Excellent review! It would be good to see a video comparing APBA Football and Plaay's Second Season Football.

This video, compared to your first is amazing! You were unhinged and I thought you would never play this game! Good on you for sticking with it. APBA football is the first game I ever played as a five year old. I haven’t played APBA football for 40 years, I may give it a shake!

Well Done Dave. Great Job. Your enthusiasm is so great to see on your broadcast. I like APBA since back in 1975. Thanks for the advice on the small new innovation charts you are using..

APBA Hockey is the best game from APBA, because I said so and hockey is the best sport as well! 😛 That said, I really enjoy Second Season Football and will likely stick with it over APBA Football, but the big bummer with Second Season Football is the lack of seasons. I'm also not fond of the going to potentially multiple charts to decide a play. One thing is for sure though, you're going to spend more than your fair share playing these games out so they should be worth the price of admission to anyone who dives into them.

Years ago, I had APBA Football. I bought it in 2000 at, of all places, a Gabriel Brothers discount store. It was a special edition that contained all the 1999 teams (31 at that time) as colored cards with the NFL team logos on them. Those cards looked great. I played a few games with it, but then lost interest and eventually got rid of it. Perhaps I was not ready for a longer playing game at that point in my life. Anyway, watching this video and a few others are starting to make me regret that decision. Well done, Dave.

Thanks Dave. An excellent and thorough review of the game. I like how you went about the pros and cons of the game, by specifically pointing out that most of the pros and cons are dependent upon what each buyer is looking for in a game. You hit the nail on the head when you spoke about the ABPA way being numbers on the cards and charts for every result, for all their games. If you want the results on the cards, then this probably isn't the game for you. APBA cards are unique, attractive, well made, and for the RB's and QB's, there is unrivaled detail. I wish APBA would use that kind of detail for the receivers as well in certain situations, kind of like Strat does, and I wish there were occasional matchups, ala 4th Street football. It would make the offensive linemen and defensive player cards much more valuable, IMO. Though perhaps there are mods that are already doing this. If so, I would love to check them out.

Well done Dave. For those who asked, Chris White’s VSU cards are stealing Intellectual Property from APBA, basically, piracy for tabletop games.

Seasons are too expensive, unused cards, archaic OA, TB, etc. Nomenclature,, too many needed innovations, out of the box no receiver locators or usage limits, no stats on the cards. Zero YPC influence. Idjester knows.

How do you incorporate the draw play and the screen pass? Do you use the master charts all the time with the basic rules or have you just incorporated the charts for the DP and SP from the master book and use the basic book for everything else?

I use the master charts. Just not many master rules

I like that you call them "charts"... it's weird that in APBA Baseball the charts are called "boards"...
