The "True Christian" doesn't worry about his sin. He knows his sin have been erased. Scripture tells us our sins are as far from God as East is from the West. God tells us He as (thru Jesus) put our sins behind Him and He sees them NO MORE.

The response to the question at 1:01:45 -- WOW! That totally opened up a whole new world for me!!
THANK YOU for being so direct, so no-holds-barred! I NEED in-your-face preaching and teaching; I need it spelled out bluntly and directly, in spite of what my flesh feels about it.
This one answer has changed my thinking and my spiritual life. Thank you!

    Excellent points.
I've had a very close brother in whom we confessed/ confided in each other. We didn't let it turn into the "catholic weekly confession". Our wives also knew why we were meeting. As we overcame and starved the flesh, we kept meeting and the prayer time grew into other subjects.

I just discovered this bible study and hope to make it in person soon. In ministering on the sidewalk at abortion clinic mission fields 10 minutes north of Herb"s coffee shop I often use, in addition to Psalm 139, John, 1 John, Psalms 32 and 51 when trying to reach the lost, hurting and vulnerable there. It's encouraging to hear how all these passages are connected. Thank you.

( Colossians 2:13-14 ) And YOU being DEAD in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made ALIVE together with him, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU all trespasses , HAVING wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was contrary to us. And he HAS TAKEN it out of the way having nailed it to the cross. So why would you still want to confess your sins for forgiveness when they were already taken away at the cross"?

So we don't need to ask for forgiveness because we're already forgiven in Christ by the blood of Jesus past present and future. Help me plese. I've always seen 1 John 1:9 as a Christian bar of soap so to speak. I want to understand! Please.

Bless You Rodney, You have answered your own question correctly. The forgiveness for all sins that was applied at the cross allowed the reconciliation between God and man by His death and by His resurrected life, ushered in eternal life for all who would by faith believe". It is finished. Trust and rest in your salvation. We do not need to keep asking for forgiveness for sins that have already been taken away at ther cross. (1 John 1 :9 ) does not wash away sins or anything. That passage was meant for the unbelievers that John was speaking to at that time, a message of salvation in Christ and not a bar of soap for believers.@@MetanoiaAndBelieve Notice that John does not address believers until chapter 2 where he begins to address believers as brethren or little children so chapter one was a call to salvation for unbelievers. God Bless

He actually just talked in circles. Many who are lost and deceived do not understand what 1 John 1:8-10 is even relating.
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭1:8-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Since we are all born in sin and in ignorance of God’s word and truth John was relating how anyone who claims that they have never sinned at some time in their life is then deceived and they do not understand the truth that is being related in scripture. John was then saying that if would repent and confess our sins to God then God is faithful to forgive us of our sins and He would then cleanse us from living a sinful and unrighteousness life. John then related that anyone who believes that they have never sinned in this life is then calling God a liar. But nowhere is John ever relating that a believer will always continue to sin or that a believer could never overcome their sins as the children of the devil often desire to believe.
Anyone who continues to sin certainly does not understand scripture and they clearly do not believe that it is possible to be living the perfect life that Jesus commanded us to live through His Holy Spirit.
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:48‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Every day I encounter believers who claim that they can never stop sinning and that sickness is just a normal part of a believers life. Clearly these people do not understand that Jesus did not sin nor did Jesus ever get sick and if you were allowing His Holy Spirit to guide you in your life then it would be impossible for you to sin or to get sick as well. And so their own words are proving how they are an unbeliever who belongs to the devil since they are revealing that they will not believe that possessing the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ can keep their wicked soul from sinning. They are revealing that they will not believe that possessing the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ who never got sick and who who removed every type of sickness, disease or disability from everyone who turned to Him in faith can protect their souls from the devil’s afflictions. Even though God commanded us to live a Holy and righteous life through the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ and Jesus even said to sin no more many are foolishly believing they can never stop sinning nor overcome their sins.
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
      ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭NKJV
“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
      ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭1:13-16‬ ‭NKJV‬
Scripture clearly relates how God will never lie so Jesus would have never told the man at the pool of Bethesda to sin no more if it were impossible for the man to stop sinning. Plus Jesus made it crystal clear that it was the man’s sins that made him disabled since Jesus related that a worse thing would come upon the man if he did not stop sinning.
“But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭5:13-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Since we are all born in sin this is why we need the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ in our lives since we need His Spirit to teach us how to stop sinning. And if we do not possess His Holy Spirit then it is impossible for us to stop sinning or to enter the kingdom of God. This is why we are called Christians since a Christian is someone who possesses the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ and who lives exactly as Jesus did and once again Jesus did not sin nor did Jesus ever get sick.
So anyone who continues to sin is certainly proving that they are an unbeliever and a liar and they definitely are not a Christian who possesses God’s Holy Spirit. They are just one of the many fake Christians who have been deceived by the devil and they clearly are being guided by a demon spirit. Jesus did not come to call on the righteous since a righteous person is someone who does not sin.
“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
So anyone who believes that they can never stop sinning is certainly not comprehending what scripture is relating and this is why they will twist scripture verses like 1 John 1:8-10 or Romans 3:10, 3:23 and 7 to try and justify why their deceived soul still can sin. When they try this nonsense they prove they are an unbeliever who is a liar and this is why their lost soul will be heading for an eternity in the lake of fire.
“And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.””
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:6-8‬ ‭NKJV
‬Realize that there are no scriptures that ever relate that a sinner belongs to God or that a sinner is a child of God! There are no scriptures that ever relate that a believer will always sin or that a believer can never stop sinning! There are no scriptures that ever relate that sickness would be a normal part of this life or that a Christian will possess sickness in their life! You can look all that you like but you certainly will not find any such scripture to back up those lies. Scripture makes it very clear that anyone who sins belongs to the devil and anyone who belongs to God cannot and does not sin.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭3:8-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
So anyone who continues to sin is certainly proving that they are just one of the many who have no idea what scripture is even relating and they are just an unbelieving sinner whose soul belongs to the devil and they certainly are not being guided by the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ

Why is it that anytime a teacher. shares the word of God. we always agree. the holy spirit teaches grace not the law. under the law they had to offer a sacrifice. for the sin"s of the people every year. but when jesus came he offered his sacrifice once and for all for sin"s. you can say sorry to God for your sins a hundred times a day but it doesn't change the fact that you have already been forgiven once and for all. past present and future let the holy spirit teach you the finish work of the cross. Because he's the spirit of truth be bless

Q: What IF particular or most verses of Psalms were conversations, pleas, acknowledgments, praise and encouragements between the Father, the Son and the HS and are mostly recorded/transcribed words between them pre-world, incarnation of Jesus, etc.
WHAT would happen and how would we love and see the Triune God even more... when we could read and hear conversations they had IF Psalms were studied wholly in that light just one time...rather than centering around David or man??? Those many pronouns are there for a reason to unravel Who said What to Who......AND it all begins with Psalms 1.

Many of the lost and deceived do not understand what 1 John 1:8-10 is even relating.
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

I love Dr Lawsons teaching, but he failed to fully explain the James 5:16 verse the brother brought up. I believe in addition confession your sins to the one you have sinned against, James instructs believers who are struggling with sin to seek faithful and trusted brothers and sisters in Christ who will intercede for them in their battle with sin. He is not suggesting that we confess our sins carelessly to just anyone, but to mature believers who will provide spiritual and practical support.
    Thank you Dr Lawson!

What about the blasphemy against the spirt? Does someone who commit that sin blind to their sin? Is it a continuous hardening of heart? What about the verb tenses in those verses? Is speaking against the holy spirit in the continuous sense or a one time act? Cause some versions of 1st john make it sound like if you sin once you are of the devil. Other translations say practice. Can someone commit that sin out of anger once and then repent? Is there a difference between doing it out of frustration and anger and doing out of an unwillingness to come to Christ? I struggle in understanding the language because Jesus also said if you deny if before men you will be denied before the angels. A straightforward reading of the text seems to indicate Peter is out, but we know that is not true because he repented, but in the text it does not add the words, unless you repent. it simply says If you deny me you will be denied.

Jesus cured a sick man and the Pharisees accused him of it being sorcery - they said he could only be Beelzebub, so they thought he was a possessed demon. So Jesus rebuked them and told them:
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
You as a saved Christian cannot even do this. The Pharisees did this in Jesus presence. Jesus is the Holy Spirit

Righteousness is a gift that is received when we believe the gospel. No man makes himself righteous. AND no man makes himself unrighteous. Unrighteousness is received by being in Adam. Righteousness is received by being in Jesus.
Thus, 1 John 1:9 is not about those in Christ, but about those in Adam who "confess" (agree with God) that they have sin which needs forgiven and to be cleansed of all unrighteousness. Forgiveness of sins is in Christ, and is received when we turn to God, having believed that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and raised for our justification.
The ONLY people who are lying if they say they have no sin, are those who have not been forgiven or cleansed from all unrighteousness. Obviously, anyone who has been cleansed of all sin (vs 7) by the blood of Jesus, is not lying when they say they have no sin, they would be lying if they said they still have sin, after having been cleansed. What an insult it would be, to the blood of Jesus, to have been cleansed by His blood and still claim you have sin. In Christ, there is none unrighteous. Paul tells us that those who have been reconciled to God are the righteousness of God.
Who are we to undue what Christ has done?

He said that it is easier for a rich man to get to heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle but that should be the other way around for those of you who don't know that scripture. All preacher's misquote scripture from time to time because no one is perfect. But this is why it's important to know God's word.

It must be predicated that this book, 1 John, was written to believers who had been baptized by and filled with the Holy Spirit, 1John 2:20. That is a HUGE point to not emphasize.
An authentic believer has been baptized by the Holy Spirit. The HS then brings that believer into alignment to manifest, exhibit, or do the attributes which identifies them as a ‘true believer’. The crucial point of the matter is to be baptized of the HS, how that occurs needs to be the topic of teaching. Otherwise the issue circles back to folks are performing empty tasks or actions. All of that awareness and heightened conviction is because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
It is not an even comparison to study the young rich ruler, against people who have been baptized in water, professed at least some of their sin, go to church, read the Bible, but still don’t have the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Young Rich guy was not confessing and trying to be a real or practicing Christian.

FRUITS CAN BE EATEN. ACCORDING TO GOD'S WILL. BY CHOICE. A SMALL PLANT. WATERED AND MOLDED BY THE BLAMELESS 1. THROUGH FIRE OF INTENSE HEAT OF PRESSURES OF LIFE ALONG THE WAY. I WILL DECREASE AND YESHUA JESUS WILL INCREASED. YOUR WILL BE DONE

Pastor Lawson, with due respect I differs from your teaching on 1Jn1:9.
Christians doesn’t need further forgiveness because God has given them all forgiveness they could possibly need; all of it all our sins past, present and future and have already been forgiven. John was speaking to a natural man who says they have no sins , who deceived themselves, who do not have the truth in them , they say they have not sinned thus making God out to be a liar.
Well those are obviously not Christians, those are unbelievers and to those , if they confess their sins then they’re gonna find God to be faithful and just to forgive all their sins and cleansed all their unrighteousness. Any comments please. Thank you,

Beloved you have misinterpreted 1 John for he defends the New Covenant of Jesus Christ 1 John 5:18 we know that whomsoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. Look at 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.

But the bible says to have nothing to do with sin. Not even to focus on it but fix our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
1 John 1 was written to a certain group of people in the church called Gnostics who didn't believe in sin and didn't believe sin was a thing and the other thing that they didn't believe was that Jesus hadn't come in the flesh but was only a spirit.
We must teach proper exegesis or we put God's precious people under condemnation!
And the remedy for sin? For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace!!!

You don't understand scripture. John was dealing with gnosticism. during second and third century Ad . they didn't believe the incarnation of jesus. and they also didn't believe they were sinners . so we see here in this scripture that John. was dealing with the antichrist they didn't believe in jesus coming in the flesh and they also didn't believe they had A sinful nature . Jesus remove sin once and for all at the cross as believers we don't have to keep asking for forgiveness every time we make a mistake you need to be taught the word of truth so you won't be confusing the people of God if he said it is finish it was finish once and for all he doesn't have to keep dying every time we make mistakes i pray you as A teacher get to understand the word of God by the holy spirit of truth that's my comment

Sir you are teaching law not grace. we have been forgiven once and for all. First of all the law is not for the gentile.and the law is not for the righteous. According to scriptures. 1 John 1-9 John is dealing with gnosticism during the first and second century. Ad These false teacher's didn't believe that jesus came in the flesh. And they didn't believe in the sinful nature. John is telling them they have to confess their sin"s and God would cleanse them of all unrighteousness. That scripture is not for the believer. But for the unbelievers. We will be judged for teaching false doctrine. That's my comment

I was really enjoying this teaching until you bring up your dislikes of other denominations. Pentecostal ,charismatic etc. You do know we all will be sharing a place in heaven with those of other denominations, right? Whenever one denomination brings down another because the church they reside in does not hold to some non essential doctrine, I stop right there and move on to another channel. Just because your sure your teaching is 100 percent without error, we all may be surprised when we get to heaven and find out somethings we thought, taught and believed true were actually incorrect. Only one that's without error is GOD...Please work on unity not division those denominations are brothers and sister in Christ also.
