- Something terrible dwells deep inside the perimeters of Apex Cybernetics. It is the embodiment of man's arrogance. Behold, Mechagodzilla.
This is my favorite version of Mechagodzilla. Being Godzilla's infamous metal doppelganger, he has Godzilla's theme present, however, MechaG gets the luxury of having a choir thrown in. I also added some other synth tracks that are associated with Apex as a build-up for the choir section (it also gives the impression that MechaG is being powered up for battle).

I think they’ll try to retrieve Ghidorah’s brain so they can clone him and make the cyborg Mecha King Ghidorah. Not a definite, but it does present that opportunity for Apex to try combining organic beings and mechanical parts to make something even stronger

What I noticed about MechaGodzilla's roar is that, part of it sounded like Ghidorah's roar. I think that's why Godzilla was going after it, he sensed Ghidorah, thinking he was still alive.

@@Rokiriko there was a little bit of Ghidorah's roar at the end of the MechaGodzilla's roar. It gave off the same sound that Ghidorah's roar emitted.
@@Rokiriko The roar at the start of the video is before he goes rogue. After he gets supercharged and Ghidorah takes over, his roar has bits of Ghidorah's in it.
Shit like this is why I like the idea that this Godzilla cares about and protects humanity, even if he takes a much more pragmatic and disciplinary approach than his gentler Queen.
It makes this so much funnier, because it turns humanity into a stupid toddler sticking paperclips into outlets and chasing balls into streets.
He must think we're trying to revive Ghidorah.

Kevin was so angry that he lost his previous fight alongside his brothers and that it was cut up and roasted, that he hardly even noticed Kong was there. He just went straight and focused to kill Godzilla

The thing about Mechagodzilla is that it's powered with Kevin's consciousness and throughout the movie with that knowledge I can't help but feel that Kevin was just really enraged and sad, just only focusing on Godzilla not only because he was the balance of Earth but also because he was the killer of both his brothers
Assuming that San/Kevin was the part of Ghidorah controlling Mechagodzilla (Ghidorah did have a decentralised nervous system so it's possible that Kevin wasn't the bit of Ghidorah controlling it even if it was San's head), I liked to think San was indeed in pain when inside Mechagodzilla, but it had nothing to do with his brothers' deaths (considering Ghidorah's overall behaviour, it seems fair to assume that if the heads permanently lost each-other or if Ghidorah has any kin outside of its own heads, NONE of them will be shedding tears over Ghidorah's demise/s) - rather, I liked to think that when Apex were utilising San's neural tissue and experimenting on it, it either was constant torture for San which caused him to become more evil, or it essentially caused "alien brain damage" which erased San's childish personality traits.
Either way, if we consider the 'Godzilla vs. Kong' novelisation canon, it doesn't really matter now. I haven't read the novel myself, but word on Ghidorah's TVTropes character page is that the novelisation reveals a couple relevant things: (1) There were actually TWO Ghidorah skulls being used by Ren and Mechagodzilla (don't know where the second one came from, but it could've been a head that Ichi or Ni lost and regrew), (2) The novel apparently states Ghidorah's consciousness was actually amnesiac and didn't remember its previous life before it was reborn as Mechagodzilla.

@@ecthox-1mork909 In the movie godzilla KOTM the head of the ghidorah is only ripped off once (which is that of the kevin), the other 3 (including the one that kevin is reborn) are completely disintegrated at the end :), with that, there is only 1 skull of the king ghidorah in the world.

If it's true, about there being more than one Ghidorah skull in the 'Godzilla vs. Kong' novelisation, I don't know what the hell they were thinking if there isn't some kind of explanation for where the other skull/s came from.

Something I found while surfing through TV Tropes:
King Ghidorah was inspired by the mythological Yamata no Orochi. In the original myth, Orochi was defeated by getting drunk off of sake. Here, the Ghidorah-controlled Mechagodzilla was defeated after getting short-circuited by alcohol.
It's all come full circle.
He's also based on the greek Hydra that's why he has 3 heads.
His name Ghidorah is derived from Hydra in russian which is Gidra but spelled as Gidora in japanese :)

Given the whole "The Titans inspired mythology" aspect, you can't help but wonder how Ghidorah and Orochi coexist in the timeline. Perhaps they'll play up more of the snake aspects to contrast with Ghidorah's dragon traits.

@@yutyrannusfanboy5873 apparently the novelization says Apex found another head at some point. KotM isn't the first time Godzilla and Ghidorah fought in this universe so it wouldn't be a surprise if Godzilla tore another of the heads off at a much earlier point in the Monsterverse timeline.
Kevin, King Ghidorah's most docile head, managed to take control of Mechagodzilla solo, and then proceed to absolutely whoop Godzilla's ass, and then do the same to Kong at the same time. King Ghidorah had no arms and was made of flesh. It is just insane how intelligent King Ghidorah must be, and how dangerous he would have been in he had proper arms instead of wings, and the sheer amount of hatred and pain must be going through Kevin's mind as he bodied Godzilla.
Indeed! But all the fan designs of king ghidorah with arms never seem to look right just doesn’t fit his aesthetic pfft. Attacking with vicious bites backed with prehensile heads seem to make up for the lack of arms mostly though.
Not docile, more insane than anything. Michael Dougherty even stated it. Ichi is the smartest and controlling one, Ni is the angriest and most aggressive, and Kevin is the most insane and takes pleasure in the death of things (which comes off as adorable to most fans, but when you think about it, it’s sadistic rather than docile.)
We all made fun of Kev… called him an idiot. We called him dumb… he proved the whole world wrong. He showed us what it meant to be the lefty.

I really like how this version of Mechagodzilla is just a Godzilla exoskeleton, like it's still in beta. I genuinely think that if Apex had had more time to work and refine its design, it would be much more stylish like the other versions of MechG.

I think when ren serizowa (forgive me if I miss spelled) was in the “trance” when powering the mech, he had a conversation with Kevin. Kevin probably told him how badly he wanted revenge from being ripped off by Godzilla. So he let him take control, but that’s just a theory

This soundtrack wasn't quite on the level of Bear's but I respect it tried different things. Your versions enhance them so much. Never stop.
I agree. I myself did like the atmospheric synthy tracks it played in different parts, and especially Mecha G's themes.
The movie itself was nowhere near KOTM's level, but I do appreciate that it tried its own style, and I feel that if it had gone the full industrial/cyberpunk route, it might have fared better. The Hollow Earth segments were by far the weakest in the whole film and almost break the entire Monsterverse canon.

I watched junkieXL talk about what types of choirs he used for the soundtrack of “Army of the dead” and he said he used artificial choirs to represent how the zombies act somewhat human but still remain far from being human. Of course in Kiryu's case it was Goji, and in the Apex Titan's case it was Kevin (Ghidorah's head). Yes Kiryu was built around the bones of 54 Goji but it was still possessed by the spirit of 54 Goji itself after Millennium Goji roared at it.

I love how even dead, Ghidorah found a way to come back to get revenge...and his skull is still intact when this movie ends so he's still alive to some degree...we've not seen the end of the Golden Demise...

On an unrelated note: Most directors that direct movies with the same character/Franchise barely show interest in each other/Don’t care, and then there’s the monsterverse directors and composers who treat each other like a large family and like the monsterverse is their child.

I will be honest, I wasn’t too keen on Junxie XL’s soundtrack after watching the movie. Thinking it was the most forgettable score in the Monsterverse. But after listening to the pieces by themselves and just soaking it all in without a movie to watch, the soundtrack is MILES better than what I originally thought. With Mechagodzilla’s theme here now being one of my favorite pieces in the whole Monsterverse. Thank you for mixing and releasing this

I LOVE the way the music flows, and changes to a more uplifting tone. Like it's a struggle as kong tries to stop Mechas tail from stabbing him, and then suddenly he gets the upper hand as the music changes to a more uplifting tone.

Kevin has to be one of the most tragic characters in the monsterverse. Bro gets abused by his other 2 heads and now he finally has a chance to beat Godzilla, not because he wants to, but because for the first time in his life, it was only his voice instead of the others, which means that when he was beating Godzilla and Kong, he felt proud of escaping what seemed to be an eternal prison of pure suffering. Think of it as an insane asylum for a specific person. 2 people are watching you forever while you’re just suffering in that white box of doom. So imagine getting out of that box with all of your strength and getting revenge on those same people by doing a thing they couldn’t accomplish. Now that’s some serious dedication, but at the same time, it’s just sad to look at.
Mechagodzilla 5 was amazing in the movie! He was a vast improvement over Mechagodzilla 4 for not only looking like Godzilla but actually fighting him. He mopped the floor with Godzilla, tossing him around like he was nothing. What's interesting to me is that they used the Skull of King Ghidorah (Ie Kevin) as a cockpit before the spirit of Kevin possessed Mechagodzilla 5. So basically Kevin pulled a Kiryu. Hence forth Mechagodzilla 5 shall be known as Kiryu Kevin!
What was Mechagodzilla 4? Is it the one from City on the Edge of Battle?

@@parklez3250 not really. If your referring to Mechagodzilla from Terror of Mechagodzilla, there really isn't anything to differentiate from the others only having a number 2 on its shoulder. When I refer to the other Mechagodzillas they're all vastly different from each other.
Fun fact: In the novelization, it was shown that Allen Jonah sold two Ghidorah skulls to Walter Simmons because there was a theory that Kevin was a little too reckless and that costed him multiple decapitations which led to multiple Ghidorah heads being found all over the world. One head was used as a cockpit for Ren to pilot the machine and the other was located in the mech’s head to allow telepathic communication in order to control the mech’s actions.
Its scary to think Kevin is in Ren’s mind walking amongst the humans. Also, for anyone who knows about the two other ghidorah heads, those are also just Kevin. Michael Daugherty confirmed that Kevin tends to loose his head often in fights.
The Kong vs Godzilla novel explains that the new consciousness born when Mechagodzilla activated destroyed Ren's mind and "did not know who it was, or what it was"
Yeah. TVTropes also points out that the lack of a scene-transition marker when Ren dies and it shows Mechagodzilla's first thoughts seems to suggest that Ren's mind (or bits of it) were actually absorbed into Mechagodzilla and formed part of its consciousness. Which, if MechaG really has none of Ghidorah's memories of its past life, could explain why MechaG singles Godzilla out as its nemesis and doesn't care much for Kong, because the novel explains Ren specifically wanted to kill Godzilla because he blames Godzilla for everything that went wrong in Ren's life.

Fun fact: In Godzilla KOTM the reason why Kevin’s head regenerated so fast was because he’s head had been torn off so many times that Kevin and his brothers knew how to regenerate it as quickly as possible.

@@R0230R From what I understand, MechaGodzilla seems to be a fusion of Kevin's mind and Apex programming. Technically making a new entity altogether. If the Monsterverse continues we may see his remains become another MechaG, probably even Kiryu, which could result in a non-ghidorah influenced mind, maybe "possessed" by Dagon if they built Kiryu from his skeletal base. Kiryu was a MechaGodzilla possessed by the ghost/sentience of another Kaiju(primary Godzilla), one could say that this was Kiryu Godzilla faced. other than that my preferred idea would have been that MG's intelligence was the result of directive programming and the fusion of different minds(the Skullcrawlers, Ren Serizawa, etc etc) making it similar to Doomsday or Skynet when it came to its motivation to go rogue and rampage.
