I think it was nicely combed out. But that isn't unusual. Sometime you might want to wash it with baby shampoo, and comb it out. Died colors usually get degreased, but white may be a little greasy. Some shops sell two sizes. I'm in Canada, but in the US, you can get one from Hareline Dubbin get the large. I got mine from Mad River Outfitters, but it is a nationally distributed product. The other thing, is that the one that looks best in the vise could end up being a little too large to cast depending on: Your rod and skills, the fish's needs, and things like the wind.
You just captured another Popovich. Nice job! I'm in California. I can see this used for Striper, Steelhead, Big Trout and even Bass. Absolutely great! I'm in NoCal and have access to BuckTail through the season. Thanks.
Thanks for this great tutorial! Steve great presentation, it's the second time I've seen Bob tie this and the instructions and design concepts are excellent. When I saw this in the water I'm reminded of a pheasant flushing and the tail feathers swirling from the turbulence of the wings! Thanks guys! 👍
Nice to see a magnum streamer that isn't like dumping a pop bottle bottle worth of plastic into the wild rivers every time one gets one snagged. Going to have to make one.
great video, and a fantastic fly =) I live in Norway and I am gonna try to catch a Hallibut on a fly rod. I think a version of your fly "the Beast" will do great. Do you think a 1,8 mm plastic tube will do the same job as the mono you are using ?
Realize this is an older video, but what would you guys use for thread? I've been using GSP, either 100 or 150. Also, I've tied a few of these with the 1st 3 tied normally, not reverse. Am there a difference in movement or durability? And 3rd ? I've managed to tie 2 of these beast flies that walk-the-dog on their own. Love that action! But I have not been able to replicate it and have no idea what I did differently ! Any ideas would be appreciated!
Bob…. Where the HELL can I find bucktail like that!!?!?! Thank you for your creation. 🤘🏻

Nice to see a magnum streamer that isn't like dumping a pop bottle bottle worth of plastic into the wild rivers every time one gets one snagged. Going to have to make one.
Just wandering.... could you use á small/light plastic tube ( as in tubeflies) for the extension??

How. Long of line and how many tlys of buck ta
What's the name of your books
Great video Bob and Steve! Jeff from Pgh here Bob, I was curious as to what weight mono are you using? I’m looking to create some musky Beasts!
Jeff Armstrong looks to be 80 to 100 lb mono
60 lb hard mono. It's at the beggining of the video.
Gnarly pattern.
With a fly that long and the hook being placed up the front of the fly what are the hook up like on a fly this long
For stripe bass it should be pretty good, they go for the head first.
What pound mono is it and what thread is he using as well as bobbin and bobbin size thank you.
What size mono are you tying the buck tail on ?
