- Once again we pay a visit to our neighborhood orchid fest. Thanks to the boys at OFE Orchids and Supplies they bring us this monthly orchid fest during peak season. Peak season is December through May. Once the crazy heat sets in Florida, we have to then wait till November for then next big show at KrullSmith. That’s kick-starts the season till May again. This show is definitely one of their smallest ones, but the few that were there made it worth the visit. The orchid tree is so cool!
I love them. You don’t see them as much as when I was a kid. They were everywhere in Miami.
Pitcher plants put in a drain tray and keep water in the tray and when you fertilize it you can put one bead of fertilizer in the pitcher. That's what I've done with mine and pitchers all over it. Just don't overdue the beads. I have 2 that I've had for years. ❤

I am truly amazed at the beautiful selections. Seeing all those vandas, piled on top of one another makes me and to "rescue" them all! I am positive that if I lived down there I would spend all my time and retirement money buying plants. Keep up the great videos. We're living through your eyes seeing all these beautiful plants. Hi Nelson I have 2 orchids tree in front of my house one is lavender and the other one is white, you can keep it trim, and they propagates by seed, they grow very fast, they are beautiful when they are in bloom.
You are so lucky. I love them. They do sell them here in my area. They also have the dwarf one that only grows as a bush. I don’t really care for that one.

Hi Nel I went Sunday, it was a very small show but I still bought two plants. The day before I had gone to the Coral Springs show, and that one was full of vendors. I think the fact that they overlapped might be part of the reason why this one was not as full as it usually is. Nevertheless I attended and supported them both. :)
Absolutely. There are 2 to 3 shows every weekend so it will dilute the market here and there. I did get the Cattleya I just repotted in the video at OFE from Vicky’s Orchids. She always has amazing stuff at the best prices hands down.

Do you mean the Holy Ghost flower of Panama? I’ve yet to repot mine. I may repot soon. I’ll ask my friends at Sierra Madre what they use in theirs. I’ve never repotted any so I’m gonna do my research.

Do spider mites hurt the orchids?
Yes. Sevin mitecide and insecticide spray works well. Always wash and clean you orchid well before spraying. I use water with dish soap. Just a few drops in water and clarean all the leaves. Rinse well and then spray with Sevin. Repeat the spraying only every 3 days for 2 weeks.
