There has been much misunderstanding about the authorship of this incredible movie theme. The great late JOHN BARRY was widely given credit as the official arranger hired by the studio . His brass parts are iconic to any listener. Appartently he was sued by another musician who claimed his composition was plagarized by BARRY and inspired the THEME. I believe he was awarded damages.
