Interesting how you talk about women dumbing themselves down for men... this happens in practicing muslims circles too. Where men are condescending to women and even if she is knowledgeable on Islam she feels she will only be respected by the man if she pretends she doesn't know anything. If, god forbid, you have more knowledge than a man it will offend him and he will give you a dressing down. And they justify this by men are made the leaders in society by Allah.

A significant negative societal shift is happening in relation to young Muslim women, and Farhat Amin provides an excellent analysis of this subject. Alhumdullilah, your podcast topics continue to impress and enlighten me. Keep up the great work!

As ever, an incredibly well put together podcast addressing all the challenges our daughters face in the modern world. It is clear that this husband and wife team are working together to inspire our children to think more and not simply be slaves to societal trends and fashion. May Allah swt bless and reward both these amazing people with good in this life and the next.
Great podcast ! Love the book too !! "Smart Teenage Muslimah" is a must-read for Muslim parents seeking to nurture their daughters' physical and spiritual well-being with wisdom, sensitivity, and Islamic values.
I would always teach my daughters to have careers and work and have their own income as well as a family - just like I was taught … that’s not contrary to Islam … it’s what many Muslim sahabas did .. career isn’t a bad word .. I have mashallah lovely children and a career so that I don’t have to be subject to abusive financial control as many Muslim women in society are
Assalam waleikoum you're right but don't forget to teach them to not give up on their principle and dignity in order to pursue this career. May Allah bless you and your children.
Many men would understand from being taught Muslim women’s rights in Islam which they have denied them fri decades. They need to stop using feminism as a blanket excuse to blame women for their woes and realise that it’s for decades men thag haven’t given women their rights in Islam which has led to them demanding their rights

I think all of us here would agree that the distinctive feature of this podcast is that it really makes us think and ponder upon various issues of our Deen rather than just digest the content to fill the time before sleep (after listening to the podcast with brother Hamza, I spent days thinking about the issue of ikhlas and the sincerity of our actions as well as decided to get back to the writings of Ghazali on purification of the heart which I left half-read a while ago). Such a sensitive and vital issue that is so rarely discussed. JazakAllahokhairun to the host and the sister for sharing your views. I pray this is one of many discussions on this topic.
MashaAllah what an excellent interview and discussion. May Allah swt reward you abundantly with His mercy, health and barakah InshaAllah ameen. Would love to hear a similar type of interview on the struggles/solutions for single muslimahs in finding a spouse in the west.
JazakaAllaahu khair to Farhat for her research and time to write this fascinating book. So long overdue in the community. I think we also need a man to write a similar book for our teenage boys too. We have so much wealth amongst the British Muslims, why can't we establish more successful secondary schools for our kids? I'm glad that Farhat has pointed out the biggest flaw in modern Western societies, the absence of God. This is where all problems stem from. Hence the complete destruction of Western societies unfolding infront of our eyes.
Such a brilliant and engaging discussion.. we should all take heed from the sister on the advice given, mosque 🕌 today are just not enough as they provide little or no facility for understanding Islam, so quran teaching forced upon kids and teenage years abandoned and many parents think they done thier bit, add to that the imams that teach Islam are low paid and cannot connect with the children they teach, but teachers can be inspirational at school and they could be atheists. I would suggest evryone buy the sisters book and implement the advice given inshallah
Ma shaa Allah, may Allah reward you for your efforts! Very important and wisely put discussion. I am waiting to read her book and her views on criticizing liberal feminist perspectiv. It is absolutely needed that we have informed critical reading on this political movement borned in the west for white privileged women. Also important to point out there is internal debate and contradiction within this political tradition. Liberal feminism is also well framed by racism and imperialism and used to target browned (and muslim) men. So it is definitely not our answer but as the sister highlight : what is the answer we give to our young (and less young) sister's difficulties? El hamdoulillah discovering the work you are doing give a lot of hopes for the next generation in shaa Allah!
This is the issue with Muslims now a days - they see feminism as only one thing/ white liberal feminism. There are many writers including African writers who talk about how there are different forms of feminism and white feminism doesn’t stand or represent them Exactly like that there are also Muslim feminist that demand their god given rights but Muslim men label them as feminist as shame them to giving up their rights as if they are optional
The answer is Muslim Men need to be taught to respect Muslim women and let them Have g Eid rights and equity that Islam provides so these women don’t have to look else where
I would not oppose "muslim men" and "muslim women" as two opposite categories and explain the difficulties of the second being imposed by the first category. This is the feminist liberal agenda and it is a racist one. State, imperialism and colonial power are more guilty of muslim women suffering than the men of their community who offently are their best supporters. Further in so many case muslim men are under much violence than muslim women. There is no muslim women in Guantanamo and very few palestinien women in Israeli prison. This because imperialist power target muslim men first. So we need to get red of this liberal opposition men/women and revive our islamic tradition where you are right muslim women's rights should be adress and preserved in shaa Allah.
MashaAllah such an enlightening conversation! But sister probably thinks faster than she speaks, which is why she starts a sentence and without finishing it, moves to another sentence. Overall, often its appearing she is not sure what she wants to say.
thank you for inviting a proper muslim woman with a proper hijab, and her face is not covered with make up. I am fed up with all those so called muslim shows and dawah who invite muslim women with no proper hijab, and eye lashes, make up. I am a muslim woman who doesn't wear a head scarf and I don't want to see in muslim and dawah shows muslim women without a proper headscarf and covered with make up.
Jazakumullahu khairan for this important topic- it feels sometimes like no one has a Muslim woman’s back. I appreciate the importance of empowering us when it comes to this view that Muslim girls and women need saving from our culture and religion- a view which manufactures consent for western neo-colonial and imperial policies which harm those same girls and women, as well as harming us here domestically. It’s everything to do with western superiority (as if western culture is not “patriarchal”, to us that word, as the guest touches upon. And it’s great the conversation is being had about empowering Muslim girls internally. That being said, I did take issue with the assumption that a man shouldn’t raise their own child and that it’s a woman’s job- they’re their child just as much as the mothers. Perhaps a clearer exploration of what the issue is with a feminist framework would have been appreciated also. I think women should do what they want and appreciate that the definition of women’s liberation in employment is useful to the economy first and foremost perhaps, but you can’t deny the importance for empowering women of having plans outside the marriage in case that doesn’t work out and of ijtihad relating to family issues in Islam to empower Muslim women internally as well. That being said it’s great the conversation is being had.
I'm a young Muslim girl living in the West and I absolutely enjoyed this episode!!! Thanks so much! I hope you can make many more youth-related episodes if possible! I relate to so much of it - the books we are taught in school and how mainstream feminist ideas/atheist views are kind of pushed onto students, islamophobia due to hijab etc.
@@momlife1123 I'd love to move to a Muslim country like my own country but the West ruined it and colonized it in the past and I unfortunately have no hopes of realizing my dreams there (because Western intervention has wrecked those countries).
@@rnm1643 thats interesting; how can you claim Western intervention ruined those countries? Muslim majority countries have Sharia law, first class infrastructure, healthcare, education etc. Look at Saudi Arabia and Qatar. These countries have very little to no western influence. They are fully governed by Muslims. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, all great places to live and all Muslim governments. Why wouldnt you want to live in these places? Whats wrong with them? There is zero western interference and hasn't been for many decades.
@@momlife1123that’s a lie there’s a lot of western influence. Right now in Gaza people are dying and Muslim leaders don’t care and are having a CONCERT? Which is clearly forbidden in Islam. There’s a lot of impact that u don’t know of. Though regardless I wanna feel confident in wearing hijab and not being so judged while also having hate crimes imposed on me by westerners. I was born here because my parents moved here. Inshallah I’ll be able to go to a Muslim country ameen. I’ve visited a lot of them and that’s where I feel most comfortable thought it is extremely expensive. Country like Pakistan and Afghanistan are clearly undeveloped and by no means I wanna live there for the rest of my life but some of my family relocate from there.
@@alishaaaax well you cant have it all. I suggest you move to Saudi Arabia. Anyplace where the Hijab is mandatory should make you feel most comfortable. Western countries are not friendly to Muslims, nor should they be. The values of Western Democracies are in direct conflict with the values of Islam. Islam is not only a religion; it is also a political and justice system. Sharia law and western laws are in direct conflict. You and any family you make should definitely leave the West. Just get an arranged marriage to a nice guy in Saudi, Egypt, UAE, Qatar, etc.
When one focusses on the concept of "happiness", one will never reach such a moving target. You hit the target right in the middle. When children are trained to not like the way they are, then business can sell the "right" solution for ever.
It feels like to understand the problems with our liberal environment from a Muslim perspective you have to go back to the enlightenment and earlier, which lay muslims and kids who have bought into the 'progressive' liberal world view find it difficult to grasp
The segment about mobile phones is very interesting. I am a lecturer and when discussing social media and mobile phones, the younger students wished they were never given a mobile phone. They talk about how it makes them anti-social and gives them access to things they should not see. I personally think that smartphones should not be given to children under the age of 16. Before 16 they have too much going on both physically and emotionally and then they have access to all the wrong things on their phone. This is a very interesting discussion. I feel that Masjids and parents need to step up.
Read the Quran, let it guide you, and become more Quran centered. Hearing Allah SWT you will come to realize very easily that Islam isn't misogynist or misandrist. To counter misogyny isn't best to become a misandrist like feminists preach. If a man is a misogynist then remind him it is against Allah SWT. Men and women aren't the same, that is just an undeniable reality, so to force equality means that one group is undermined unfairly and another group is obliged on things they just unable to deal with physically and mentally. Equality is just oppression and unfairness.
Thank you mr Obvious, when your home is invaded and you are overpowered with force, just remind them that home invasion is illegal while they're crushing your scull.....
@@sparklemotion8377 I haven't got a clue what you are on about. My guess is you got triggered by "If a man is a misogynist then remind him it is against Allah SWT". If so, then talk about taking someone out of context. Misogyny isn't male violence. Who knows??? Maybe that guy is a misandrist doing violence to that woman.
If there is truly no movie presenting positive aspects of traditional Muslim Women Way of Life; that may well be because of the generally prevailing real-life situation in society. After all Muslim women do face violence and discrimination in the form of Honor Killings, Half inheritance and Half credibility (as witness), Misogyny, Polygamy, Triple Talaq, Muttah, Dowry and Domestic Violence etc. that is prescribed in the religious texts and social mores in Islamic (and to a considerable extent even non-Muslim) societies in South Asia. So there is greater need to salvage the females in Muslim societies than in West by good souls like Farhat.
Ma shaa Allah this was very informative and great advices. Jazakum Allah khairan for sharing your thoughts in the book. I hold gatherings at a community for girls and will be reading you book in shaa Allah. I know of a book for our smart teenage boys which is called ‘ Futuwwah’ by Imam Dauwd Walid. Please check it out. May Allah bless you all for your hard work!
I have always been confident in my religion and from a young age chose myself to wear a hijab as a feminist move to not be judged by my looks and be judged by how I speak:behave. But I still identify as a feminist not a white feminist but a feminist The problem is muslimmwomen are being taught as well as men that feminism is a slur word now Feminism is a fight for women’s rights - not necessarily blind equality as white feminism demands but women’s rights that Islam even grants
Here in the states, the biggest problem in making the masjid a destination for youth, is undoubtedly the elderly generation of men who spend all their time jn the masjid. The expectation that they can cause trouble and get into other people's business because something doesn't make sense to them is absurd. As a convert of 16 years i have to honestly report that reapect for elders has gone too far, they are largely unchallenged even when forcing jahil on the community. We need to stand up for ourselves and our youth.

The theory of evolution is wrong according to salafi-wahabi scholars since the 1970s... but muslim scholars have been discussing the subject for the last 1100 years... I have faith that there's probably a lot of thought and reflection put into her statements, but it doesn't seem that apparent based on the podcast, will probably need to get her book from the local library and check it out, my daughter isn't even one yet, but no harm in being prepared
It is really important justice is more important than equality, The western ideology has conflated the two when it comes to the men and women, as if justice cannot be achieved between the two sexes without equality. The western ideologues have contended erroneously that differences between sexes means inequality between them, and the inequality between them is injustice. It is based on this propositions that the feminism, and now also transgenderism (gender fluidity and endless number of genders), has now reached far the ridiculous point of denying fundamental differences between men and women created by Allah swt. Yet, such western ideologies, however much they try to brainwash people, can never escape the core differences between the two sexes from the beginning, and the related differences in the roles and responsibilities between the two assigned by Allah swt. It is those evitable differences that renders it impossible for men and women to be equal in all areas of human life and society. Therefore, the western ideological attempt to equalize men and women in every aspect of society, which was, is, and will be impossible. Hence, the liberal indoctrination has failed, is failing, and will fail. This is why western liberals despise Islam, as Islam clearly states the truth about the gender differences that those ideologues can never defeat, no matter how often they lie. But, instead of honestly confronting and recognizing the fundamental flaws in their ideology, those western bigots sinfully blame Islam. Those nonbelievers do not understand or cannot accept the truth that no human society, in spite of all its material wealth, military prowess, ideological prejudice and bigotry, ultimately can ever change the intentions and creations of Allah swt. Islam is straight in teaching that since men and Women are different in many areas, they are not and cannot be equal in every role and responsibility. Thus, we humans are ordained by Allah swt to acknowledge, respect, and embrace those differences and reject the chase for the fantasy of "equality" in every field. Total equality between men and women is impossible, so it is not and cannot be a moral goal. A goal for humanity is something that is ordained and approved by Allah, and Allah has never commanded us to go for an impossible and thus wrong goal like complete equality between men and women. What Allah the goal that we humans should strive for is what is right - justice.
Sister you can't convince people living in denials. We Muslims live for Akhira simple as that. Of course ours predecessors worked hard to give civilization to the world.. Donya hassana and Akhira hassna, like you said Balance. Imagine the wisdom of Allah Compassion and Mercy nothing comparing. House without trust is the devil kingdom. Surah Rum 30/21 "And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect..
It must be difficult raising those Muslims girls, you knowing and they knowing, everything they achieved academically is down to a secular , Liberal and predominantly Christian country.
What’s needed is men in Islam to be taught to give women their god given rights in Islam .. and not treat those rights as optional that women should be shamed to give up such as a right to her own income, a right to divorce and not accept a co wife And accept that there is a thing as Islamic feminism - fighting fir god given rights for muslim women and their equity Then you wouldn’t have the issue of Muslim girls looking elsewhere Muslim men need to learn to respect Muslim women
Equality. Great idea like communism. Why should there be rich or poor? Give the guy (or gal) who wants to build and manage a business (like automobile or aircraft manufacturing) the same as the man who wants to watch football all day.
On my way back from work, i see men going to work and i see women going to work. We can generally know why the men are going to spend the next 8 or 9 hours of the day in the office. I want to know why the women need to do the same. If they have children, they prioritize their own goal over the taking care of their children. The women who have no children are worst off: because they wait until very late to get married. Don't don't even get married. Some have dogs to replace their loneliness. If women realizes the amount of injustice feminism has done to them, they would flee immediately.
STOP burdening the women in Name of Allaah ❤❤❤The Almighty The Most Just The Most Loving The Most Merciful The Creator The Providor... This is from your pagan ahadith books written by arrogant people with a disease in their heart. Covering the women is also sexualize the women. What do you not understand??? Teach your men to STOP harras women. Simple.
Men are not automatically the head of the family - they have to be the head of their family by their mannerisms and provisions… just cos ur born with male reproductive organs doesn’t mean you can be the head of the family in Islam if you neglect your Islamic and family responsibilities Vague statements on feminism etc and male heads of family are not useful unless u go into it You state there’s different types of feminism but then only talk about one type- white feminism - not mention of women’s rights and feminism in Islam

You can move to a Muslim country and you won’t have to complain about the west
Subhan Allah

When one focusses on the concept of "happiness", one will never reach such a moving target.
You hit the target right in the middle.
When children are trained to not like the way they are, then business can sell the "right" solution for ever.
It feels like to understand the problems with our liberal environment from a Muslim perspective you have to go back to the enlightenment and earlier, which lay muslims and kids who have bought into the 'progressive' liberal world view find it difficult to grasp
These movies are not an accident there are very sinister intentions behind it. This is classic Ideological Subversion,
True
The segment about mobile phones is very interesting. I am a lecturer and when discussing social media and mobile phones, the younger students wished they were never given a mobile phone. They talk about how it makes them anti-social and gives them access to things they should not see. I personally think that smartphones should not be given to children under the age of 16. Before 16 they have too much going on both physically and emotionally and then they have access to all the wrong things on their phone. This is a very interesting discussion. I feel that Masjids and parents need to step up.
I agree with you 100%
May Allah give me and my family neighbours knowledable and consciousnes muslims like both in this life and in Jannah.
iman ki roshni our sister
Did anyone find the books she mentioned after the 11th minute?
Great viewing with much to digest
Ma shaa Allah this was very informative and great advices. Jazakum Allah khairan for sharing your thoughts in the book. I hold gatherings at a community for girls and will be reading you book in shaa Allah.
I know of a book for our smart teenage boys which is called ‘ Futuwwah’ by Imam Dauwd Walid. Please check it out. May Allah bless you all for your hard work!
I have always been confident in my religion and from a young age chose myself to wear a hijab as a feminist move to not be judged by my looks and be judged by how I speak:behave. But I still identify as a feminist not a white feminist but a feminist
The problem is muslimmwomen are being taught as well as men that feminism is a slur word now
Feminism is a fight for women’s rights - not necessarily blind equality as white feminism demands but women’s rights that Islam even grants
It shouldn't be about feminism. The problem is misogyny. Muslims act like it's one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
Is it just me or anyone else find the guest aggressive! Her thoughts r all over the place & she’s missing the end point of where she’s starts off 🤦🏻♀️
Iv watched many of the programmes on this channel & this is the first time I’m not understanding the guest
The show she was talking about was written and made by a Muslim women
The theory of evolution is wrong according to salafi-wahabi scholars since the 1970s... but muslim scholars have been discussing the subject for the last 1100 years...
I have faith that there's probably a lot of thought and reflection put into her statements, but it doesn't seem that apparent based on the podcast, will probably need to get her book from the local library and check it out, my daughter isn't even one yet, but no harm in being prepared
It's "crazy" that teenage children rely on other teenage children to navigate the adult life. How could this be logical?
A GIRL FROM MOGADISHU IS A GOOD MUSLIM MOVIE.
Try to raise the Confident Muslim Girls in the soudi arebia.
This is not a new issue.... I have been Muslim for 30 years and this has been the undercurrent attitude since I can remember
26:40 ms amin did you unironically just say that being open-minded is bad
Salams Sister Farhat, please see the link I sent you.
At the end no society, religion or community will escape from feminism. We better learn to live with it
This is the issue with Muslims now a days - they see feminism as only one thing/ white liberal feminism. There are many writers including African writers who talk about how there are different forms of feminism and white feminism doesn’t stand or represent them
Exactly like that there are also Muslim feminist that demand their god given rights but Muslim men label them as feminist as shame them to giving up their rights as if they are optional
It’s stupid to claim feminism is the problem when the problem for decades has been toxic masculinity in Islamic cultures
What’s needed is men in Islam to be taught to give women their god given rights in Islam .. and not treat those rights as optional that women should be shamed to give up such as a right to her own income, a right to divorce and not accept a co wife
And accept that there is a thing as Islamic feminism - fighting fir god given rights for muslim women and their equity
Then you wouldn’t have the issue of Muslim girls looking elsewhere
Muslim men need to learn to respect Muslim women
It’s easy for men to act victim not and pretend feminism is the problem cos they can no longer treat women as household slaves
20:30 you could say that why don't muslim men choose not to be visibly muslim.
59:43 Evolution doesn't say we evolved from apes.

Equality. Great idea like communism. Why should there be rich or poor? Give the guy (or gal) who wants to build and manage a business (like automobile or aircraft manufacturing) the same as the man who wants to watch football all day.
Why the men rewarded with Virgine in Paradise for being a good Muslim, what is reward for the female believers
Simple.
Men are not automatically the head of the family - they have to be the head of their family by their mannerisms and provisions… just cos ur born with male reproductive organs doesn’t mean you can be the head of the family in Islam if you neglect your Islamic and family responsibilities
Vague statements on feminism etc and male heads of family are not useful unless u go into it
You state there’s different types of feminism but then only talk about one type- white feminism - not mention of women’s rights and feminism in Islam
Neither does this farhat offer any solution other than blabbin on about brand Islam 😂
Subhan Allah
