      IMHO, Samsung’s main issue with their folding phones nowadays is with their use of ultra thin glass. It’s still a technological marvel and the screens that use such do look better imho but they eventually crack along the seam due to stress.
      That being said, the day that Samsung does manage to get their screens nearly perfect is the day I’ll finally get a z flip. I’m testing the waters with a Motorola razr+ from last year that I got for cheap for now to see if the form factor is enough for me to fully switch.

    JerryRigEverything just did a video on this. The X2's durability is a lacking big time. A bit of dust rendered the phone useless! It wouldn't fold anymore, so that was it. The gloves were off! But it was mostly the hinge design that failed on his; the screen held up better than I expected after watching those videos, and Jerry is very harsh with the folds and screens! There is no dust or dirt protection on the X2; it was full of it when he stripped it down to bits! It's a must-see video on his channel now.

    • @betterlife7609
      @betterlife7609 Місяць тому +1

      If you watched, you'd understand it's not even the dust but the problem starts with the first folded screen. If the hinge on the screen side not the back mistakenly hit the ground is scratched by things like keys, problems starts with the whole screen. So, I'm not sure how any user is supposed to prevent these things that are bound to happen in everyday life. In other words, without the case, the phone is basically a bomb waiting to go off.

      I’d actually argue that, at least for the clamshell flip phone style models, the technology has matured enough. Most phones of that type like the Galaxy Z Flip have kinda settled on a specific design and simply improved things like water and dust resistance as well as increase the durability of the thin glass they use for the folding displays as well as the plastic protective covers they use over such.
      Something like that “triple” fold Huawei phone however, there’s a reason why the book type foldables still stick to folding in and out once.
