In the 80s I had two wool coats that I used to spray down, one with Obsession and the other with Poison and it would last all winter, memories!

Mesmerizing and regressive video dacob! My top 10 fragrances from the 1980s is going to be quite different from yours cause I grew up in France and we didn’t have Giorgio, Elizabeth Taylor, Liz clairbone and Calvin Klein at the time. All those brands were released in France by 1992/1993, following the 90210 mania. Those which are stuck in my subconscious olfactive memory are:
Poison by Christian Dior. A true masterpiece and the 1st real olfactive memory of my life. I remember my mum used to put on the body milk called at the time « lait merveilleux » every night before going to bed. The fragrance of the milk was even more delicious than the actual esprit de parfum.
    Fidji by guy Laroche
Mure et musc by l’artisan parfumeur
    Fahrenheit by Christian Dior
    Loulou by cacharel
Coco is the fragrance that ignited my love for Chanel (I was crazy about that the TV commercial featuring Ines de la Fressange. As a 7 year old little boy, I dreamt about the lifestyle depicted in the tv spot)
Kenzo ça sent beau and Kenzo hommes
    L’eau d’Hadrien by Annick goutal
    Paris by Yves saint Laurent
    Jardins de bagatelle by guerlain
Polo for men by Ralph Lauren
All those fragrances are reminiscent of some friends or family members that are not here anymore.
Up to this day, I am still wearing mure et musc and yes, Dacob, i do belong to the 3rd estate: I’d rather eat cakes... just because having an acidic skin, all flower/ resin (musk and amber apart) / wood based perfumes tend to turn into horse pee (pisse de cheval in French). I do mostly wear citrus or musk based fragrances.
You are right, when I think about 1980s fashion, I mostly think about America (Michael Jackson, Madonna, American psycho, dynasty, the movies American gigolo, back to the future, goonies, working girls...).
As a kid, I used to collect miniatures perfume. I think they were my 1st entry to the luxury world. You are right: SA were not stingy at the time and I always got gifted mini perfumes that I still own... they are somewhere in my basement and surprisingly, most of the fragrances haven’t deteriorated as years go by. The ingredients must have been much less synthetic at the time, I suppose.

I love LouLou. I got it from my mom a year ago, she told she used it when she was her twenties like me at the moment. It’s the new formulation, she wanted to try it after many years and said either it’s not ’her’ anymore or it’s changed. Made me falling in love incence note. Joop Le bain (1989) is my second fave, my perfect vanilla, not anything like most nowdays vanilla perfumes. It’s actually only secret of mine when people ask what are you wearing hahah 😈

Thank you so much Carol! 🙏🏻😘 You and me both, we love a bit of our cultural history sprinkled in with the videos 😆 . New formulation of Lou Lou is definitely that one rare example of a reformulation doing a perfume much good but not intentionally. Haha. They wanted to save money but in the greedy process they actually made a better scent. Very very instance. Haha. ♥️

I got the Spanish Giorgio, thanks for bursting my baloon! It smelled strong and happy even from the box and the notes remind me of women of the eighties for sure in gold jewelry and Madonna bleach blonde glory. Obsession and Eternity to me were the artsy chic neutrals with brown as the main color.

You picked the best ones! The 80's were a wonderful time and generous with those samples. It was a treat to see you pull out the Poison body powder and your Eternity pure perfume bottle in its original packaging. I have that spaceship bottle of the original Lou Lou and am down to the last 20 ml. Thank you for explaining about reformulation, definitely worth buying.

I came of age during the 1980’s. The perfumes that shaped my life, Halston Z14, Giorgio, Dior Poison, Estée Lauder Beautiful, and Coco the original, YSL opium. I still have an original Opium dry body spray that I bought probably in 1987. There’s a half inch of it in the plastic frosted spray bottle. It’s a little different from the parfum, I like it better.

Come on 80's yesssss!! Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks that vintage LouLou is a powdery take on Poison. Vintage formulation smells a bit too crowded... they somehow managed to make it more interesting by watering it down and amping up that cold incense note. I'm also not too crazy for that orris old school makeup powdery drydown, which the modern formulation doesn't have. They're pretty much two different fragrances and modern LouLou doesn't resemble Poison at all. I would also add Knowing by Estee Lauder to that list 😜 we need some chypre chile
