    Love that you did a video on PCOS! I have pcos and am a big fan of your content. I’d love to see more studies done on pcos. There are so many restrictive diets recommended in the name of PCOS. It’s damaging and confusing. As you talked about glycemic control with PCOS, I have made amazing improvement in my PCOS with this in mind. I don’t follow a specific diet but rather found out accidentally through calorie counting that my fiber to total carb ratio made a big difference in my condition. Rather than avoid high glycemic foods, I’ve found that getting at least 1 g fiber to 10 g total carbs ratio helps me ovulate. I was ovulating 1-3x per year for over a decade and with the switch to focusing on improving my fiber to total carb ratio, I now ovulate every 1-2 months, on average every 40ish days. I lost about 20 lbs doing intermittent fasting for a year and had one natural period while doing IF. I switched to calorie counting after IF, almost a year ago, and have lost 25 more lbs. About a month after I switched to calorie counting, I ovulated naturally ending a 140+ day cycle. My next cycle was less than 40 days! I’ve ovulated 8x since switching to calorie counting and eating more fiber in the last year. Weight loss is definitely helpful for pcos but diet does help us as well. I’m happy to have found that I don’t need to cut out any foods or eat low carb to improve my pcos. I just have to try to be in a healthy weight range or close and eat enough fiber. Now Im going to focus on getting into an exercise routine to hopefully help my condition even more.

      @@noorachoudhury4592 I was calorie counting so I had the data to look at. There is research on fiber and health and even on carb to fiber ratio for health you can read about. How I figured it out though was by the grace of god. It was something I prayed a lot for and I feel like it was an answered prayer. I struggled with infertility for 5 years because of my pcos. At the time I had originally posted my comment, I was going through infertility. I was finally able to get pregnant after doing a combo of high fiber diet, metformin, letrozole, baby aspirin and a lot of prayers. I owe it to Jesus. I had never been pregnant before and my baby was a miracle in so many ways. He shouldn’t have been here. Not only did I deal with infertility, I had a very high risk pregnancy. I had gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, IUGR and early onset preeclampsia. My little guy was born 6 weeks premature and only 3lbs2oz. He was growth restricted because of my pregnancy induced blood pressure issues and was very high risk for being stillborn. God worked great works through my doctors and he came home after 21 days in the NICU and only 4lbs. He’s almost 10lbs now and doing well and such a gift. I love him so much. I believe that one day you’ll get some relief from your pcos symptoms too whether it’s now or in the future. Wishing you well.

    I would like to cut about 3-5 bf% and already know that I will lose strength. My question now is, does strength loss also mean muscle loss? I would still consume my 1g protein per lb and will still train the same way with the same intensity etc. (6 days a week). So, will I be able to keep my muscle in a 350-500 calorie deficit or will I lose my strength along with the muscle?
    Would very helpful if you could make a video about that topic ^^

    • @aliceshtewi6280
      @aliceshtewi6280 2 роки тому

      If you’re already pretty lean you’re very likely to lose muscle in the process, especially if you create an aggressive calorie deficit. However, no, losing strength doesn’t necessarily equal losing muscle, it could be just the result of losing fat and as you weigh less you can lift less. But that especially applies when you have a good amount of fat to lose.

    P C O S is hard enough, and having people just spreading info without doing the basic of research like how to pronounce the name correctly. I refuse to listen!

      It’s actually pronounced the way he said it.

    The fact that he couldn’t say PCOS correctly had me not believing anything out of this man’s mouth.

    What about endometriosis?

      Did a presentation on it at Uni. Best diets for endo are any that are high in essential fatty acids, low in saturated fat and added sugars, rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that you can stick to. Stage IV endo may not be corrected with diet unfortunately, might have to rely on drugs such as metformin if diabetic or clomiphene citrate with PCOS.

      The same story as for PCOS, there is no specific diet for endometriosis. Nutrition does not cure anything, it can help prevent diseases, but it doesn't cure! For example if your diet lacks of fibers, it's obvious that if you increase the input by eating more fruit, veggies and whole grains your intestines you will be less likely to have constipation problems, your stool will be softer and therefore you will have less bowel irritations and the endometriosis will cause less pain. But you didn't cure it.

    P COS is not how you pronounce PCOS. If you don't know how to pronounce it call it by it's original name Stein-Leventhal syndrome. Hearing you call it some strange name is really horrible to people who have it, even more horrible hearing it from a man who doesn't.

    Will eating my normal maintenance TDEE, then exercising 500 calories a day creating a CICO deficit also cause metabolic adaptation/adaptive thermogenesis, or does that only occur when you restrict calorie input? Does anyone know the answer?

    • @laubachm11
      @laubachm11 2 роки тому

      Adaptations will happen that’s why diet will have to be adjusted as you lose weight. This is normal. Doesnt matter if deficit is from increased activity or purely from calories to create the deficit.
