I've watched this video several times when I replaced pads on my 2004 MPV. Years ago, we relied on neighbors or friends for technical help - now UA-cam is my go-to source. I've replayed sections of videos until it made sense. Thanks for tanking the time to make the video.
Attempted to do my first brake job on my 2004 MPV, but could not get the caliper off. I watched the video and saw I was trying to remove too much. This video saved my bacon. Just what I needed. Thanks
Brakes done in 1 hour by following your video. No issues. Too easy. Parts $35, Saved over 300 if done by Mazda dealer who insisted I needed the rotors done. Rotors are in like new condition. Thank you
Thanks man! Helped me with swapping brake pads on my 2003 (last done 5 years ago) And you're right, the 17mm bolts were a PITA. One was slightly rounded from whoever did the last job, but a socket fit well and a cheater bar/pipe did the trick!
Thanks for the video. I too own a Mazda MPV (though it's '05) and just wanted a refresher on the particular type of caliper used (it's been a few years since I changed front pads) so this was just what I needed.
no problem your welcome buddy glad I could be of some help, my next video will show where to find the spare in the MPV, Mazda did a good job of hiding the entry panel
Mrs. Davis to answer your question yes the ignition coils are a pain to get into the front case of the top of the motor cover is pretty easy to remove with 10mm sockets the back ignition coils are a pain it takes about 2.5hrs of removing and then putting back together everything I've done it once but it's too long to video, if you Google how to change them there's a ton of links and diagrams I don't have this van anymore otherwise I'd post more vids sorry guys
You are my hero! I am that chick that loves to work on cars...I have done a few things here and there all have worked out well. I can't wait to get started on this. My only challenge is strength issues, from time to time. Getting the bolts off the tires...uggh! I've done it but not without a few good cuss words, lol! Anywho, do you have anymore video showing your work on the MVP 2004. Since you own one, I know you know about the coil issues. Have you replaced them, if so, any videos, and how did you resolve the problem with the hole in the coil that causes them to get wet and go bad? Front and back...K, one more thing, video on the back brakes? Thanks
Good video. I never done break pads before with your video now I can do it myself. I have 2004 MPV and I need to replace the front pads. How do you know if you need new rotors? Any advice? Is it also easy to do the rear too?
I'm confused if the top bolt for the caliber was easy and didn't need a socket why didn't you just take the one bolt out and pivot it on the other one instead of going through the mess of going and buying the socket?
Shaky and shows backside so quickly that you really don't see jack on what it should look like. Also, several shots on tab placement into clips cut off where clip connection with shoe tab so you can't see them. OK video for general idea, but if you want specifics on fore and back clips, forget it!

thank you my good man
did one on an 01 i keep having a problem with the clips in the caliper mount sliding and touching the rotor. any advice on how to stop this?
You coulda file the bolt head and make it better.
Does the rear have pads or shoes?
do you need to bleed the breaks after?
nope just push in calipers with the old pad and keep the brake reservoir cap open to prevent too much pressure
