Finally we get to see the mythical Uncle Chris. It's about time. You have to love watching the tractor tires and their optical effects. Some look like they are running backwards and at other times like they aren't moving at all. Like watching stage coaches on old westerns.
Katie, i heard this one about 30 years ago. "I asked a farmer what he would do if i gave him a million dollars- he thought about it and said -- I'd farm and farm and farm- untill it was all gone!. Take care!
Kate, Your father and his brother have a fortune invested in equipment. I myself believe John Deere is the best overall quality money can buy. I am sure you are part of a hardworking successful farm and if you somehow learn half of what your dad and uncle know , ( dad’s brother) you I am quite sure would be a wonderful pick to keep your farm healthy and working in the years to come. I am happy that at 17-18 you have taken an interest and you are smart and a great choice I am sure . I find your episodes educational and always interesting. Keep up the good work !
Kate your enthusiasm is so contagious. I wish all young adults would watch your videos to learn how to be respectful and kind. Your father, grandfather, uncle and Darcy are the type of men others should strive to be. They are hard working and change with the times. I know I’m only judging them from what I see in your videos, but how different can they be off camera. When I watch you interacting with them it’s so refreshing to know they have confidence and trust in you4 abilities. I’ve been wanting to comment for a while now just wasn’t quite sure how to put it. Any video you choose to post in greatly appreciated. Be safe and be well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and for your super kind words!!!! I really appreciate them. I learn so much from my family and I love to listen to what they have to say. It is really special to me. I know a lot of people my age don't really like to listen to older people but I think they are really missing out. I learn about all kinds of things from farming to real estate to finance to flying planes to my heritage. I am very fortunate they take the time to explain things to me. I think it is exciting that our farm was homesteaded by my Great Grandfather and I hope that it keeps going to a lot more centuries too!!!!!
Thats how my father brought me up. being respected is a great feeling, like my dad has always said treat others how you want to be treated. that's a life lesson ill take to my grave as well as my son. Kate its awesome seeing a women my age so interested in farming and being so educated in farming. thank you for being a positive person! Its vary refreshing watching your videos! keep up the good work!
I'm glad that the farmers have figured out how to keep the soil in Montana and North Dakota, because i remember in the 59s our skies in Duluth,MN would be brown in color and you could hardly see the sun. When we got rain our cars and windows of our house would be full of brown spots. That was when I was a boy. Maybe that is why we have fertile soil here. My daughter reminded me that other than having trees to harvest, I also harvest maple sap and produce maple syrup. Last year I got 6 gallons of syrup. Yum yum good on pancakes. Bye Bye!
Excellent vídeos, excellent information, excellent job, thank you so much for your patience, thank you so much for your time, god bless you all time and always,
Great interaction with your uncles. Cherish the time that they're with you. I'm a lot older than you are but I sure do cherish my memories of working with my uncles I was pretty young and didn't have a lot of time with them. Been away from the farm a lot of years your enthusiasm for farming sure makes me miss it. Sure do enjoy watching your dad and his brothers and your grandfather work together.
I've unfortunately been away from your channel for awhile. Your videos have improved. Congrats. I like the extra detail you have put in. I'm always interested in the new technology. Keep it up. 😀👍
Hello from Germany I wish you all a good start into the new season! In a few weeks you can see the first delicate plants. Compared to what I know, this seed drill is gigantic. You are all doing important jobs, thank you. Above all, stay healthy!
Love your videos Glad to see your GrandPa on the video I love it when you show your family Your videos are very informative I am not a farmer but I love to see how it is done I am just a consumer so you are building a bridge from farmers to consumers Thank you very much
Thank you so much for your kindness!! I am so glad to hear that I'm building a bridge from farmers to consumers, which is my mission!!!! You made my day.
Hello Kate thanks for the video love how your uncle talk about setting the drill very interesting I've never run one that big laugh out loud hearing Kentucky we had one that big we would be able to turn it around tell Grandpa I said hello can't wait for next video stay warm
Great video again Kate, let's hope the weather is good so the planting goes well, loads of useful information thanks, good to see grandad again bet he's seen some changes, stay safe keep smiling.
Love your channel. I have a farm in Minnesota and so interesting to see farming/Agriculture differs from one area to another. You do a fantastic job of showing how you folks operate yours!!!!
Grandpa is quite the guy he should start a channel. By the way your Uncle Chris has a great name! Thank you and the family for the information and efforts.
Hi Mr. McGann! LOL yes I agree. Grandpa would have a really great channel! Oh yes Chris is a great name! Thank you for your super kindness and great encouragement! Happy Easter!!!!! Mom says hello and thank you too!
Good sowing, good germination we say here, your uncle is wonderful with humor, your grandfather who is proud of you Hi Kate today I put you excellent for the video you shot
Thank you so much for your kindness! My Uncle Chris has great humor, I agree. Grandpa and I spend a lot of time together because he is really terrific!
We've been growing lentils for close to twenty years over here in Outlook, MT. Richleas are a good variety for sure. I'm super happy to see more montana farmers embracing the extremely valuable pulse biodiversity the lentils offer. Simply put, in the long term, it's healthier for the soils, and it can be relatively cheap to grow. However, we're still old school enough that we still have to manually calibrate our drills, hahaha. This was fun to watch. Thanks for uploading!
Thank you for your kind comment and interesting story! We agree that pulse biodiversity is really important. Yes, my Uncle agrees too about the manually calibrating drills!!! LOL I appreciate your info.
Wow, Kate the farms I worked had same equipment, I actually know how to do all that calibrating. Spent many a 14-16 hr day in same tractor, easy work as GPS drives. Carry plenty of snacks !
Way to go Kate, another excellent video of your beautiful Montana... I hate it that it's so cold for you to be planting! It's 75 here in South Alabama! Stay warm!
My wife and I have a small cattle calf operation, and we grow a little bit of corn, soy beans and wheat here in southeast Kansas. Your uncle named off seeds that I have never heard of thanks for your video it was educational.
Grandpa always has a smile on his face whether he knows he's on camera ...or not. I hope to be as happy as he is when I'm in my later years! I enjoy the videos! (though your pronunciation of Ag throws this old Texas boy a bit -hehe)
Way more sophisticated than my seeding. I take 20 lbs per acre of grass and other seeds for my pasture and use a broadcast spreader. Pretty much hit or miss but it works pretty good for pasture 🐐🦙🐔🐄 at about$60 per acre. Thanks for the great info!
Great video Kate, I now know more about lantos since I always see them at the grocery store in cans or bags ,your video was very educational, informative and interesting to watch and learn. Bye Kate from Texas 🤠👍
Congratulations young lady, in my opinion you have made the trip. You are up there with the big boys in the UA-cam farming and ranching community. Interview questions, content, rapport with the interviewees, Comfort level of everyone on camera, & with time lapse and music mesh. In some respects you have surpassed the big boys like Welker's, fastag, millennial, Laura Farms, New York farm girls, and Cole the corn star. Greatest percentage of your ads are Farm & Ranch related and you don't force your merch which can become a total bummer. Great job look forward to more great and informative videos! .!
Hey Kate ! When I was on the harvest crew ! The first year we ran 3 John Deere 95 and I drove a drove a 1973 chevy C 65 tandem axle ! Then the boss bought 4 John Deere 6600 we ran those for 4 years then he traded them in for 3 6620
Yes that feeling after long winter, when you finally starts another season and starting to sowing. We still have to wait here in Finland,we have litle snow in the ground, but begining in May it starts, hopefully 😃
Well Kate I have been looking ahead on your thumbs up and down. Girl I have not seen one thumbs down. Kate your farming videos on from Farm to fashion are still the best videos on You Tube. I was glad to see your videos back on my phone on you tube. Kate the 9630 4 wheel drive tractor is pretty powerful . You see Kate back in the 80s my boss bought a 8640 John Deeere tractor brand new. He would not let any else drive the 8640 but me. You see those tractors are pretty powerful tractors . Your dad is going to Luve the 8630 John Deere tractor. Well now Kate I am going to be keeping a close eye on your beautiful videos of farming videos. I hope I don't see any thumbs down about your videos. Cause Kate you are putting some awesome farm videos for us to enjoy watching. I know I Luve watching your videos. Tell you mother and your father that I Budd R Hicks in Baton Rouge Louisiana Says Hello to you and your family. In Montana. Glad to be back watching your beautiful videos. Hey Kate did you ever get the Drone to film you videos of your farm. From Budd R Hicks in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
I did some work on a dairy some 30+ odd years ago. Mostly milking and feeding, this equipment though is still way beyond anything we had ever dreamed of.
Hi Kate, The weather is weird every where this year. It's been in the high 80s and 90s here in Florida but 20 degrees colder the next three days. (Then warm again😁) It's been nice up home in Pa. Now snow today and tomorrow🤪 Where I'm from in Pa your either a Farmer or a Trucker, I did both but picked trucking for my career (since it ran in the family). Farmer's fields and mountains is all you see up Home, I'm even considering moving back but I kind of like the warm Winters better than the snow. Love all your Videos Katie, you have a remarkable family but your the prettiest.🌹👍🧡👌 "Nothing runs like a Deere" Loved my JD too.
LOL!! I guess you have crazy weather too! Thank you so much for your kindness. We love John Deere too and we agree "Nothing runs like a Deere". I would love to see the farms in Pennsylvania.
Very interesting video thanks for the great information about seeding and the very big equipment you have to use thanks Kate keep up the great work you do
Nice video Kate, you have some great John Deere equipment, I hope to see you driving that JD 9430 with a grain cart one day. 😃 We had 26°C ( 79°F ) today, the hottest March 31st ever in the Netherlands, later this week it drops down again to 12°C ( 53°F ), the weather is always unpredictable here. Thanks again, until the next video.
Starting a season putting the crop in the ground takes a lot of preparation. Equipment today has the ability to do so many processes that everything must be rechecked. Setting idle sense the end of last season may has resulted in some changes and new varieties of seed may result in a need for new settings. Great video on the process of getting ready for planting.
I've been watching your different videos and you are one heck of a videographer and editor. I know your dad runs the drone as well or you have the auto follow mode. Also I'm sure you get a ton of footage and you have to cut it down, which says even more about your editing. And I'm not just trying to over compliment you, but I have not found one un-ineresting video of yours. I literally want to watch from beginning to end. Your cuts are done at just the crucial moment when you've given enough information, then you bump to music, and or to a new visual farming aspect, then back to you. You dad adds his character (instructive) and pace to the montage of info. Your sweet energetic - enthusiastic vibe is contagious. I've watched some of the other farm gal videos and they do not have this consistent well done compelling aspect your videos have. But much respect to their effort. Your music cues are just a handful which is perfect. They are catchy - they compliment and or supplement - bridge the visual segments just right. They are in the background in function, exactly how they're supposed to be. Because the subject matter and environment involves a volume task and repetition the brisk pace and narration approach you use is so spot on. I can't say enough about your camera movement and framing, but professional/intuitive. I have no doubt that you have a future in this. I know farming is your family enterprise and you'll take it over in time, but I have no doubt tv and film are in your future Kate. --- Adriano
Great video Kate. I especially liked seeing the antelope. We have some in Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan but none in Manitoba where I am. Maybe you could contact John Deere and show them your great video and they will give you some free shirts, hats or a jacket ( swag ) for your efforts. LOL. Keep up the good work and the wild animals are interesting as a addition.
Morning Kate,,I think its time to put on those ruby shoes, click them together. for warmer weather. Yes our climate is changing. even here in Maine we can see how different winters are.. I think I'll buy a pair of ruby slippers call Dorothy to have whirl wind to bring us some warmth. Your Video is once again Amazing. you seem to hit on everything.. Soon the seeds will bloom into a field of beauty. Take care keep warm. Yes the hat looks great. but do not go hiking in the woods, lol have a great week,
LOL!! Thank you for your great and hilarious comment!!! I might need a pair of ruby shoes or boots!!! LOL I appreciate your kindness and great encouragement!!! I'm too afraid of grizzly bears to go hiking!! We have enough trouble when they wander down here. :)
Great video Kate. I was amazed at that seeder. 60 feet, Wow. Here in central Md.we are starting to see a lot of 30 ‘ drills. They are to big for a lot of our fields. If you cross the Bay and go over to Md. eastern shore it’s totally different. A 60’ seeder would be lost in some of those fields. Have a great week 🙂
Was expecting after ”we always have antilopes here” when tractor was pictured; ”and Deers”! Nice vid and cool to see your season started. Will follow your works through the year. Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
Ok, I have a couple of quick questions for you that can be answered now or later on in a future video. At what height do you run the sprayer boom at and how does it matter on the types of crops you grow? Do you ever disk the fields before you plant or do you do it in the fall? What is the depth you are shooting for the crops you are seeding this year? oh and looking forward to an update on the winter wheat and how it is doing so far. It's been fun watching and seeing the winter wheat so thanks for the videos Kate and you truly have a great week, see you next time.
Thank you for your great questions. We run the sprayer booms as low as we can to the ground. They float so they don't hit the hills and because of the high winds we have we try to spray on less windy days. We don't disk fields anymore because of what happened in the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s. All the soil blew away and we have to use conservation methods to prevent that. That is why we use the air seeder drills and then the wheels behind it pack the ground down so the dirt doesn't blow away. I will try to get some video of how the winter wheat is doing. We have really big fields and the lentils were a few miles away from the winter wheat. I appreciate your kind words and great encouragement!!!! Thank you again!
It's good to see you on the farm. Your uncle seems to be expertise in farming.I am far away from Montana, so not familiar with agricultural technic practice there. Love from 🇮🇳 India.
Hi Kate. Enjoyed your vid. You do a great job pulling information from the old guys. You’ll need that knowledge when you’re running the farm 😁 I’ll be subscribing so I can learn how it’s done in Montana compared to Illinois. Have a great season👍
Hi Kate thanks for another great video I have eaten lentils and they are very good hope you can show what the plants look like as they grow I have never seen a field of lentils before
Keep up the great videos Kid! I know nothing about growing anything at your level. I learn tons watching your videos and you edit them so well! I’d watch you before I turn on space ghost!😉
What a marvelous video , you are so good at this. Very nice explanations of setting up the seeders. Your music selection could not be better, maybe you could explain someday how you select the music . Thanks again from Florida 😀👍🏾🚜🇺🇸
Hello Kate at Kates Ag from Sydney, Australia. I was surprised at the cost for sowing seed per acre of land. Calculating the flow rate of seed though the drill seems difficult. I assume testing of spacing, fertility and growth rate for best protein after harvest? * I see you can grow different crops for nitrogen-fixing into the soil. * Are they sold via the same cooperative. * You said there was hail: this would be destructive to a crop in the field, no dought. The science of farming to reach the best yield, is more of a challenge than ever. Tell Grandpa " I like chocolate wheetens" with T. Always looking forward to Kates Ag. Thanks...... For rid'n along. 🥚🐣🐥🌾
Hello from Montana!! We try to calculate as much as we can. It is difficult because we are dry land farmers and we get little rain. We get our lentils from the same place. Hail can seriously damage crops or wipe them out entirely. I will let Grandpa know. Thank you for your kind words and great info.
I swear I'm not trying to monopolize your comment section Kate! I just happen to have a bit of experience with lentils in MT and I love talking about it with curious minds if I can. But to be honest, I was also surprised at your expenses for raising lentils per acre. We tend to spend quite a bit less on them and I'm not sure why. In terms of that other question we send a sample of our lentils to a lab to test germination rate. This year our farm's germination per seed is pretty high at 98%. Then we weigh the seeds by counting out 1000 seeds several times to get an average on mass/weight. I dont remember the number of plants per square foot we like to have for lentils, but using that number and the germination rate and the mass per bushel we determine the rate at which we want to seed that year. It varies year to year for us because we use our own seed from prior years to sow this years crop. Because this last year's crop had a high germination rate, we'll end up seeding less pounds per acre (about 92 to be exact) than last year (98) because the seed is more viable this year. Great questions all of them and good luck Kate and fam. I hope the lentils treat you as well as they've treated us over here in eastern Montana.
Your uncle has a good sense of humour and does a good job of commentating. Hope to see more of him.
Thank you for your kind comment. Yes, Uncle Chris has a great sense of humor. He is a lot of fun!!!

Glad to be back watching your beautiful videos. Hey Kate did you ever get the Drone to film you videos of your farm. From Budd R Hicks in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
Very interesting Kate, Great video. Keep up the great work, love the videos !!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kindness!!!
I did some work on a dairy some 30+ odd years ago. Mostly milking and feeding, this equipment though is still way beyond anything we had ever dreamed of.
Thank you for your great story!
Very interesting video thanks for the great information about seeding and the very big equipment you have to use thanks Kate keep up the great work you do
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I really appreciate them!
Nice video Kate, you have some great John Deere equipment, I hope to see you driving that JD 9430 with a grain cart one day. 😃
We had 26°C ( 79°F ) today, the hottest March 31st ever in the Netherlands, later this week it drops down again to 12°C ( 53°F ),
the weather is always unpredictable here.
Thanks again, until the next video.
Hello from Montana! Thank you. We love our John Deere equipment. I like to drive my combine so someone else can drive the grain cart! LOL
Seeding seems to be a little complicated process. Thank you Kate from r sharing this 😘😘😘
Thank you for your kindness! Seeding is a bit complicated!!
@@KatesAg Yes! I realized so. It's quite simple in Africa coz we don't usually use machines. Even where used, they are not this complex.
Yes that is so true! Thank you for your kind words.
Looks like good moisture there on the packer wheels! Good luck seeding! We are starting Monday near Whitewater MT.
Thank you for your kind wishes. That is great and best wishes seeding!
--- Adriano
Thank you for your amazing kindness and wonderful encouragement!!! You made my day!!!!!
@@KatesAg Of course, you're welcome, you're doing the great work. ; )

Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words and great suggestion. I love to look at the antelope too. Manitoba is very beautiful!
Thank you for your kind words and great story! Very interesting to learn about the different field sizes in other areas.
Nice vlog Kate! Very informative.
Thank you for your kind words!
Your uncle is a treasure

Hello from Montana!! Thank you so much for your kind words!!!!
Now I know why no drone great seeing everyone enjoyed
Hi Pat! Thank you so much for your great comment. Dad, Chris and Grandpa say hello! They wonder if you are coming back for harvest!!! LOL
Thank you again!
keep going and Thanks again Kate.
Thank you so much for your kind words and great encouragement!

It's good to see you on the farm. Your uncle seems to be expertise in farming.I am far away from Montana, so not familiar with agricultural technic practice there. Love from 🇮🇳 India.
