If I had a nickel for every time an intellectual character voiced by Tom Kenny in a cartoon was turned mad by a technological gadget and turned into a somewhat lovable gray haired villain who ultimately failed at everything he set out to do I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

You know I never noticed that similarity between Two brains and Ice king.
Both were good intellectual doctors, until one bad night made them crazy.
+They also had a little girl that trusted them before they went insane.
That and they were voiced by Tom Kenny
The difference is Two brains has the memories of Box Leitner, he's just too motivated by the mouse brain's hunger for cheese to stop committing crimes
Also that mouse is abusing him. It mean and cruel.
@@YowLife oh no, two brains does seem to have a fuddled memory too seeing as he couldn’t remember that he wrote the book that Wordgirl has and that he seems to have convinced himself that he turned himself into two brains on purpose rather than it being an accident.
They also had a little girl that trusted them before they went insane.

Two brains immediately identified the book "Superheroes and You: A Practical Guide" as his work. In addition, there was never a scene in the original wordgirl show where he claims to have transformed himself on purpose.

It's uncanny how two shows that aired around the same time covered this- Tom Kenny, a magic head thing that makes him crazy, and his honorary daughter-niece figure. So I love the animatic.

If you need some closure, I highly recommend the fanfic Saving Steven Boxleitner. Well written, explores the struggle with the mouse brain and the dynamic with Wordgirl, great balance of angst and wholesomeness. The author just updated and now the they’re working on the conclusion.
...This show, has all the elements to easily turn into a drama if they want...not only because of the situation of Two Brains, but also other characters...Victoria, Tobey, Miss Power, Maria, even Wordgirl herself...
This song fits Dr.Two Brains and WordGirl so much, and the fact that Two Brains and Ice King are both voiced by Tom Kenny is perfect 😭
The part of this that makes me the most sad is around 2:14 where the incident just happens and he's currently trying to fight the mouse brain enough to write the letter to Becky, knowing he doesn't have much time left as himself

DOCTER TWO BRAINS’ STORY IS DRIVING ME MAD
This reminds me of that one (very, very, VERY short) scene in ”Showdown at the Secret Spaceship Hideout“.
Yeah, that was the base for this idea. I saw that short scene and thought what if they sprinkled more angst into it
Their are so many connections and this animatic really showed what could have been but fortunately Adventure time did what World Girl couldn’t and showed the internal struggle of a man driven into insanity, grew white hair , and became villainous

I remember telling my brother how alike Two brains and Ice King were. But my older brother just choked it up to they have the same voice. But there's so much more. Ice King was a scientist who was friends with a little girl and always wanted to help and protect her. But the crown that he used to protect her made him go crazy. And he forgot who was and became a different person. Who did bad things cuz he couldn't control his actions no more. It's very similar to 2brains. Although he and Word Girl weren't nearly as close. Back when he was a scientist they were friends. And would always help he with crime threw his experiments. But then after one went wrong. He became crazy. And was now a different person, who couldn't control his bad actions. Which also reminds me of that Lizard monster from Spiderman. Who was Peter's friend then the experiment turned him into a villain. It's honestly quite sad.
Ngl Dr. Two Brains with fluffy mouse ears is amazing.

Dr, two brains and word girl have a very complicated relationship in the show. Like he is almost a father figure and friend to her. He even considers himself lucky to be a enemy of word girl

I need more Dr two brains and Word Girl animatics so badly. This was amazing.
I HC that Becky/word girl sometimes hangs around the lab with dr two brains. Also I’d imagine dr two brains possibly knows who word-girl is. It may just either be blurred or the more human part of him chooses to not tell anyone for the sake of Becky. I’d imagine she and dr two brains chat her and there sometimes she’s come to terms with who he is but misses who he used to be still but they still get along when on their “time off.” I’d imagine even though dr two brains was more or a mentor he still holds some father role as-well. Telling Becky if the cheese and the mouse and warning Toby to not try anything. He can speak modern slang better than Becky and only knows how because she almost gags when hearing it. Reviews science work with her because while he prefers to work on things that involve cheese dude can still get a job as a scientist.
Oh absolutely I see them as having a friendly relationship and DTB does play a father role here and there after all he did help her by calming her down when she was fretting over her speech she had to give to the town. The way I view it DTB doesn’t know wordgirl is Becky but when he was Steven boxleitner wordgirl probably never told him outright but wouldn’t try hiding facts about her life, so Steven was able to eventually put the pieces together on his own. After all, my man is smart. He didn't get a PhD for nothing. Once the accident happened slowly some of his memories began to blur here and there. He of course helps wordgirl with her homework and he probably gets excited because he finally gets to do something and explain concepts that he finds interesting that don’t have to relate with cheese( of course he loves cheese but feeling the need to only do stuff relating to cheese sometimes gets a bit dull). I also headcannon that he helps the other villains with their gadgets. Of course the villain he’s helping would give him the design they want for their gadget but he will be the one to review and make it for them ( also I like to think he’s the one supplying Toby with the materials to build his robots. Toby probably believes he’s being so sneaky stealing from DTB, but in reality DTB knows what Toby is doing but doesn’t try and stop it)
@@lycheeleeches I can actually imagine two brains actually “ accidentally” leaving some mental or pieces that are quite convenient for Toby. I also agree with two brains getting exited over helping wordgirl with her homework not only because it’s a break from him focusing on cheese like you Said but also since I’d imagine it’s the one time word girl is quite quiet. She may know definitions but she is a alien so I’d imagine science and biology of humans is quite interesting to her since I’d imagine huggy teaches her of lexicons species biology. I’d imagine all the villains actually keep a schedule at least when it’s testing time for her.
Its wild to me that the pbs kids are now making fandoms around our favorite shows i miss this show it was a classic.

It's kind of a wordplay, he literally "wrote the book" on superheroes, and wordgirl admits she learned most of her tactics by reading his book
Basically he was a scientist and I believe he helped heros before her get a handle on there powers and his evil lab rat merged there body's , now he's addicted to cheese and is pretty much a prisoner in his own body . I can imagine the situation would start to get to her when she gets a bit older . She doesn't know anyone who can undo it and she can't herself
Dr Two Brains is my favorite Wordgirl character. He's villainous, but can be sweet.

Me ruining the mood by bringing up how absolutely cute 2 Brains looks with his ears and mouse tail including how they move according to his mood. It’s a little detail but I also especially love how he drapes his tail around Wordgirl at the end when they’re embracing.

The real tragedy is I don’t even think Dr. Boxlietner is even in there any more. In the episode where Squeaky was given total control, Dr. Two-Brains was the one trading places with Squeaky.
While a lot of Dr. B exists in Dr. Two-Brains, he’s not who he was any more, and I don’t think he’s coming back.

Very nice animation. It seems they don't have this relationship in the show, which is unfortunate. Wordgirl isn't very sad when she sees her friend has transformed or afterwards. I don't know why it's very strange! Not only that, no one else notices Stephen's disappearance. I don't think the general public knows it's Stephen or they don't seem to care. Either way, at least you've shown this animatic where it does show she cares. It's a nice take.
