I would watch it definitely.Very good idea I think,we could be engaged more and make a stronger connection between us.Can't wait already.👌🏼👌🏼🙂Not only theoretically :D :D
Yes thank you!! You’re a master with drones. I’m taking a trip to Iceland/Switzerland in June and I specifically want lots of drone shots. This is a game changer!
I can't wait to try this with my drone! Saw this effect explained in other videos too, but you man Matti have such a unique way to explain things... :)
I've probably made this comment before, but the reason your videos are so great Matti is because you don't just re-hash everything that's already been done. You make difficult subjects easy to understand and you make tutorials that separate you from the crowd. I feel like I'm well versed in Premiere but I just learned something myself! Kudos! :)
Your tips always help me out in making my videos and makes it lot more easier for anyone because we can do some great stuffs with all these tips that you share. Like the one that you make of stabilizing the videos.
Perfect tutorial! Thank you. One of my favorite type of shots to see on movies. Yes, I know the Jaws scene but the first time I noticed it was actually on E.T. And my favorite movie that used the trick was Road to Perdition. Perfect way of capturing the villain. Thank again Matti! Stay awesome my friend!
If this effect made a noise I think it would sound like WAAAAHHH? Such a easy trick and really impactful (especially in narratives) when used at the right moments!
I've been killin' it with this technique for some shots. I def agree with the not over doing it. Additional Alex Tip: Try to grab a Sport Mode shot at full speed. Get a focus subject or object in the shot and blast away Then try this technique. You're welcome. 🤗 THANKS AGAIN, Great Tip!
The first time I really noticed this effect and that I thought "Shiettt that's intense" was while watching LoTR - Fellowship of the Ring when they were hunting by nazguls in the forest. It's really nice, but you have to use it for a purpose!
i was just an editor and i was barely had no idea to shoot videos but now iam stepping ahead through my stair and shooting right now while iam free and droning my videographers in the crew are appreciating for the footages i took using drones and can bro you are responsible for this thank a lot keep posting looking forward peace brother
Thank you Matt for sharing, I just recently purchase my first drone. I bought the dji mini for starters, so far so go that little thing is fun. Quick question totally not related to drones. I am trying to purchase a camera for my wife. Any tip on starter cameras or something good for starters that you can recommend
One of my favorite uses of this effect was in the movie Spy Game. There's an explosion, and right after is a shot of Robert Redford (Nathan Muir) reacting to it from where he is on top of a building. I think using it sparingly and in this manner is super effective, because you the viewer is caught up in the intensity of the situation and so drawn to his reaction that you don't really notice the the effect on a conscious level.
I love that effect and know exactly what scene in Jaws you are talking about. I am going to go try this this weekend although I have always heard it called a dolly zoom. There is a really cool shot of it in Netflix's Daredevil. I can remember the episode, put it was in a police station. Maybe someone here does. I have also seen it done in reverse to shrink the environment around the character also pretty cool. I wonder if it is just done by zooming in? That would definitely require 4K footage. Have you done the reverse before?
I'm planning to start my UA-cam channel, but I don't have a quatily video editor. I'm outsourcing and I saw what you did in this episode. What application do you use to edit your video?
long time listener, first time caller... great channel mate. love the tips. picking my first drone up next week, stoked to try some of the things i've learnt from you. Can you tell me what software you use to edit with or software that you would recommend for a nube? (i'm running a mac) Cheers mate.
If you have ever had vertigo, the room spins uncontrollably from loose crystals freely floating in the inner ear canal and bumping into sensors. I get the reference of the effect to the movie though.
Theoretically, if I started doing Livestreams who would be down for that????!? Theoretically... 😁
Me Anytime Sir.
That would be chill. I'd tune in!
Literally anyone would be interested in watching your livestreams and get some knowledge.
HI MATTI! I would love to join and if you need a mod LMK!
I would watch it definitely.Very good idea I think,we could be engaged more and make a stronger connection between us.Can't wait already.👌🏼👌🏼🙂Not only theoretically :D :D

I love simple solutions to what seems to be complex problems. You really nailed it in this one.

Glad your learning!
I always find myself coming back to these videos like reading an old book again for refreshers.
Alfred Hitchcock invented that shot and used it in the film "Vertigo" which is why its called the Vertigo effect. Peter Jackson also used it in LOTR.
Yep 👍 what a boss he was
I remember it when i saw it in Jaws, i was amazed by it!
Jaws and Goodfellas diner scene are another two classics
Well, Hitchcock's cinematographer for Vertigo invented it. :)
Also know as the Dolly Zoom Effect 😊

First time Matti going with 5 minute and useful video. If you keep it this way, I guarantee you will hit 2M in the next 6 months.

First time I see such simple tutorial for this effect. Amazing!
It really is easy!
Love the effect! I'm a little nauseous now from watching this too many times. Definitely gonna give this a try when I go to Japan to film!

Great video as usual! Could you do a tutorial combining this and the "cinematic bars"?? (the black strips on the top and bottom)

Awesome tip! Do you know Lumafusion for iPad? This should be possible with, do you know that?

I just realised you use your window as backlight, im so impressed, I'm so unambitious with my lighting, I almost always use the window as a key.
That affect is awesome!!! I’m gonna have to give it a try now!
Love your tutorial videos Matti! You explain everything so clearly that I never have to rewatch it incase I missed anything
I've always wondered how it is done in post. And never thought that would be so easy. All thanks to you. 😄

Douglas Zanon or nest your clip and then remap as usual
