I bought a 99 Tercel slushbox as a second car for the wife. Had about 140,000 miles on the odometer. She drove that little guy for 6 years and I gave it to my niece, so she could attend university. She drove it for another 21/2 years and racked up many miles. She graduated and got a new car so sold the Tercel to another student. It is still running. They were the greatest basic transportation car ever built. You couldn't kill it and it started every time regardless of the weather! The body was pristine even with all our road salt here in the Toronto area. A fantastic vehicle!!!
I found one just like this for $900 but it's automatic. 190k miles. Super clean. 1 owner who says they kept it serviced at Toyota dealerships. Everything works. AC, heat, radio. I'm buying it this weekend. This will be my gas saver.
At the end of last summer i scored a '99 tercel for $900 off some kid going to work in the oil fields one province over. Had 245,050 kms on it, now it has about 252,300, and i'm gonna cling to it for as long as it runs. No reason to go buy a car now, the used ones are getting too pricey and gas prices aren't gonna come down. A 90's toyota is going to be worth it's weight in gold as the decade passes.
5 speed manual is the best version I owned two with four-speed I always bet if you had that fifth gear you can get killer gas mileage. I could get 47 MPG on Long stretches of Highway
my dad's still got his. When our "flash" cars break down we always have to borrow his "Corsa" , as it's know over here. it's the most reliable car we've ever owned.
I got a 95 STD super good car. Only paid 350, runs and handles like a champ, wasn’t built with power steering. Thankful for that kinda because that’s another thing that can easily disrupt the reliability.
90s-00s Japanese cars, specifically Toyotas, are exceptional vehicles. Never should have sold my ‘97 Corolla. Now I’m after another Corolla, Tercel, or even an Echo.
See more minds gotta think like this I bet if you had all those cars it would last a combined 30+ years those things run forever if maintained decently at Toyota I remember seeing only one time a 66,000 mile echo everyone on the lot wanted it😂👌
@@vsmiata2177 100%. But people get caught up in wanting to be “fancy”, their vehicle needs to reflect a certain status. I can’t blame them since late model vehicles certainly do offer some cool amenities, but it’s generally not my cup of tea. I have a one owner tercel sport 5 speed. I’ve owned many cars in my life & I’m sure I’ll own more. BUT… I will NEVER sell my Tercel. Best car I’ve ever owned & I’ve had some nice cars & new cars too
I have a 1997 tercel 15 turbo Diesel 4 doors saloon she is not in very good condition but i love it she is an amazing car after all this years she is steel a cool car
Yes. I have here in North san diego a 1995 1.5 5E-FE Manual Transmission, Manual steering, manual windows. 456.000 miles motor and transmission never opened. One clutch. Original Alternator and Starter and AC Compressor!!!! Built quality was not only superior to american junk but it was better then honda's single camshaft 1.5. Made in Japan is the main reason why that car lasted so long.
lucky yours has a/c! mine is missing that and it's a wonderful cold weather car but in the sun it's an oven. I'm moving out to the coast this summer just to avoid it 🤣

Был такой автомобиль, 97 года.

I know exactly what you mean when you talk about the simplicity, 90s Japanese cars are something special
I own a 2 door 5 speed '97 and I absolutely love the car.

This was my college car in 93. Still have it.
Jesus
Awesome
It's refreshing to see an engine bay where its not all cluttered up and things look really easy to fix.

That’s true but that’s a good price 👌
I had a 95 STD aswell, is yours a 4 speed too?
I have a Tercel with the Blackhawk trim and a 5 speed. I love it to death
These are good cars, my mom had a 1997 two door, it had the 3 speed auto so driving on the freeway yielded high revs.

Bro that’s hella cool diesel would be sick to drive in a Tercel 👌
Still got it?
Could anybody help me find where I might be able to source either some OEM or Aftermarket parts for the Tercel?
I wish they continued this model
Me too brotha
Hey man I’m looking for a manual transmission for my ‘96 wondering if you know anything
Yes. I have here in North san diego a 1995 1.5 5E-FE Manual Transmission, Manual steering, manual windows.

Toyota always manufacture evergreen and longlasting cars
How much ??? Where
I saw those models in my country.
Hell yeah👌 we barley see them over here now
@@vsmiata2177 It's beautiful.
Is this car belt or chain. Driven ?
Belt.Change it every 100.000 miles.
Use TBelt made in Japan only.
Can I buy it
I had one of these. Unfortunately, it got a rare engine problem that would’ve cost more than the car was worth to fix…
@Vs Miata let me know if you sell it! I’ll be interested!
The 95 to 99 sedan is getting rare.
5-speed the best I owned 2 manuel 4 speed got 45 mpg on highway now im possibly buying an automatic.
Is this for sale?
I wish brotha I would’ve bought it, since been sold tho
Keep n eye on your oil level n it will never die, ignore this and it will die💪👍
If you change the clutch, replace the oil gasket seal inside at the same time,,
It's getting harder to find parts now
Toyota should bring back the Tercel with a manual 5 speed or 6 speed transmission. People well buy
The name might come back, but toyota kept the car in the form of the Echo & the Yaris.
Se lo compro, como puedo comunicarme tengo interés por el tercel saludos y espero su respuesta. Gracias. Perú.
I have a 97 Blackhawk 3 speed Automatic … I love it more than my 18 Highlander … 🤫 don’t want it hear that tho 😂
Tell us one more time why you like this car. 😂👍😛
You want to sale
5-speed manuals the best version
I need something like this, who can get me one
Just got mine for $1440 with 113k
Good find brother hold on to it it’ll last you forever
I had a 1990 Tercel I bought new and it was the worst car I ever owned. It was such a horrible experience I never bought another Toyota
