I am screwed. I have two screws that require a special Allen wrench, a very tiny wrench. Seems like mine was made so that you have no option but to call a locksmith
Thanks! My parents had this model and I had an older model. Theirs had an extra screw at the bottom so I had to unscrew that too to access the battery. The black plastic cover also has an extra screw. Once I removed that, I was able to lift the plastic cover off for easy access to the battery without having to remove the shroud completely. 👍
On this lock there are 3 screws that hold cover on. one on each side of cover and one on bottom. This may be a different model then the one I have but it looks exactly the same and battery replacement is the same. You may want to check bottom of lock for that 3rd screw just in case cover doesn't come off.
@TheTimerPitt for the win.... It took me longer to find 4 AA batteries than to actually replace them in the door lock. Easy things to fix around the house.
Mine has 3 screws, one on each side and one on the bottom. Almost impossible to get if off, not enough space between door knob and bottom screw to use screw driver. Might need a sledgehammer
Straight to the point without any useless information. Thank you very much
You bet! Glad to help!
God I love videos like this where they just you how to do it instead of talking around it.
Glad I could help!
Thank you. On mine, I was able to slide off the plastic piece, then pull the battery pack up. No screws involved.
That works too! Thanks for watching 😊
I did this but mine isn’t locking and code isn’t working
It’s was helpful for me because I thought it’s like yours but mine it’s with screws 😘👍☺️
Same with mine. You don't have to take the screws out.

Mine had a third screw on the bottom. Awesome video, no fluff.
Appreciate the kind words! Glad to help!
Might be different for some models, but on mine you can slide the black plastic cover up and off to access the battery pack. No tools needed.
That works too!

Did you replace all four batteries?
Yes!
Thank you father

Hi I’ve replaced batteries as I’ve done numerous times and the kwikset is completely dead no flashing lights at all. Please advise
Same here. How did u resolve?

No problem! Glad to help!
No you press and slide the black cover up and pull the little tab to get to the batteries
That works too 😊
When I put the battery pack back in it won’t stop beeping it’s a continuous beep and it doesn’t work
What if it’s still blinking yellow?
Why mine need change battery in 2 weeks?
I removed the screws after we moved in.
Do not mis-match the batteries!!
Don't mismatch the batteries!
My batteries only lasted 4 weeks! Ridiculous Kwikset.
I've had some batteries too that didn't last long! Normally the batteries I use tend to last about 6 - 8 months!
@@TheTimerPitt They told me to add more wireless hotspots closer to the locks so they aren't pinging so hard to get signal. We shall see.
All you had to do was remove the black cover and remove the battery pack...no screws
My passwords stopped working after replacing the battery. Is that normal or do I have to reprogram the whole thing? 🥲
