I think Duvall is a very thoughtful and respectable man. Much of what he said here is the reason my husband and I have seen only 3 first run movies since 1992. We have over 1100 movies on DVD, but the vast majority of them were made before 2000.

The only thing Hollywood cares about is bigger and bigger PROFIT,not the performance or story. Look at John Carter which was a great SciFi film but it didn’t make the money Disney hoped it would so they never made the follow on film to continue the story. The sad thing is Disney sabotaged its profitability by not advertising it and putting it out at a bad time of the year with too much competition. Plus the title didn’t bring out the SciFi fans because they left out “Of Mars” in the title. “John Carter Of Mars” would have gotten a lot of curiosity and brought out more movie goers. Today’s DEI obsessed Hollywood is its own worst enemy. I quit going to movies in the theatre because of a lack of films based on character,writing and the over use of special effects. How about making films based on great stories and characters,like “Amy Man Godfrey”? Light hearted comedy with a great cast.
