- Here you have the real-life test of fuel consumption (fuel economy) in Mercedes-Benz E 300de (2019/2020, Plug-In Hybrid: 2.0 l R4 turbo diesel (143 kW, 400 Nm) + electric engine (90 kW), RWD, 9G-Tronic) in a city (also in heavy traffic) with almost empty batteries - in case you forgot to charge batteries before the city trip. Total system output: 225 kW (306 HP), 700 Nm, RWD, 9G-Tronic. Results: 5.5 l/100 km (42.8 mpg US / 51.4 mpg UK).

Diesel PHEV is a very good combination. Manufacturers should do more.
I really appreciate all the effort you go to to keep us educated . Thanks
Great video, found the answer I was looking for, cheers !
That’s about the same as my e300de estate nice video
Amazing video. Amazing car with amazing fuel economy. Imagine a fully charged battery. Use battery in the city where battery and electric motor is most efficient. And then diesel on highway. I'm sure this car can have a range of 1600kms even more. Unbelievable.
You don't need hybrid to have 1600 km range :) ua-cam.com/video/VPws0dP0QRk/v-deo.html
@@1001cars Agreed and I think the normal E220d can do the same. But the only way diesel can live on is to hybridise it. You get to then travel emission free in a city and use no fuel. And then you get the amazing diesel economy on the highway too. It's the best of both. Plus as a hybrid it is faster too. This has more power and torque than a normal 220d and you get stellar economy. I love it. Diesel is too good.
I think this is the best diesel hybrid in the world. Pure EV is not good enough because of long distance trips. I think diesel hybrids are best. You get the benefits of EV for the short trips and good economy for highway, thanks to the high torque low rpm Diesel engine. I hope they don’t discontinue this line.
I‘d like to see more fullhybrids like the ones from Toyota .
No charging needed and excellent consumption
Lol
It’s a PHEV

no its not
Can you do a highway or high speed drive with empty batteries?
I did it, and I linked movie about it in the description and in the end of the movie.
Is it capable to drive in hybrid mode like a Prius despite if the battery is empty?
Yes, this is what you could see on this video.
let me understand this. Even with empty batteries car charges it and uses it so average consumption would be quite low?
Plug-In Hybrid car with empty batteries does not consume electric energy
do you need to charge the battery or does the engine do this?
If you want to make it efficient as it should be, you should charge the battery similar to every other PHEV
So bad with fuel
