  • NEZU SHRINE and YANAKA GINZA - BEAUTIFUL OLD JAPAN
    Visiting Nezu Shrine in the middle of Tokyo. A shrine known for the Azelea festival held from mid-April to mid-May. For a natural setting of old Japan this is worth the visit.
    Next up is Yanaka Ginza, an old style Japan shopping street filled with souvenir, yakitori and vegetable shops. A great way to experience old yet modern culture in the middle of Tokyo.

    I vidited both those areas a couple of months ago. Nezu shrine was nice and quiet. The area around Yanaka and Nezu was quite different than regular downtown Tokyo. I never saw any cats in Yanaka though.😊

    Your editing skills are getting better and better...I saw some new skills on display in this video. Also a nice change in letting the video speak for itself...sometimes there's no need to have a running commentary.
    BTW, just buttering you up in hopes of getting a free beer in December!

      Moto Gnome buttering up is good! Now your up to 2 free beers...lol keep it coming...hehehe I do try to edit in different ways at times and try to evolve but also at times do go to old ways ....gotta keep people on their toes...you never know what's coming next...lol

    Thank you for sharing your video with us.
    I would not say that one shrine is more beautiful compared with another one - But Nezu shrine is less stressful than the one at Asakusa (the more famous one)... Nezu shrine has probably less people because it is not so promoted by the tourist industry.
    I am looking forward to your next video!

      Frederick König thank you for watching and commenting. I believe you are right about Nezu shrine being less popular in general due to not being promoted . It is rather a nicer Shinto shrine IMO than Sensoji, Meiji or even Yasakuni are. Those 3 are the top 3 in Tokyo but I would rather go somewhere where you get a more local feel.

    Drew , are there any world war 2 museums in Japan , to visit? I had also asked about shopping at night are stores open late and is it safe to walk around most areas ?

    • @Tokyodrew
      @Tokyodrew  7 років тому +1

      Terry Schmidt YASAKUNI SHRINE is the biggest and most controversial shrine in Japan to visit. Will leave a link about it after this comment. As for stores open late...malls usually close 8-9pm. Depending on what area you are in some stores could stay open until 10-11pm due to being in a high traffic area like Shinjuku. As for walking around at night being safe....OH HELL YA! I can honestly say 99% that it is safer than most countries for men and women. I made a vlog about Yasakuni shrine...check it out and here is a link about Yasukuni shrine..... goo.gl/NQEvQk
