  • My youngest son and I spent the weekend exploring the Chugach Mountains around Valdez, Alaska. We hiked up to the Worthington Glacier. It is some of the most beautiful country imaginable. We fished the streams, visited the waterfalls, and watched the last of the spawning salmon. Best of all, I was able to spend a few precious days with my son, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Stella kept us entertained and enjoyed herself immensely. She is a true adventurer and is always ready to go along.
Thank you all for your friendship and support of this channel. I have enjoyed visiting with so many of you over the months. I consider it a great privilege to be able to create these videos to share with all of you.
    Peace.

Enjoy, the beauty, your son and can’t forget Stella, in such a wonderful place. In life you’ve built things from wood, but more importantly you built family bounds, both will last forever.

We spent the first week of March this year based in Anchorage. We went to Willow and experienced the Iditarod. and we also drove down to Seward and took a 4 hour boat cruise. The views were inspiring. 3 of my kids have never skied or snowboarded, so we took them to a small slope in Anchorage, then we ventured to Girdwood, and they skied on Alyeska. A beautiful mountain with breathtaking views. You can only do so much in a week, but we did cover almost 800 miles in our rental van. I think our next trip will be in the summer so we can explore more. I'd like to see Denali, Fairbanks and Homer to name a few. Northern lights too as we did not see them on this trip. Your videos bring me back to good times, and this one with your son is very special. I have a son, 3 daughters and a son in law and i want to enjoy every minute I can with them. Thank you for the videos, the stories and the lessons you are teaching all us apprentices. God Bless you and your family. - Pete

Good evening Pete. When you come up next you should stop by we’ll share a cup of coffee. My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Girdwood (36 years ago). We still visit there every few years for dinner and to remember. Alaska is so vast you just can’t take it in in a vacation. I have lived here over half a century and there are still so many things I would like to see. I am glad you enjoyed your time here. Stay in touch.

Lorraine, I hope that you and your husband are able to visit! Alaska is well worth the time energy & $ that it takes to visit here. One thing to note is that points of interest tend to be very spread out so really seeing the state can involve a lot of time traveling between places. Because of that it takes more time and can be more expensive than traveling to some other places. Renting a car and driving can be a great option. Thanks so much for watching! Best of luck with your travel plans!

Camping with my boys was a great thing , both are active outdoorsmen to this day , teaching their kids . Time flies !!! My youngest ugliest boy and his family are always camping . 99.6 % of his gear he stole from me. Kind of , sort of , borrowed and forgot where he got it from. The other 04. % I willingly gave to him. Time flies , Remember that. Nice knife by the way Buck 120 ?? I own several bucks , most useful knife I own though is a khukri from India , it was made from a car spring by hand . It was like $50.00 ,but it cannot break . It's a great camping -protection - small sword. A good knife is always going to cost you , but I'm always looking. Peace.

Good morning my friend. Your comments are priceless. I actually laughed out loud while reading them. I can imagine how fun your campfire conversations must be. I have eight sons and two son-in-laws, and I love to banter with them. "Stealing" or borrowing and "forgetting" to return camp gear is one of our favorite topics. Yes, the Buck 120 is my old standby. Its one of those things the kids will fight over one day. Thanks for being part of this channel. Peace.

Hello and welcome to Italy. It was wonderful to tiptoe into such an intimate piece of the trip with your son. It will be wonderful for this boy to grow up and remember. Your territory is great, but I'm a little worried about the state of the glaciers, I really hope they don't disappear too quickly. Now I will sit in a corner near the small river behind the house, to think back with so much nostalgia about my father and our travels. Greetings from Italy.

Such stark beauty. Where do the trees you build with come from? Wide open spaces a vast cavern of sky spiked by snow capped mountain peaks. The vast openness is somewhat disconcerting….something like the feeling that comes on open sea. My instinct is to run to trees. Where do you run when there are no trees? I imagine the answer is that you don’t run. This beauty takes no prisoners. Seems what it takes is strength and integrity. The other thought that comes to mind is to see a boy without an electronic device in hand speaking with an adult of his own free will. He wanted to learn and was willing to try what he didn’t know. That one is a keeper. So heartwarming to see and listen to the interaction. What fine memories will be kept by that young man. Thanks for sharing ALL of that beauty.

Hello, I'm writing from Lithuania, this is a small Baltic country, and I won't be surprised at all if you don't know this country... but if it's the other way around, it's very nice. However, I was very interested in your channel (I have been interested in Alaska for a long time), where you show everything and about everything. Your videos are very cool, especially since you do everything yourself, on your own, and you do it very well. I admire your abilities, patience and perseverance to do everything perfectly, knowing your geographical location and difficult weather conditions. I can't help mentioning your wonderful wife, who is always by your side, and your wonderful children and grandchildren, with whom you communicate very nicely ... Although I did not have a chance to visit Alaska, I am in love with her. Stay healthy. Good luck to you.👍💗

So glad you had that time to explore and share together. It will be remembered and hopefully repeated with future generations.
Was that slate you were holding up? Just imagine the age of that and how natural made it shear off and travel there.
Just incredible..Lucky family that's in your backyard.

hello Gale. As you promised, you sent us a wonderful video of the trip with your youngest son. You have been in a wonderful area with fascinating nature. There were mountain rivers, glaciers, all in a beautiful natural state. Such nature is not easy to meet. I was very happy to see it and I thank you very much for that.
    Thank you for everything

@@ThisIsMyAlaska yes it was, nothing better than a family in the same wishes and activities ...as a scouting Cub leader ...Akela... I loved my young boys and I was young since my 12 ...so of course in the same likes... but the best was to see my family in all the things we were doing, and as everybody loved my parents it felt even better. So when I saw as you were teaching your grandson just as my parents did I could feel how your one did...nothing better than the feeling of love and care🥰💫

I've only been as far as Calgary Canada and absolutely loved it, unfortunately our time spent in your beautiful part of the world did not allow time to visit Alaska. In my country, New Zealand, compared to yours is similar. We have snow in small parts in the central North Island, and a range of mountains running the length of the South Island. No wolves or bears except for deer, goats which were introduced at the arrival of the European. Thank you for sharing a part of your lovely adventure with your son. Kiaora kotou, greetings to you both.

I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. I think in some ways it would be similar to here with the added benefit of warm, sunny beaches and the lack of animals that can kill you 😬. I hope one day you will be able to visit Alaska as it is a special and unique place. Thanks so much for watching, friend. Peace to you.

Good evening outra vez Gale !

Good morning Sandra. I am always so pleased to hear from you. You are one of my earliest friends on this channel and I value that. You have given me so much encouragement and good feedback (and read my books too). I am glad you were able to see a little of the country around Valdez and make the connection back to Frank Glaser. I am also so pleased that the captions are working. I hand-type all of them in so they should be accurate. I think I may have missed responding to your last comment. I will go back and search for it. It sounds like you responded to some of my questions and I somehow missed it. I will search and see. Thank you again Sandra. Peace.

Thank you for sharing, I have found my new favorite content creator. I am in South Africa in a sub-tropical climate and are always amazed at how people adapt to cold climates. Love your content and have watched everything twice already. What breed is Stella? Our Lab is aged and Stella seems to have the personality of a lab, very nice pup.

Bart, thank you so much for watching and for the very kind, encouraging comment. Stella is a standard poodle but often people on here mistake her for a lab. Poodles are also water dogs and I’ve not owned a lab but I can tell you that Stella is a wonderful animal, non-shedding and very low maintenance as far as training goes. She is very smart and intuitive but she does have to be groomed periodically. Fortunately she’s so easy going, we usually do it ourselves. I would highly recommend, there just isn’t anything about her that we don’t like. Peace to you. Friend.

@@ThisIsMyAlaska oooh, that is so great! In Austria that's not allowed at all! You can only ask private property owners if they let you camp there or on official camp grounds.. which, of course, is not as special and beautiful and quiet as in the wild nature! I admire you :) kind regards!!

Love the tents. Here in southeast Alabama we don’t need ones with heaters as much as we need ones with air conditioners!!! The Alaska that you show us is the one I want to see. Not the tourist spots the cruise ships take you to. My sons and grandsons went hunting up there last year, but didn’t kill anything.
