For dividing fractions you can use KFC to remember the steps. K - keep the first fraction the same F - flip the second fraction C - change the sign into multiplication
35/4 = 8 r 3. When dividing 35 by4 we are looking for a number that multiplies 4 to give us 35. If we go through our 4 times table: 4 x 1 = 4 4 x 2 = 8 4 x 5 = 20 4 x 8 = 32 4 x 9 = 36 We see that 4 x 8 = 32 and 4 x 9 = 36. There doesn't appear to be a WHOLE number that multiplies 4 to give us 35. But we can get pretty close. 4 x 9 is larger than 35 but 4 x 8 gives 32 which is just below 35. So is 35/4=8? No, because when we multiply 4 and 8 we get 32 which is 3 'steps' away from 35. We need an extra 3 steps after we multiply 4 by 8 to get to 35. Therefore, 35/4 = 8 remainder 3 or 8 r 3.
Schools are teaching kids more complicated things from a younger age than they used to. My mom graduated sometime in the 1980s. By the time I was in 8th grade she couldn’t understand a lot of what I was being taught, and when I was in 10th grade my father couldn’t understand some of the stuff I was being taught. My younger brother is in 7th grade and my mom needs me to help him with his schoolwork because she can’t understand a lot of it.
@@yeetusfeetus7877 as we grow in knowledge, the stuff we need to learn at school also grows. Why do syllabuses keep changing? Because they need to account for the new discoveries and issues of our world
