Congratulations on a beautiful buck. Additionally, thank you for the insight on using video mode on your trail camera in order to identify the pellets of a specific deer - that is smart. Thanks again for the great insights on how you found this buck.

Because of the size....you'd expect a deer of that kind of mass to be older there...
.....but he's also right, 5yr old isn't old, but it is the stepping stone to getting mature..

@@Night-le9ys5 1/2 is most definitely a mature deer

Beautiful deer, period, end of story. But have to disagree about your "especially for virginia" take. Virginia has become a bonafide A class deer state, I'm seeing DOZENS of deer harvested every year I'd never have believed when I was young. Watch the Virginia wallhanger board and others, there are many 170 class deer coming out of the state every single year. - but almost all of them are south east VA or DC beltway. What makes yours so special is that its a western mountain buck! I'm in West Augusta, I'll contend that there are many bruisers like that and bigger out there, possibly the biggest in the state, but with 1.7 million acres of national forest to dwell no man ever lays eyes on them. The least bit of pressure and its no skin off of their rear end to simply move a few miles away, far from any road or trail.

SW Virginia here, that's a monster buck bigger than I've ever seen killed in person. Not arguing that the POTENTIAL isn't there for bigger but Virginia doesn't have the age structure like you see coming out of those Midwest states.
