    It’s called not riding your brakes and learning to downshift. I learned that with about a week of driving my sti. Keep in mind I have about 20 mins in a stick prior to owning this car. It’s a fantastic car if you treat her right.

    It's not broken, that's just what track pads do. That and squeak. But they will work from 140 to 0 repeatably.

      Thats true but gotta make the tittle interesting lol ima upgrade them tho if i decide to track it but it will just be for fun and the experience lol not breaking any records

      not really; as I give a channel one shot as youtube has millions of creators. clickbait titles and/or thumbnails get a 'don't show this channel again'; if I can't tell it is clickbait and I go to it, I stop watching as soon as I find out it is clickbait, dislike, then block the channel. I find clickbait lies insulting and disrespectful to the viewers. If you just want a lot of views, go play with slime, cut things up, and other stuff the masses of mindless people watch and give ad revenue for or premium views.
      Honesty, integrity, good personality ... that is what gets a subscription. South Main Auto LLC is doing pretty good in the honesty front; people watch him do brake jobs over and over again on different vehicles just because they appreciate his integrity and personality.
      Do what is right for you, be a Linus Sebatian/Linus Tech Tips and clickbait the hell out of your titles and thumbnails if it makes you happy; just know some people will not give your channel a chance. I got 20 seconds in, read this comment, and am clicking away permanently. Sorry, but if I don't have respect for myself and what I view, then I end up watching too much crap and wasting too much of my time. You could be a wonderful channel, but because you felt you had to mislead with your title, I'm out.
      Take care.

    I hear a lot of complaints from other STI owners about the break dust, but listen up I’m running Torque Solutions 25mm spacers all around the four stock tires and rims, the break dust has tremendously disappeared. With the gap between the back of the rim and caliper the dust does not build as fast. HUGE DIFFERENCE FROM CLEANING TIRES ONCE A WEEK TO ONCE A MONTH!

      @@erickhuizar9532 none, the stock suspension of the STI is stiff enough to not rub. If you’re driving mainly streets you’ll be fine. Now going off road or jumping railroad tracks then they might ha!

      Spacers are for folks who care more about looks than performance. Spacers eat wheel bearings. Fact

      Spacers are beyond retarded. They’re illegal where I’m from for a reason. They also don’t ‘look good’ or make a car ‘look better’, they look freakin stupid and are unsafe.

    Why r u c/o brake dust? You can put whatever pads you want onto the car. I don't understand why some people complain about things that are so trivial or easy to customize/fix.

  • @knives01ng
    @knives01ng 2 роки тому

    It’s not a bug, it’s a feature!
    The reason for the brake dust is because it’s a metallic pad. Those pads are quieter, last longer than ceramic in normal driving conditions, and better in wet conditions. Sooo yeah. It’s an intentional decision on Subarus behalf. BMW uses the same kind of pad. If the brake dust bothers you, you can change it to ceramic pads.

  • @hughcarlos4548
    @hughcarlos4548 3 роки тому +2

    It’s the rotors the little holes cause the the pads to wear like that and cause the brake dust. Slotted rotors are the way to go if you want to reduce the brake dust…give it try

      Also with the slotted rotors go for the ceramic break pads by brembo.

    • @cdo450f
      @cdo450f 2 роки тому +1

      @@VelosterRally16_UV this guy is giving you incorrect info. Slotted rotors are designed to keep the pads from glazing by shaving layers of pad off from overheating. Inwhich cause more brake dust than normal. Crossed drilled rotors are for more air flow which increases cooling. The dust is coming from the soft performance pads.

    Had a brand new stock 16 Hikari STI. At 106k I started getting a misfire in cylinder 2 after taking it into the shop here’s what they found…
    ”Cylinder 2 has 34% leakdown past the piston rings. There is mild leakage past the exhaust valves that will need to be investigated at the machine shop to determine if there are further damage to the heads. We checked cylinder 4 next door for comparative data and there is only 6% leakdown on that cylinder which is healthy. There is active misfire on cylinder 2 from the compression loss as seen in the scanning equipment. At this point, the short block will need to be replaced and heads will need to be assessed when off”
    Decided to take it back to the dealership and after a long battle they honored the repairs under a good will warranty being that all my services were done at the dealership from day 1, car was stock and that I was only 6k over my 100k warranty.
    Fast forward to 134k and a year later… driving on the highway and I had a complete engine failure. Lost my power, steering and electronics. Had to coast it over to a safe spot. Once I was able to get it turned back on, I noticed the dreaded engine knock sound. Once again my car was still stock… took it into the dealership and turns out they recalled my engine so subaru covered the cost of reman long block. I would never buy another STI again. Who ever is thinking of an STI, buy a different car, while I loved mine, it’s not worth the troubles that everyone seems to face after 100,000 kms.

  • @jpu7456
    @jpu7456 3 роки тому +2

    I thought this video was a mechanical failure or something serious. Dusty wheels from performance [Brembo] brakes comes with the territory of owning an STI.

    • @zakuraayame5091
      @zakuraayame5091 3 роки тому +1

      dusty brakes are a common thing any way; maybe a bit less these days, but if you look at cars that don't get cleaned, there is always brake dust on the wheels and calipers; they are brakes, a friction material against a friction surface to expend your kinetic energy into heat to help you stop. The shit is going to shed some material over time, there is absolutely no way around it.

      I would definitely wait for the 22 R to come out and see what its all about if you really are considering between the two. The STI is an amazing and fun car but the last thing you want is to get it and once the R is out and you see it to start doubting your decision because then you wont even enjoy the STI anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️
