    Love listening to Skippy.
Seems to be an honest,non_ bragging, willing to teach (and learn) type of guy.
Doesn't seem to have a boastful bone in him.

I'm going on bowhunting year 39 and it took me about 35 years and cell cams to finally figure out just hunting every morning and every evening from Oct 1 thru the 1st gun season did more harm than good. Always though I needed to hunt the far corner which meant walking through everything. When I started hunting almost 100% according to weather and access I went from a bit of luck once in a while to killing 5 deer and 780" of antler in the last 4 years. Not to mention the 140s to 170s my buddy has killed out of my stands.
Access and timing is everything! Combine that with discovering the Land and Legacy podcast and having my own farm to manipulate I went from hoping to see bucks to expecting to see mature bucks. Boy my kids are going to be spoiled.

i stopped using e-maps to scout for deer. same reason you stated, about everyone going to the same map spots from google earth, huntstand, or on x. nothing compares to scouting with boots on the ground

From southern Ohio myself going to be interesting to see how this drought is going to affect the deer hunting already picking crops. I know water will be key point. would love to see a video possibly on strategies when deer are affected by extreme weather or drought I’ve never hunted a drought like this in my life definitely will be challenging.

YES! All the acorns here in Maryland aborted because of drought. Feed trees aren’t a thing now. So now what?

I like to dig small ponds below grade and if I have to add water I use rain water I collect off my roof that is on a trailer. Helps if you add grape kool-aid lol

I live in far western Iowa. EHD has hit there 4 yrs in a row. It has devastated the deer herd and this yr is the 5th yr if it's bad again.

So sad. Countless friends there in same boat. U guys need major relief. The good news is, the dnr has heard you loud & clear. Hunters are far more aware of how bad it got. Best wishes on dodging it this year & I hope the deer bounce back quickly. Hunters & DNR are for sure supporting whatever is needed for relief.

@@Iowa_Whitetail yes it will take many yrs to recover IF EHD is not bad for yrs. I moved there 7 ys ago to bunt strictly big deer. Were plenty of deer then, but horrible now.

Been there!!! We got devastated in S iowa in 2012. & had a couple more/smaller outbreaks after. U guys missed those when we got hit. U will built resistance like we did. It takes time. Thankfully the dnr is on board to reduce quotas & thus hopefully build back faster. Sorry dude!!! Moved here 25 years ago for same reason - been in your shoes. It’ll come back.

I have 280 acres 2 locations and have 10 stands on each one. That way I deploy cams and see what stand is seeing more movement. Then I hunt it

"Supplemental feed is unnatural" so is wiping out 100s or 1000s of acres for a subdivision or shopping mall that was all natural habitat and wait for it ....feed! So are wolves being introduced into habitat that hadn't had wolves for 75+ years.

I think they would not be a difference between putting minerals in water. They put minerals in bait or food pellets.Same difference just a different way to get there

E scouting was not my scouting because none of it stays up to date with all the land clearing and natural food sources seem to have more mature bucks

  • @mikehall6202

I thought they should put vaccinations for the deer to take care of that problem and with feed and give to the hunters. And they would actually distribute it for them.

Join the crowd. The best warranty in the business isn't worth squat when they don't respond to texts, emails, and phone messages from 2 weeks tactacam reveal cameras are the way to go. Could have bought 4 of them for the price of a exodus render. Better quality too.

Have money and buy large private land

    • @Iowa_Whitetail

YEP!!!! 👍. Tell u how to do it…. Even when you’re broke & your parent has zero $ & on food Stamps…. Start a lawn business when you’re 10. Build that until you can work on farms at 14. When you’re 16 u can work in factories & delivery pizzas. Put yourself through college while still saving for land. Then… work almost full time in college & graduate early with good grades. Get a decent paying job. Cut every cost to save every nickel. Have enough $ down for a small chunk of land. Work nights & weekends on that farm. Sell it & buy bigger. Work really hard so you get a raise at work. Stay on this for 30 years & u can own a big private piece of land & have funds to pay for it. It’s a wild concept but doable & repeatable. America is great & land of opportunity for those that will work for it! 👊💪🥳🇺🇸🇺🇸

Data out east & Texas…. the times it was studied ….. data is “very good”. Large reductions & that’s good news with how bad Lymes & RMSF have gotten.
