Yes. The 53 caps are more decorative than the 54. Having the correct caps would make this car stand out more. But it is what it is. Still a desirable 53

My grandfather bought one shorty after becoming a grandpa.. I don't remember what color it was. B&W photographs of it look.. black.. or blue or green. I was only two when we all rode in it cross country to California. I am SURE grandpa's big comfort was that I was the first to kill the new car smell of his Special. I don't know and never asked much about what was going on at the time. I am SURE it was not painted as brightly as this one. Grandpa was proud.. but not showy. I think he went with a deep green on his screaming machine.

Great car story you have. Back in the day pride of ownership was important. As it showed one’s status. And owning a Buick certainly did that as your Grandpa knew.❤
