Being a devils fan from Ireland, i love this appointment, Sheldons brother, Adam Keefe manages my local team, he transformed hockey in Ireland and has brought huge success and stability to the club (Belfast Giants). Before Keefe came i had no clue there was an ice hockey team, now every game nearly sells out. I hope Sheldon succeeds and I am sure he will
@PhilipKelly That is awesome! I believe in Sheldon, I think he gets this team back to a perennial playoff contender.
Keefe is going to be great for you guys. If you get 2-3 more pieces this offseason, you’ll be back in the playoffs.

@millertime110 Close enough. I would love to see 5-6 pieces, but can settle for 4. A goalie, 2 defensemen and a forward OR a goalie, a defenseman and 2 forwards could tremendously help the team if they are the right players.
@@millertime1101 that’s a quarter of the devils roster lol. You don’t need much, you just need to have your current roster to play up to another level.
@ITS_ABOUT_HOCKEY A goalie, and one forward, one defenseman is already 3 guys. In an ideal world they would upgrade 2 of their D and 2 forwards. I can't see it happening. I will settle for a goalie, d-man and forward if they are all exquisite pickups. ie: Saros, Zadorov, Bertuzzi. I would even take Brossoit in net at this point....
Exactly like you said about gut feeling. No stats are so accurate as gut feeling at the moments where making decisions matters

I'm excited for Keefe even before the roster improvements have happened.

My spidey senses tingled a bit when he said that playoffs don't matter. After 2022-2023, for the near future, a big benchmark on how we judge a season will be starting with whether we made the playoffs. But you know what, he also talks about staying hungry and winning the cup a lot too. I'm going to be positive and say he means that whether it's a regular season or playoff game, we give it our all no matter what. Love to hear it. Keep the kids hungry and held accountable.
@stikfigzz I was a bit stunned when he said it. I just want a deeeep playoff run next year. ECF or bust!
This gives me the same optimism for the team as there was in the summer of 23, but we know what happened during the season

Analytics is one thing. To me it's like saying something is good "on paper" but there is a second part of it you can never calculate, The human part.

@kfree1966 Seems like it could be a crutch/excuse for sure. Sometimes guys need to follow their gut and instincts....what were the analytics on Dano vs. Tverdovsky before Burns put Kenny in for Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals?!?!?
I like Keefe. I wanna see what he REALLY can do now, without the Toronto Pressure, and the setup he had there. I believe in the step by step process, and before we even talk about being contenders, I want to consistency in reaching the playoffs first. It would be a big step forward if he can reach the playoffs for lets say the next 5-8 years without interruptions.
@wunzigan I do think this will be a much better situation for him. The media here is NOWHERE near the level of Toronto. Consistently making the playoffs would be nice. A deep run resulting in a Cup would be better! I do think he will be here for 6+ years when it is all said and done...
I’m hopeful for the direction, we need some grit and goaltending now!
@wisediscernment2403 I think the goalie will happen for sure...I am not so positive on the grit. I hope Fitz sees the need and makes the proper acquisitions
Keefe was great at the conference and Fitz was kinda shaky as usual haha immediately thought of what you were going to say when he brought up "The Gauntlet" and really just looked on edge overall.
@amagilegacy3335 He is the gift that keeps on giving! I hope he gives us some players to be excited about on July 1. (and possibly before then with a trade)

From some of the comments I’ve seen from Toronto fans when it comes to analytics, they did say he does do a good job as a coach walking that fine line between the human element and the analytics. 18 consecutive playoff appearances across multiple levels and helping develop superstars in Toronto has made me pretty excited to have Keefe. I think Fitz continues to be the one in the organization who worries me most. Ownership giving the facilities and resource for the team to be competitive, Keefe being pretty well spoken and having a good track record, and then Fitz who doesn’t seem to be able to make a judgment call unleee it’s 100% backed by analytics or he just sits on it is not ideal for a GM who needs to make decisions everyday.
@reyrage15 I hope that is the case. Human element matters. The making playoffs every single year is very impressive. Fitz is definitely the most worrisome for sure. He looks dazed and confused all the time. Hopefully he makes some big moves this Summer to help the roster...
Now Fitzy just needs to sign Zadorov and a solid net-minder (Ullmark or Saros would be my top choices).

@@runninwiththedevils I have been going to panthers games since I was born in 2004 and I’ve suffered lots of sports trauma from their poverty years from 2004-2020. I automatically assume the worst due to their past

Am I the only one that hopes we don’t give the #10 pick to CGY for Markstrom?
I’d rather keep the pick than invest in such an old and suspect goaltender.
Now, if it’s a BT deal or Saros, Ullmark, I can see more balance.
At 10, there are some real studs.
If we ended up keeping it, I wonder who we would snag?
@anson.meadows If we give the #10 pick for Markstrom, Fitz should be fired. That would be an atrocious move. If we end up drafting with the pick (which I think would be a BIG mistake) I hope Iginla is there somehow. I can't see Calgary passing on him at #9 though. I think there would be riots in Calgary.
Analytics work for the regular season, but they don't measure grit, desire and hockey aggression. You need all 3 in the play-offs.
@steverobinson8771 Hopefully the Analytics team is charting the amount of hits per game this playoffs. Off the charts

@@runninwiththedevils Hey Ace, Harlem Globetrotter first half regular season type hockey is one thing playoff hockey as you well know is a completely different animal. #40 looked like a deer in the headlights out there. Now he's leaning on excuses, he started waxing poetic about concentration Issues with his contract negotiations, now it's I've been playing injured. Frank Seravalli nailed it yesterday with his take on the Pettersson debacle, Its on the 'Daily Faceoff ' YT channel, "Canucks locker cleanup" its at the front end of the Interview.
Personally I'm not convinced #40 is Rick Tocchet "coachable".

Keefe has a bad play-off record because he was coaching a bunch of play-off chokers. I don't rate any of the Toronto players that highly, other than Matthews. Fitz needs to give Keefe a goalie, some heavier D, and just more hockey grit in general. I'm cautiously hopeful 😎
Spot on, the Toronto players can play dreadful and some are lazy especially when we last played them
@steverobinson8771 Toronto's core was very good, they just couldn't win in the playoffs. I do think Fitz will get a goalie, however I am not sure if will be the "big name" most people are hoping for. Grit is available in Free Agency, let's spend that $$$
