No I think Drake put Cole in an awkward position with Kendrick. I believe that Michael Jackson Beat It part in Drakes last verse was really a subliminal shot to Kendrick. I think Cole noticed the little shot Drake was throwing at Kendrick in Drake’s first verse and thought nothing of it because Cole took a competitive shot with the Muhammad Ali bar. But I don’t think Cole realized what Drake was insinuating until after 7 minute drill came out and didn’t want to be apart of where Drake was taking things.

Not really. Him being petty about it was justified imo because Kendrick was being hostile in that verse.
The problem was him not taking out Kendrick immediately after the control verse. At that time, Kendrick wasn't KENDRICK like he was after TPAB. Drake let the little lizzard grow into a dragon, and he got burnt 10 years later.

@@GnA_000Kendrick wasn’t *that* hostile imo. He made it clear he had love for everybody he listed in the verse but he still wanted to murder them lyrically. But i agree that Drake should’ve made a move to end him when he had the chance

Honestly I'm just happy J. Cole is hanging out at the beach... I think he was down to claim #1 and rap but not really down to battle his friends and throw personal shots. He saw where this was going and bowed out peacefully...

He created the climate with his bragging about being better than people on their own songs and claims of rappers being afraid to be in the same space...Along with GOAT claims over his peers and blaiming fans for his response..
