I believe it was Howie Long who told this story, and I can't remember all the details or find any articles about it, but it goes that shortly after Bo arrived in LA, he was one of a handful of players who decided to have a skills competition. He beat the Raiders' QB's in the long throw, then punted it farther than the team punter to win that skill. I can't remember what it was but there was one more, it might have been longest FG, and he won that too. It may have been a foot race, I can't remember, but the point is that he won every category, beating all the starting players at their respective positions. The story might be just a myth and I may have gotten several things wrong due to lack of memory. But if it happens to be true, that's pretty amazing!

With all respect to Bo Earl was second fiddle to no one.
No one ran and dominated like he did.

@@powerboatguy2308 Sorry but Bo only played 2 sports at the highest level Pro Football and ML Baseball. Walker played Pro Football, Pro MMA fighter, Olympic Bobsledder 9th in the world, AND was a world class sprinter. Yes he ran faster than Bo. 10.23 100m to Bo's best 10.44.

Darrel Green, 6 times fastest man in the NFL, Retired from cornerback with the Redskins at 43,,,was still the fastest man on the team. At the age of 50, on his birthday, he ran a 4.3 40 yd dash. And fastest ever, unofficial recorded 40 in training camp of sub 4.1

Green won the competition 4 times not 6, and the 4.09 is a complete myth.

No disrespect to Darrel Green, but he didn't run over anybody, playing DB. Anybody who has ever played football understands how beat up you get playing RB. Way more physical than playing DB, thus why RB's careers are shorter. Bo Jackson:Greatest Athlete in my lifetime!

The best athlete that ever lived!
I remember watching him on TV when he played at Auburn.
It was like he was at a track meet.
He would get the ball, and head down field, and there he goes with everyone chasing him, and never catching him.
In the "30 for 30, You Don't Know Bo", on ESPN, the announcer guy for the K.C. Royals talked about his first news conference after he was brought up. The reporters asked him, "What are you going to do now?"
Bo said, "I'm going to go take batting practice." He took a couple of pitches, then proceeded to hit a ball on top of the crown at the top of the scoreboard in center field!
There has never been another athlete like him, before, or since.
He was incredible! He still is! A real nice Man!

Jim Thorpe, Herschel Walker, Wilt Chamberlin and Jim Brown were sure great Baseball players, and made the NFL Pro Bowl & MLB All Star Teams just like Bo did....Oh wait. No they didn't. Bo did.
He did this paying part time in both sports in the same year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I'm not saying the others weren't great athletes, they were superb. I'm just saying Bo was incredible.
      That's all.

      Bo- pro football 1x all-star, baseball 1x all-star
Jim Brown - pro football multi x all-star & HOF, Lacrosse HOF
Wilt Chamberlain - pro basketball multi x all-star & HOF, pro volleyball HOF.
Herschel Walker - pro football NFL 2x all-star USFL 3x all-star, Olympic Bobsledder 7th in the world, pro MMA fighter with a 5th degree Black belt in Taekwondo and was a world class sprinter (yes faster than Bo).
Jim Thorpe - 2x Olympic champion in the multi events decathlon 10 events and pentathlon 5 events. Placed 4th in the individual high jump and 7th in the long jump. If you are counting, that is 17 events in ONE Olympiad. Won the World Athletic All-Around competition, then went on to play pro football HOF, pro baseball AND pro basketball.
It is very easy to see who is the greater athlete.
      Thorpe by far.
