Very interesting that the monument was dedicated during the war. Glad it is still standing. You have a nice collection of Civil War relics!

Thanks Swamp! It’s hard here in Ohio to get a good collection of civil war relics but every now and then they pop up!

Great video Mike! You noted two Civil War battles (Shiloh and Cedar Mountain) on the plaque you were reading. In our family, PVT Henry Spaulding (1st Illinois Light Artillery) fought at the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. Also, PVT Oscar Spaulding (2nd Massachusetts Infantry) was mortally wounded at the Battle of Cedar Mountain in Virginia in 1862. Brothers Henry and Oscar were my 3rd (and your 5th) great-uncles! I've been to both of these battlefields to honor our ancestor's service. I'm so blessed to have discovered the stories of Henry and Oscar when researching and writing my book "Fortitude: Preserving 400 Years of an American Family's Faith, Patriotism, Grit and Determination". Keep up the great work to preserve history!
