Myself & my dad just rebuilt this Ex rental Ferrari F430 today we find out whether our hard work has paid off. We already know the engine that we rebuilt starts but the gearbox is still a question. Today i hope to get the car drive-able and take it out on its first drive but it all goes terribly wrong.

You should buy your dads dream car and do a series on fixing it. And surprise him with it in the end.
I support this
Love this
I said the same thing I'm last video
Get this man a drink!
Up vote this!!!
NISSAN GTR R34 rebuild
i’m not going to lie i like your dad so much man, seeing you involving him in your project is so cool to watch. 😊❤
The Dad we all wish we had 😢
Oh sugar. Hopefully you can sort it
I had a Dad like that. Died when l was just 39! I still miss him after 33 yrs! Rip Mate.
He's definitely the coolest.
Agreed
At 21:30, seeing the time on his phone show “23:04” just tells you the amount of hours and late nights that has been put into this rebuild, amazing commitment

Haha let me tell you something... i work in this industry (mechanic) when you see that they working that late in night don't worry cuz the next day they don't start working at 7 in the morning... in the best case scenario they'll start at 10 the next day but realistically probably at noon or after so that's why they "stay so late" to work:))
He probably got up at 11 the next day, you don’t know.
So many crazy little things with that Ferrari. Coming along nicely finally though.
Who asked@@MrWeirdo.
Armstrong is a genius big respect to him

You just can't never get enough of this guy. HIs story telling and upbeating energy is just addicting!
Always put the cabin heater to maximum temperature setting so hot coolant flows through the cabin heater core as well and thus pushes out any trapped air...
And the fan on low! Also, replace the thermostat as soon as possible, running with no thermostat is also harmful for the engine...
@@cristianosantos9588it’s not harmful in anyway, just means it takes a long time to build temperature. Yes harmful if you start thrashing it over and over with cold coolant
@@SpeedyShemi I thought that too until I saw what it does to the piston rings over a long term...
@@cristianosantos9588what does it do to the pistons?
But to avoid going over this bleeding over and over, just replace the defective thermostat for a new OEM part directly, it's pointless running it without it... For engine parts, I always use original brand parts...
I love Ferrari…
Never doubted it 😅😂
The coolant won't circulate to the front rads if you remove the stat. The stat has a bypass valve which circulates the coolant around just the engine block for quicker warm up. As the coolant gets to temp the wax pushes the main valve to the rads open at the same time closes of the engine bypass circuit.
Without the stat the coolant will take the path of least resistance ie around the block and boil. Its not going to force it around the rad circuit, put a new stat in and it will be fine
Yea , also stat is needed to slow coolant flow enough that it can draw enough heat from the engine
Jackanory is back!!!! Leave the stat out for testing. The water pump circulates the coolant not the stat doh
The stat directs the flow of coolant
Wrong. You would just have constant flow of coolant through the engine and radiators, however it does put more stress on the coolant pump and it takes longer to get up to operating temperature
Sod them Mat, you're doing fine. Follow your mechanical instincts
Mat you really need to start wearing ear defenders around these cars you fix. I’m really concerned for all of you guys hearing.
Get a proper burping funnel and then rev the engine to up to 3k periodically to remove the air lock. Keep doing it until all bubbles are expelled.
bro is at SEMA but still thinking about us and uploading content🥺🔥
Officially gassed, stradman and now Matt all uploading on the same day is always a good day👌👌
Can u believe it brother, just epic, keep it coming!🦾🦾🦾👌🏈🏈🇿🇦
Such a good day ❤
Its midnight here and i watched both of the videos, carbon aventador and ferrari
And Alex too!
Ikr
that was a small amount of progress but so much fault finding and investigating it makes the video very, very interesting. don't be afraid to make videos like this in the future, i personally really enjoy them as much as the ones where you make loads of progress.
I haven't seen anyone mentioning it, but in the future you can take the return line from the coolant reservoir and use brake bleeder to suck all the air out of the system as you fill the reservoir at the same time. Then you know that the system is air free when there is coolant coming out of the return with no air anymore 🙂 Also works if you have some extra bleeding nipples but that I believe is normally not the case.
That’s a smart idea!
doesnt a brake pressure bleeder push in air once you pump it up rather than suck it? how would you connec it up
@@mohitl1697there are different brake bleeders, ones that you pump the pressure up on the reservoir, and the ones that you use to suck pressure out the bleeding nipple using vacuum
You mean a mityvac with a bottle attachment..the way I alway use to bleed Porsches when I worked for porsche was vacuum fill..heater on full heat, full fan speed and road test.. you literally feel the airlock go as the heaters get hot real quick
You guys seriously need to invest PPE. It’s all good doing these builds, but look after your health. Respirators, ear muffs, eye glasses.
Hi Mat, great series there, i enjoyd watching up to this point, if this could be helpful, that ferrari (F-430) was the first one to come out with the "E-Diff", it's basically an electronic controlled differential with variable locking, based on the setting of the "manettino", road condition, tires warn, esp setting and driving style.
The "F430 Scuderia" got and updated version of it: the "E-diff 2".
The "clutch plate" you found while mounting it, is essentially a real hidraulic clutch that is released or pressed by an actuator connected to a sensor and a pump, that should have it's own circuit (i guess).
When a wheel slips under traction, the e-diff clutch is electronically released or pressed in order to adjust the torque, by sending more or less of it to the wheel that needs it, this is done mainly in order to maximize the traction helping the driver to have a better control of the slip angle with the gas during a power-oversteer, also on track it is used to not make you lose too much speed when fully oversteering put of a quick corner and both rear wheels wants to slip.
Since this clutch is prone to wear out some owners use a thing called "Smart by-pass for the e-diff", that essentially electronically disconnect the E-diff system letting it to work as a normal open diff.
My guess is that some bad pressure/mounting on the e-diff/inner clutch plate could be causing the wheel spinning while in neutral and also could cause while driving around a burning of that clutch/oil, high temps and who knows what else.
I say this also cause when you pressed the brake while at idle it sounded like the force the car needed to idle was not enough anymore, like something increased instantly the gearbox drag.
I'm really cheering on you for the project and i do hope you read this comment and that could be helpful to prevent some damage to it and useful for some improvement.
Watch out that misfire on the right bank (before mounting the capristo exaust) and keep being meticoulus, even if that requires more time, your Ferrari needs to be perfect by carring all the love you put while rebuilding it, you can do it mate!
P.S.
Love the team you make with your dad, you can see on his face the smile of a young man and the joy of his 30's when the engine takes life and revs out.
Tues is a busy day for good content but it wasn't a hard decision to make. Matt's video was always gonna be the 1st one to watch.
Man that exhaust sounds awsome
Your supercar knowledge and all the little quirks is growing exponentially week on week. You and your dad never fail to impress me
Best F430 exhaust out there, no question :P
@@Scuderiacarparts it sounds like a beautiful monster 🐲
Loving the build Mat, excellent workmanship and hopefully in the next episode you can sort out the coolant issue! 😊
Me struggling to put gears on a bike: Mat: WE REBUILT A MCLAREN LETS GOOOOO...
Don’t want to say it, but… yes the thermostat is cheap and easy to replace so this would have been a cheap and easy thing to do before hand for added security 😂 besides that, amazing stuff! love watching all these episodes, Your Dad is a UK hidden gem 👊🏼
I agree. Whenever I had things far enough to get my hands on the thermostat, I replaced it unless it only had a few miles on it. It's so messy changing it that I might prevent a future problem.
It’s a Ferrari nothing is cheap to replace
Car vertical is so over priced. Plenty of cheaper alternatives that give as much information like total car check. £1.99 vs £17.99. And the data comes from the same source.
love your utter enthusiasm and utter happiness even in the event of severe travesty! Your bubbly personality and down to earth persona is what makes your channel GROW and keeps us all coming back !
Check if the fans are working then the water pump and thermostat that’s what happen to my car they told me the head gasket is gone but I fixed it my self and it worked
I don’t even have a huge interest in cars. But I binged the entire Ferrari series this morning on a rare day off… love the attention to detail, the passion for what you do and the commitment to your cause.
Looking forward to the next ones and to see it on the road 👊🏽
Remember folks if you see Matt Armstrong's cars in the wild make sure you shove a Snicker bar in the gas, "it will ruin the fuel pump" and steel ball bearings or BBs into the crankcase, because we're haters that can't afford one... 😂😂😂
Keep up the amazing work mat
All I can say is that Dad is more popular than Mat😂😂😂. Time to do a build for him!
Very impressive that you assembled that gearbox without instructions.
That might not be a good thing.
@@gdfggggg I love the fact they tried but I'm not 100% confident about that gearbox
@@gdfggggghe’s done so many things wrong on this car due to either stupidity or ignorance there’s no way this car will ever work right or be reliable.
They may have received a copy of the Ferrari workshop manual (or at least the relevant pages) from someone, under the condition that they didn’t mention having received it. Ferrari are very litigious, so avoiding mentioning having breached their copyright would be best for everyone involved.
@@Jonathan_Doe_ Yeah, there must be something.
You didn't pull enough vacuum before filling. You should have it around -25 before filling. Also, when filling, have the bucket higher up so you can pull more coolant in with less work due to the height difference
Pull the vacuum in to the yellow & check all the hoses are sucked flat to make sure there's little or no air left in the system. That seems to work on Porsches.
10 years ago this would have been a smash hit TV show on the BBC or something and now we get it for free on UA-cam.
Man this has been a crazy series. It’s crazy I found your channel too as a fellow bmx rider (well ex bmx rider) lol. This build series has been impressive I will say. You make it look easy but… I’ve been a service advisor in shops and dealers for the last 20 years. So I know what it takes to do some of this stuff and what you do and how you have came up with the car stuff is amazing. You and your dad make a good pair. He seems super knowledgeable as well. 👍🏻 👍🏻 nice work guys. 👌🏻 ✅
Looks like you GRAFTED for this one! How late were you up? 😅
Love the content bro, i remember you since the parking lot audi repair man your an inspiration!
Mat, be a good lad and buy your dad some earplugs...
Amazing content Mat, keep em coming mate
Make sure you wash the floor properly because cats and dogs love the taste of coolant and it can do some serious damage to your dog!
Top content as usual, love how you've got an amazing bond with your dad
I'm rolling around in a 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer SS and this chode had super cars, his Ferrari failure sustains me... 😂😂😂
We love your content ❤❤
Seeing someone else rebuild the F430 is awesome. I love it
Thanks man!!
You and your dad are legends Mat! The excitement on your face when it all works, that’s what it’s all about smiles and laughter! Nice job!!
He gave this to his dad🎉🎉
@@daddys_slow5oh he did indeed.. what a legend.
the torque on those banjo bolts at 24:30 got me like 😬😬😬. Those are usually only 15-22ish ft lbs depending on application.
Fantastic progress guys 😁🤘that cooling systems gunna be a mare 🙈
I just got notified that YCR has another UA-camrs BMW. I have been watching their videos I'd hoped that you'd at least do some update at their shop.
Well done Mat 👏 and it’s great to hear an exhaust upgrade without pops and bangs, bravo 🎉
Wait till we hear it properly! 🔊 💥
the wheels stopped spinning when the vacum system was plugged in…. like how do you know what hoses go where on the solenoid valve….?? crazy!!
What an episode ❤ Making some wicked progress you should all be proud Big up Kevin and Hannah too 👍
I almost forgot we have a Ferrari rebuild😮😮😊
alright, listen. you are. my favorite. car youtuber. based on one thing alone. your relentless positivity. i had so much investment into you and your friends and family getting this thing going and i can actually feel how excited you all are when you finally have a success on your cars. i actually caught myself FISTPUMPING when you got the reverse gear. well done, Mat. Well done. Hopefully, one day, someday, I'll have a project of my own and we might carve up some backwoods roads together. you're a legend. Cheers
I love watching Mat just to hear him say "Cloooch pedal" haha!
Mat! you're that type of fellow for which I'd move to GBR.... i love your work, content, vibe, family and hard work! I'm waiting like my fav tv series, for the next episode... you're killing me mate!
Cheers!!!!
Mat there's a lovely Cullinan on copart which I'm sure would be a great project! Check it out please
Mat you need to put car heating to max temperature when you are bleeding coolant because it will open small radiator and that air lock will be gone
Fook-mee Fook-yoo (Austin Powers) now the clutch are on any good with mini metro!! 😅😅
Love your efforts man❤
Hey Mat -- When I first found your channel I thought you were kind of a knob (lol), but you've become one of my favorite UA-camrs and you seem like a really awesome dude. Thanks for doing great work!
Thanks man!
I think your vacuum is not deep enough.
If you have 0,5 bar pressure in the system half the air is still on the system
It's absolutely normal for the wheels to spin under full gas in te air ....
Love your videos Mat. Also love how you trolled the negative nancies from the internet. Keep it going. HWBT!
From Phoenix, Arizona
What is the song at the end of each vid called cuz I love it. Plz comment if u know . Love the vids btw❤
What's the part you can't fix? Good content but click bait tittle ... shame
Hey Matt is your dads name Tony I heard you camera guy say it. And has your dad got his dream car I think it would be a good show if you do his dream car 22:23
30k miles on a F430 is very high mileage, according to the Ferrari nerds.
MAT ARMSTRONG💪🏻is the supercar aliver.
Big SUGGESTION to MATT , go and Find the AUDI TT the first car you did on UA-cam , the car your Mrs Crashed The Car that started it all . Now I’ve searched the Number plate and it comes up Blank ?
But Matt after all the cars you now own and the ones you have kept for yourself WHY haven’t you tracked down the AUDI TT ? This Would be of great interest to most of your Hardcore FOLLOWERS.
It should be added to your Hall of FAME = Your Collection .
Track it down Find it BRING IT HOME !
Come on Matt !!
do a updated video of all your cars and progress
"I built a reverse gear box" 🤣🤣 Love you Matt
That ferrari sounds amazing very entertaining channel
Matt could u do anthor range rover video I really liked them pls do it again
The pour skill demonstrated at 3:17 are next level😂
I think I’ve said this before and on other accounts. Buy a freaking suction bleeder!!! Stop pumping everything. A suction bleeder is like $60. Zero chance of getting air into anything and it’s all hands or feet off. I have no idea why dozens of car UA-camrs don’t freaking have these!
Whats that word mean on your hand that is written in arabic
Is it kevin?
1 million views in 20 hours…. dab!!!
That caprisco sounds amazing. I ended up buying the challenge stradale for mine off Scott. Rattarossa
Amazing ❤
My new favorite Channel on YT to watch. Amazing content and love the way You’ve managed to record and tell about all the details. You guys keep rockin 👍🏼
Greetings from Denmark
I like how Matt’s dad reaction to anything is laugh
Where is the next part matt, iam still waiting for it😂❤
Just a thought. But you might want to invest in a couple of good industrial grade fans. As you have no air flowing through the radiators. As they would get when it is driving down a road. A great spot by Tony with the thermostat. Make sure the radiator fans are working. So when it gets hot. They kick in as they should. All the best. With this build.
I can only admire the effort, the patience and the commitment from these guys ! Waiting for part 6 and hopefully seing the car ripping through gears outside and of course not overheating.
This is just amazing.
Epic
crazy technology complexity…. like how do you know if everything is plugged in properly ??? good job!
You need to buy a Lotus Carlton and boost tf out of it. Edit: for younger viewers it was a saloon that was as fast as a Ferrari Testarossa and made the UK police completely overhall its entire fleet of cars because none of them could catch it. There was a green one than done ram raids all over the country then vanished. One of them right next to a police station. Folk tried to ban it. A genuine urban legend.
Amazing, you really broke the back of the Ferrari project now, just needs lots of fettling and the bodywork now. That exhaust sounds amazing too, its going to be an amazing car when it's finished. Half an hour of pure entertainment, just sitting here with a grin on my face from start to end. 👍
Proper high pitched F1 howl - exactly what you want from your Ferrari :)
hahaha ... As you're describing just how the exhaust parts go together, I had a sudden flash of you singing "The hip bone is connected to the thigh bone..." but in car terms. hahahaha
Thank you for making me realize how blissfully happy I should be with my 2014 Toyota Corolla.
Your challenges and puzzles made this all the more interesting! Keep it up!
18:16 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loving how the videos get 1M views in 24hrs as standard now…. Mad work rate 🎉 Big up 👊🏾
pls some one make the "great news " a meme 2:08
What couldn't you fix?
Nuts. I bet that exhaust was expensive and they have cheap Chinese gaskets with it.
How many cars you working on at the same time-

"wHy dIdN't yOu pUt iN a nEw tHeRmOsTaT" part killed me 😆
Is the Clutchpump even a real Word? Clutch mastercylinder it is for sure 😂😂😂
Gotta do something JDM next that’d be epic. Like a wrecked rx7 fd
I'm new to your channel and I've watched a few or your projects and I have to say I love watching you guys build these cars, I also love the positivity! I'm from Michigan btw
STOP Giving all the Blame to Matt's Dad.. he is the star of the channel..
