Weatherford and back. The trail is really nice and unlike many RR beds, it did not follow alongside a roadway. It passes through meadows, woodlands, etc. lots of wildlife to see along the way.
Thanks for the tour! We were over that way a few months ago, but didn’t get to stay and play. Just moved up on my list. Love me some Crazy water... I’m a three all the way.
Your videos are so good! Lots of good content and straight to the point. My husband and I are reenergized to explore what Texas parks have to offer because of your videos. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! We are happy to share and are so glad to hear that y'all are enjoying the videos. We have a lot more on the way! Safe travels and happy camping!
Awesome Mike! We were just talking about Lake Mineral Wells this weekend. It is a nice park. And we hear that the Baker Hotel renovations are moving right along in town.
Camped there about 20 years ago and it was very nice. We unfortunately arrived during a week in the summer when there was some kind of spider spawning event. There were thousands of spiders leaving webs across every path, walkway, road and doorway. All of it appearing overnight. The wife was not amused. Keep the videos comin'!
Oh gee I've tried all of the waters and haven't been able to tell the difference except the price point. I do get it every once and awhile as what can it hurt. Nice park. Great seeing Grammy Kay again even though it was from last summer. Hope your doing well and be safe. Love y'all
Thanks Leann! To us, the straight water tasted a little more earthy on the higher numbers. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to going back. And yes, we're doing just fine. Thanks so much. Hope you are too.
Recently visited this park and it was amazing, the spillway was cool. We even deceived to check out the town and wasn’t disappointed. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Really enj'd this visit, Tom and Staci (Grammy Kay, too!). Have a bro and his fam in Haslet; they're gonna be EXCITED hearing abt this video. Also, well-known horse trainer Chris Cox has facility there in MW. Look forward to visiting the area. Y'all Be Safe!
Happy Father's Day Tom!! I enjoy your videos very much. I hope to meet you some day (hopefully sooner rather than later) I think you guys are looking a bit slimmer 🤔😃. Keep up the good work 👍🥳
Thanks so much Mayra! We appreciate it so much. Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to comment. We're always working to get healthier, and being in these parks definitely helps with that. We're a lot more active when we're out here. Hope to cross paths with you somewhere out there.
All our Texas state parks have something to offer-so much choice! Thanks for sharing your adventure! I just read an article in the May 2020 edition of “Trailer Life” reviewing the Alliance ‘Paradigm 370FB’ and thought of ya’ll and your conversation with Bob Tiffin pre-COVID days. The Tiffin name isn’t mentioned specifically, only that it is a “startup launched by industry veterans.” Anyway, wanted to let you know about the article and that I was paying attention to your Tiffin conversation. LOL You guys take good care and thanks for all your time and energy. Having fun can be hard work!
Hey Sandy! Thanks so much! Just to clarify, the Paradigm is built by Alliance RV which is a different RV industry family ... the Brady family. The Tiffin family’s fifth wheel line is called VanLeigh. Both family businesses. 🙂
Thanks so much for your super informative videos! We plan on hitting the road right after Christmas and visiting some of the beautiful places you've shown us!
Good Evening Y'all ☕️! We're trying to get caught up on our UA-cam since we've been gone for a week or so. Just want to say we just got back from Broken Bow, OK and Mountain Fork River. We parked our rig in the SP there which was nice but no cell or wifi signal to speak of and only a few sites have 50amp and most have H2o. No sewer hook-ups but they do have a dump station but the scenery and clear mountain water make up for it all. Glad y'all did a few review on Mineral Wells SP and I heard someone was planning on opening The Baker Hotel back up! We always thought boy if we could put Hot Springs, Ark and Mineral Wells, Tx together we'd have something there!
Hey Ben! Welcome back! Glad y'all had a fun trip. Sounds like we need to check out that state park in OK! What is the name of the park? A mix of Hot Springs and Mineral Wells... that would be quite the place!
@@rvamericayall Beavers Bend State Park just north of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. We met some friends up there and really didn't know just how beautiful that area was.
I love that park. Lots of deer to be seen and it's a small town park. My aunt (Ginger) lives in Mineral Wells. I've been to that park on several occasions and have never been disappointed. I also like the town and keep looking forward to the day when the investors finally rebuild the old Baker Hotel there on the edge of downtown. There were some natural pools/springs in the bottom of that hotel; I've always been intrigued by them. My aunt Ginger has lived there since around the early seventies I think. Edited to add: The original NEW investors in the "Baker Hotel" had hoped to make a gaming casino out of it. It's sat empty for years and years, deteriorating but "finally" garnered some interest in the hopes of gambling. Then the wind began blowing in the opposite direction and the gambling came into question. (Not unheard of in this very conservative state.) You mentioned that it will be reopening in 2022; I'm glad to hear that (and hope that's an accurate and realistic expectation as the hotel is truly a beautiful work of art).
Hey Michael! We're hoping what we've heard about the Baker renovations are true too. It sold to a new group right before we were there last year, and there were folks actively working inside the fences. So, hopefully, that's a good sign of things to come. 🤞
Your videos make me want to visit Texas. However, it's a big state and I'm not familiar with it. It would be helpful if you showed a map of Texas at the beginning with the location highlighted, to orient me. Also, it would be nice to know what month you're there, so I can get a feel of what to expect from Texas climates. We always enjoy your videos, your great attitudes, and your smiling faces & contagious laughs.
Thanks for the suggestions Bob. We'll work those in for future videos. We were at Lake Mineral Wells last summer (mid-July). It's located in North Texas, west of Fort Worth.
Hi Bob, I hope you don’t mind, I added a link to a website that has a good map of the different regions in Texas. Weatherford, is almost at the crossroads of the Panhandle and Prairies & Lakes. Some regional maps give the impression that Weatherford could also be in Hill Country. We live in North Fort Worth, and Mineral Wells is about 60 miles West. Hope that helps a little, safe travels! Edit: I had to replace the link, you will see a good description here for the different regions. www.touropia.com/regions-of-texas-map/
I lived in Ranger Texas almost all my life so I moved to Alabama but I'm not getting you off notifications for some reason anyway love your videos y'all keep it up
Sorry to hear you're not getting the notifications for our videos, Eric. Thank you for seeking them out. Please go to our channel and make sure you have the little bell icon selected. It's next to the Subscribe Button. ua-cam.com/users/rvtexasyall
Some may not know that the Guard still have a training base on the back side of the park and the park trail goes right along the side of the base property line for a little ways. Some of the best helicopter pilots trained at this base. Lots and lots of history. You have to make plains to go when Ranger David puts on one of his cowboy programs with the cowboy history and poetry that he does so well. Loads of things to do in this area.
There is a picture of my great grandmother at mineral Wells when she was a young girl in a bath. if I was to guess I’d say maybe she was 14 so I’m wondering if it was the early 1920s the bath she was in look like a old water storage tub I would love to see some pictures of that place back in the day but the picture was labeled. ”mineral Wells”
Wow! That is really neat. We'd love to see more pictures from its hey day also. The Famous Mineral Water Company that we went to had a few items on display.
Wish I knew if you were still here I'd treat you to lunch. How old is your mom? Mine just turned 95 and travels and lives with us . Can you tell me how you did your sleeping arrangements for her. Thanks and hugs🤗💓
Thanks so much Robin! We actually filmed this video last summer during our trip with Mom. It's the final video from that trip. Mom will be 80 this year. She slept on the couch while she traveled with us.
Funny thing is that white Yukon behind yall is owned by the son of the man that loaned money to build the lake cause at the time they could get the money to build it from the state.

Looks like a really nice place to explore
We really enjoyed it!
This was great, headed there in March. We used Wolters as a training site in the Guard 2003. Look forward to reminiscing a bit.
Cool

Thank you for your service James! We enjoyed our visit to the park and Mineral Wells.
My Great Aunt (long gone) worked at the Baker. She had some stories !

We had such a great time on that trip with you. Thanks for going! ❤️
Happy father's day Mr. Tom and may every traveling moment deliver pleasurable journeys to you, Ms. Stacie, Grammy Kay and Star.
Thanks so much Frankie! We appreciate you being a member of the community. Hope you're having a great day!
I love camping at Lake Mineral Wells. So beautiful and full of history. And, best part is, no motorized boats or jet skis on the lake!! ❤️❤️❤️
We agree Judy! We look forward to going back and kayaking.
Happy father's day , enjoyed the campground review thanks. ☮️
Thanks so much Frank! Happy Father's Day
Great video. The entrance is even more fun if it is splashing over the top as you drive by.
Thanks Bill! You’re right. It was splashing over on another drive by. Definitely a different experience!
Again this is such a great video and a great place to go we definitely have that on the list for this year👍👍
Awesome Mike! We were just talking about Lake Mineral Wells this weekend. It is a nice park. And we hear that the Baker Hotel renovations are moving right along in town.
