Thank you so much for the video. I was trying to use my Harbor Freight rivet nut setter and couldn't figure out how to remove the mandrel that was installed by the manufacturer from the tool. The instructions just said to remove the mandrel, like it's obvious. Watching you made it easy. The tool works great and I used it to install a heater into my VW Vanagon.

Very clear video. I couldn't get mine to work. I wasn't sliding the inner spring collar down while screwing the specific size thread in. Very helpful. Thanks

Hey, I have the same rivnut setter. Love that thang. Mine's quite a bit scuffed and chewed up, having been tossed off the roof of my Geo Tracker after about a mile of it hanging there. (Always do a tool check before you take off!). It also got kicked around a lot by passing cars afterward, and still works! I had to slightly fix the threads on the loaded M8 mandrel though. Great tool.

That's a good story. Glad it held up to some real abuse!

Why would they not include the size holes you need to drill? That's just incompetent documentation. I think I might spend extra for the Astro Pneumatic tool that actually includes those specs and better instructions, and is also larger. Thanks for the video and your honest review.

You are right about it lacking a hole chart for each size. That is disappointing. I measure the largest diameter and add about .005 to .010 and get the closest drill bit. The ideal clearance also depends on the material you are putting these into as well. You need to use judgement. I also want to get other nuts for added thread sizes and I am not so sure if mandrels from other tools will fit it. A good tool just lacking some instructions and expanding to other size nuts is questionable at this time.

100% agree. I was also wondering about other mandrels, but haven’t tried it yet.
