This is a great encouragement to test out how spending more $$ impacts the future.

Steve Jobs died from Pancreatic Cancer. When he died he was worth billions. What do you think one more year, one more month, one more day was worth to him? Time is absolutely EVERYTHING !!!

Ari ,as I am watching you from a beach on Aruba, i thought I would comment. I agree with you about 75 percent it is not a contest where you win if you have the largest portfolio at the end. And I fully agree it would be foolish to spend so much you risk of out living your portfolio. But I some what disagree that some one just needs to spend lavishly. If you remember me,I have a portfolio that will allow me to take even more vacations and fly first class on them too. But. I don’t for several reasons. Among them being the move vacations you take probably makes you value each one less. For me I think my limit is around 5 a year. And first class flying is so extravagant I would not enjoy it. I would rather donate a larger size portfolio than doing that. What I think would be be an interesting video would be to have you interview recent or near retirees on how they balance spending vs portfolio size. Now I must go back to enjoying that Arabian sun and breeze. To the next one.

Do your academy tools have an option to include not just IRA, ROTH, investment funds, etc., but does it include the option for a pension consideration as well? Or multiple pensions? What about tax-free VA compensation?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

      Everything. It’s fully custom.

This is the info I’ve been looking for. I haven’t found any financial planners that cover it. Fact is with VA Compensation, SS, FERS Pension and free VA Healthcare we won’t need as much as most people do in our TSP (401k). My plan now is to focus heavily on my brokerage account so I can retire early.

@OR_TR_Hunter We are in the same boat. The academy software allows for VA disability, annual Tricare premiums, retired pay (is income taxed only). We just have to figure out how model the SBP for my spouse.

Where can I download this academy tool? Is it free?

      No.

Does the software allow for you to save multiple scenarios? When you demo it, it seems like you have 1 baseline (current) and 1 that's live adjustable (proposed). I am considering getting the academy but I have a lot of things I am considering and I'd like to be able to compare more than 2 at a time to better understand the impact

Awesome video. I'm naturally hard-wired to be a saver and optimize finances, however my lifelong dream is to hike Yosemite, walk the entire 2560 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, and take lots of backpacking trips with our dog and young adult kids (when they have the free time) when I plan to retire three years from now at age 60 y/o. I have a pension plus lifetime health benefits with the University of California plus a 401k that I've contributed to for a lifetime so the numbers certainly work, but I'm constantly thinking "...just one more year...". One major stumbling block is my wife and I do not share the same financial or retirement goals.
