Nice video Lewis! The Escort actually matured into a decent car at the end with the Zetec engines and dynamic tweaks paving the way for the Focus. Shame they didn't do a bolder restyle over the Mk5 but actually has a kinda cool retro vibe now.
Thanks for the memories Mr Mackland, we had a N Plate 1.6 L.Spec Escort Mark 6 with the black bumpers, think only luxury thing we had was a sunroof! But before that we had two Mark 5's one on a J Plate, and one on a L Plate both powered by the 1.3 engine but the later one had fuel injection, so this generation of Escort is close to me, family holidays and just road trips to places local to us. The Zetec engines transformed the Escort. One day I will get to drive one.

Thanks for the video. Good memories. My dad bought me this as my first car in 2007. Same year, same colour. I loved it. Spent about a year driving it every day, crashed it twice, big subwoofer in the boot and the obligatory K&N air filter 😂. I kind of miss the days of cars being more simple and easy to work on.
You seem to be forgetting the S reg Escort GTI I had back in the day with the Zetec 1.8 petrol that was a great car with a lovely body kit fitted by ford

One of the funnest cars i've driven/owned.
Person who sold it to me kept telling me how his Maserati was a %$it drive in comparison. Add to that how Fords are literally 'built to last' as their US slogan, goes; and not just to last you 6-7 years, like most 'disposable' cars, these days; you invest in one of these babies: your laughin!!.
These were reasonably good cars but I made the mistake of buying a used 1.6 petrol but with the godawful CVT transmission & I'd never buy any car with a belt & pulley gearbox ever again!

They only did 6 they did a facelift mk5 which is where your confusion comes from I assume, the only place that got a 7th gen was China, look it up you’ll find many official information from Ford themselves confirming there’s only 6 European escort generations and 8 in China and 3 in America
