@@ItsAllAboutTheJourney What it was, you could not get any trains down to Liverpool docks without running around them in either Tuebrook Sidings, if you came from the Manchester/ Warrington direction, or Running Around in The Wapping if you came via Wavertree junction, from The Crew direction. On top of that, we used to shunt a lot of Ballast/ Enginers trains that were either going to or coming from worksites around the country. I remember one particularly busy day when I ran round 23 trains in a 12 hr shift, it was horrendous. The olive mount curve had been taken out many years ago because The MOD were paying for it`s upkeep and we as Railwaymen were constantly complaining to have it reinstated so you would be able to go straight down to the Docks off the chat moss line without Running around but it all fell on deaf ears, until of course we lost all the Fiddlers Ferry Coal and all the Ballast trains. When the Freight dropped to virtually a fraction of what it was, the management then decided to put the curve back in!!! I hope that all makes sense my friend 👍👍
That’s a very interesting story - strange they only decide to put the curve in when freight traffic is so much lower now! Sorry for the late reply (UA-cam doesn’t notify me when people post replies to comments)
@@ItsAllAboutTheJourney No problem my friend on the late reply. That`s just typical Railway Management for you, talk about closing the Door after the Horse has bolted. It would have made life so much easier for everyone, not to mention cut down journey times by about 45 Mins per train. But they would not listen 🚂🚂
hello! nice video by the way! may i use some of this footage of TPE trains? i wish to use some in a video, about TPE and i need it for back ground footage. of course i will credit in the video, and tell people to sub and watch you its because i dont have any footage of them myself :( thank you!
I was based at Edge Hill for years and the amount of Freight that we dealt with on a daily basis was unbelievable.
I’m not surprised. Did the freight terminal there have even more trains than today going in and out?
